Here I am at 32 watching this, knee deep in the technique along with my sister who is now 30 trying to learn one-stroke in honor of my mother who LOVED your videos and tutorials in the early 2000’s. (She passed in 2016). My favorite thing she left behind were all the clay pots and paintings she made with one-stroke technique. Thank you Donna for making my mom so happy and continuing to teach the tradition!
I’m 33, an active artist, and learning techniques like this really gets me excited. I’m not formally trained other than high school art classes, and when things click like this for me I’m reminded that learning is SO IMPORTANT at any age!!
As I a kid, I always remember my mom buying your kits so she could learn to paint🥺 she passed away a few years ago. And recently I’ve been wanting to learn to paint and instantly thought of how my mom loved you! So here I am. Can’t wait to try your techniques myself! Love your art and your videos! ❤️thank you for making it easy for us(:
When i was a kid i begged my parents to buy me a Donna Dewberry one stroke painting kit. I watched her regularly on KCET and always wanted to call the phone number listed on the screen. I recognized the thumbnail and the iconic painting style as I was scrolling through UA-cam. What an inspiration! Thanks, Donna!
As a 20 year artist and muralist worldwide, I started my art career learning to paint international folk arts. After being away from my brushes and easel for too many years, Donna's Cabbage Rose video has given me renewed excitement. Her easy to follow techniques and teaching expertise are what counts for me. Thank you so much. Dawna Taylor Jones
Here is an inspiring story for you. Back when there was only Dial UP Internet, I went to the magazine rack and found an amazing Painting Lesson by Donna Dewberry. Each piece within the magazine looked majestic, yet I knew I could quickly learn and accomplish. My first rose, buds, petals came out looking like hers. Everyone marveled. It was my source of joy and an outlet in an extremely abusive marriage, where the internet and socializing was forbidden. I still have my first creation and it started me on looking at the flowers around the house and learning to paint with one stroke. We don't know the big debate that is happening here within these conversations; but one thing I know for sure, she introduced it to Canada and the US and exposed us to paint like a professional but with ease and without having to take a years worth of courses. Bless you Donna Dewberry.
I love that you walk us through from the very beginning the technique slowly. I feel like a lot of tutorials automatically assume you know the basics, even the beginner tutorials. Thank you so much! This is my moms favorite flower and I'm going to paint her this for mother's day. ❤🌷
I love you Donna! You got me painting 8 yrs ago when you were teaching on regular TV. I went out and purchased your products from Michael's. Since then I have migrated into Face Painting with this technique and because of you I now own my own business! Thank you for sharing your talent and sparking my LOVE for one stroke painting! ❤️❤️❤️😚🤗
Hi, Donna! I’m your aunt Kathy’s great granddaughter! Greetings from Alaska!! 💗 Love finding about all the artists in my family 🥰 God has truly blessed us!
Oh my gosh!!! Years ago I use to watch videos of you teaching techniques and here you are again! That’s wonderful because I have to learn all over again. So glad to see you again and looking forward to binge watching all of the rest of your videos so I can start on my projects soon. ❤️
I have seen many people painting before, but you have the touch, I love the way you explain perfectly how to paint slowly, specially for beginners, so people can see how you move your hands and the brushes. Thank you very much, I really appreciate your lessons. ☺️
Thank-you, Donna, for sharing your skillsets. Your art makes me feel happier. Your roses over a vintage pair of Chinese wardrobes would only compliment them, that much more. The flowers are as pretty, as you.
And I thought there was nothing new under the sun. Original, effective, gorgeous. I'm not easily impressed, but I'm totally impressed by this technique. 10 out of 10. You owned it.
Oh how wonderful to know you have a UA-cam channel. I have so many books and brush sets of yours. Wow did I paint a lot of your one stroke flowers ect. So good to see you still doing painting tutorials. I’m going to get my paints and brushes out and enjoy some painting again. Thank goodness I saved all my books from back when tile painting was so popular. 😊
I paint because of you. I bought a kit off a home shopping show. One day you talked to the audience, saying anyone who has a kit but never opened it now was the time.i took a single class at Hobby Lobby. The rest I learned by watching Donna on TV. I have demonstrated one stroke at a local art league meeting.
You make it look so easy. I’ve missed you. I use to watch you on PBS till they took you off the air. I brought the brushes and everything. Now that I’ve found you again it’s time to get back to work.😊
Hun, DON'T EVER apologize, for your talent, that pleases so many. CLEARLY Trolls are trying to control your emotions and get you down. Dismiss negativity, delete it, or have someone do it for you. Replace it with all the positivity you have that is CLEARLY displayed. And continue on your happy path. We must learn to stop the negativity from affecting us, and penetrating our spirits. Positive Affirmation, Don't allow people to walk into your mind with dirty shoes. Best of Luck!!
I remember when your book one stroke painting first came out in the 80's--- it was all the rage thank u so much glad to see ur still on the scene !!!!!
Wow, I'm so happy I found you after all these years. You look great!! I took your One Stroke classes in the 80's. I found so much joy learning your techniques, practicing strokes and making things. Thank you💕🌷
I feel like so many of our mothers and grandmothers learned these techniques back in the 90s and 00's from you. Now my mother is urging me to learn and I'm so lucky that these videos are available on UA-cam!!
I'm starting my Spring Flower series painting on glass and Donna Dewberry's one stroke style is perfect for this project. Thank you Donna for creating such an ingenious method for painting flowers and sharing it with us on UA-cam!
Beautiful! You have shown how easy it can be to make something gorgeous. Roses are for the month of June and my birthday. I’m a retired teacher and can honestly say that you’re a wonderful teacher. I can hardly wait to paint some cabbage roses, which are also my favorite. Blessings and please keep teaching these tutorials.
I used to watch your show over my summer breaks on PBS when I was a kid. I even asked my grandmother to buy me one of your one stroke painting kits when they were on sale and this was my favorite flower! I’m so glad it’s on UA-cam. Thanks for sharing!
You and Bob Ross were the painting professionals of my childhood. When I was little I'd sit and watch you paint on CBS every Saturday morning. I never tried to follow your tutorials when I was little - I wish I did - but now that I'm 20 I would love to finally give them a try. So glad I found your UA-cam channel, these videos are very peaceful and nostalgic for me. =)
I love your work.I have never tried acrylic but I used to do oil painting. I have been thinking about trying acrylics. Thank you for all your time given to show how!
I remember when you were on t.v. in the mid 90's ghis flower was the first painting I ever tried, it was purple with white. Kinda wish you were back on t.v.
