- Augusta Mary Anne Holmès (18 December 1847 -- 28 January 1903) was a French composer of Irish descent.

One can clearly hear the influence of her most influential teacher Cesar Franck. Her compositions are colorful and almost storylike. This woman deserves to have her music recorder!!!
Franck, yes ..... and Wagner too, I'd say (and Strauss). However not just them, but a strongly personal style distilling French masters legacy too. Daughter of her time but extremely independent in style and language
I agree, i feel a lot of Wagner in this, like, in this transition in 11:03 this is sooo obvious (i just take this as an example because i'm currently listening this).

C'è anche da dire che in un mondo musicale, tutto al maschile, per una donna compositrice non era facile emergere. Si, riminiscenze Wagneriane, ma più stemperate, appunto più femminili. Brano musicale che tranquillamente si può e si deve inserire in un periodo musicale ben preciso. Romanticismo
Anche se a risentirlo più tranquilla questo pezzo, Wagner è nei dintorni..... :) ma è tale il gigante che per sottrarsi ci volevano gli altri grandi che sappiamo :) comunque un pezzo che si lascia ascoltare
