I was #4
Awesome video, now I can finally grab one of these!!
Would a wyvern in turret mode affect the taming
Just a thought, depends on the Pheonixs size category (It looks like an Argy Skin) a technique I use to catch an Argy solo, with a Pteranodon, I build a pen with a dino gate to lure it in obviously, but if you build a double door frame on the opposite wall(not sure if thats S+ only or if you can get them vanilla, I build them 2 high) a Pteranodon can pass through it (although I walk it through, not tested while flying) but a Argy+ sized flyer cannot pass through the door way.....give it a look at your discretion
Yes! ARK SURVIVAL!!!
golden unicorn
I've tamed a phoenix and this tutorial really does point out the important stuff and will be useful when i tame another, on official it can take up to 4 or 5 superheats to tame (i was using ember crystal wyverns). I have a few tips that may be useful when taming one:
1. Ember Crystal Wyvern works too but fire wyvern should be more effective, at least in my experience.
2. You can use a parasaur to find the ashes, it will not always detect the ashes when in turret mode so it's a good idea to have someone riding the parasaur and another person carrying the parasaur with argy or wyvern. This also works when outside the superheat.
Yes the ember crystal wyvern won't let the magmasaur breed but the fire wyvern will. I'm guessing the fire wyverns got hotter flames. I use two fire wyverns to breed my magmasaurs. Only the female needs fire.
You deserve more likes this really helped me out
Noobletses are trapping geniuses.
The Ember Wyverns might be better for the flying quetzal trap, since they are smaller and easier to land on the platform. But, other than that, Fire Wyverns are probably the way to go.
@@cmac6136 what do you mean you use fire wyv to breed magmasaurs? Like flame them when they arent in lava to enable mating?
Damn the Phoenix alone got me wanting to buy the dlc map
I am engaging with the algorithm, because this video is great
5 hours ago and I'm just starting to consider taming a phoenix. Best timing possible.
Busting the ways NOT to do it in the beginning was nice to have; as I've seen plenty of places saying just to use a wyvern or flame-thrower. Also that last trap was fire! (pun not intended but I'm sticking with it now lol)
Amazingly detailed video! Seriously awesome, thank you for the advice and showing every side and aspect.
funny i was telling myself i want a phoenix. you came with the info right on time.
The phoenix C attack with it's talons is actually a harvest ability x3. You can mine stone, sulphur, crystal, obsidian etc while on the back of the bird.
Seriously.... mind blown! Excellent job sir. Thank you
Nooblets: HOW TO TAME A PHOENIX
Me: watching this without owning scorched
Don't be too hard on yourself... I'm still on the Island... never got out of it.
Me too
Thank you., you are terrific. Its so fun to watch your work.
I don't have electricity right now to enjoy my console and Ark so your especially appreciated by me during these times.
Such an amazing UA-camr Keep up the videos!
Clever stuff, Nooblets! Nice one :)
ahhhh this is relevant now that me and my friend completed the island :)
I was only hunting a Phoenix earlier today, unable to find the one I spotted ages ago. I'm glad to know they respawn where they last despawned though, I'd assumed that was a thing. I want to try and find out if Ember Crystal Wyverns are effective, since they have the damage buff on consecutive fire breaths.
This is brilliant ta!!
Well, now I know what I'm doing with ark next. Thanks for the tips.
For the Mark II, maybe use double door frames instead of regular single door frames, the larger gaps would be more forgiving and have less chance of blocking wyvern flames.
I think I would just prepare metal stuff the way I believe it will be enough and then I would simply search for it during the heatwave and once it despawns I could place my trap right there. So I wouldnt have to build so many traps or let it hunt me down. Amazing videoooo btw❤ Will help a whole lot. I didnt know about that trap kind
thank you very much Steve for all of your Ark. Videos I love it a lot I'm a very very grateful for you thank you thank you thank u.
Nice vid!
Thanks. I plan on taming some high levels eventually.
Great work steve
Yaaay love ur vids
Thank you Steve
Finally ANYTHING about Scrooched earth
Perfect timing! I just got back into officials and nobody in my tribe has tamed a pheonix before. Nice video!
after the 1st phoenix you dont need any trap anymore
just tame the 2nd one with your own phoenix eating flowers and using left klik what tames it
damage makes the taming faster also on wyverns
Thank you for helping me get one
Thanks Steve! Great video!
Will the Wyvern's damage impact the taming speed? Would a high level/damage wyvern tame it quicker than a low level one?
Amazing Steve
No one:
The pheonex: lord have mercy I'm about to bust
Excellent video. (You only need two Wyverns lol)
Hi steve i recently started playing ark again after quitting for 3 years nice vids
The exact same time as me lol.
I'm still thinking to return... but I dream of Space Engineers nowadays... what to do, wHaT tO dOoOoO!?!
Sick video. The only problem is finding the Phoenix to begin with. The heatwave frequency, and duration is far too low.
Now this is a very cute birdie
the claw attack of the phoenix is used to gather rocks and metal, its basically a flying anky.just whit less weight and much more speed and mobility
:-0
You are the man!
thank you 🙂
Steve, great in-depth vid as always! Would you mind doing something like a rock golem, titanosaur, Karkinos, etc. next that needs knocked out by a cannon, rpg, or catapult? I'd love your advice on which is the best method like how you did here.
Yeah would be nice having videos about those dinos's taiming. This video is excellent.
UA-cam "Captain Fatdog". You're welcome
@@jredacted8229 thanks a lot that is a nice discovery for me. Thanks!!
he's already done one for the karkinos....heres the link :) ua-cam.com/video/v4Qc6gDtT58/v-deo.html
I love the part when you are about to tame the Phoenix but just when it’s at 82% literally every known creature that’s dangerous spawns in right next to you and your trap and kills you repeatedly and breaks your bed and then a scorpion comes and knocks you out and keeps doing it……. Just me
amazing wow
Thanks
You sir have outdone yourself
I do concur, one of his finest.
This video is old but this is for the people who found this to help tame one. The last trap is what you want and you want a lot of oil and a torch or a few. Each oil pile you light on fire counts as a fire hitting the phoenix. So in the end you could tecneckly tame a phoenix in 1 second.
Steve do you think a magmasaur ( hold right click )would be a nice taming method in place of the Fire Wyvern?
thanks mate
Bought scorched yesterday lmao
Now once I get scorched I can tame a Phoenix, thank you
I wonder if you could set the fire wyvs to turret mode and put them and agressive as well?
Thx
hey. that last attack you did. I think it's the c button. harvests metal nodes and corpses
HEADS UP FOR PEOPLE DOING THIS ON AN OFFICIAL DEDICATED SERVER: I tried this yesterday on a 1X server on a level 15 phoenix. I used up 68 of my 100 oil jars just to get it to 82%, also keep in mind to make sure there are no hostile dinos near you while you are throwing the oil jars, I did this and the worst thing happened. I was throwing the oil jars it got to 82% when a scorpion came up and hit me once which was all I needed to screw me in the ass, next thing I know there are 2 Carnos and a sabertoothand my bird almost died. I stayed up till 3 on a school night because i thought i almost had it and waited 1:30 minutes for another heatwave but didn’t come. Make sure you also have a lot of free time and have lots of beds because super heat and more fire done mix well
Unironically brilliant. 300 IQ plays by Nooblets over here
no its only 150 mate
cool
got luck found a 150 while taming a rock golam , lol hope iv put trap in right place
Would the process be faster with the ember wyvern?
Hi noobs I'm a huge fan I'm not sure if you've ever made a vid for a mosa trap if not then will u in the future
yep look up The epic way to tame a mosa
Steve, amazing work as usual!
I'm curios where you're from though? I'm a northerner myself, but if I had to guess I'd say you were from Stoke or Nottingham?
Steve is best ark player
I dont have se, but there ist a Kind of se part on ragnarok, are there also superheats and phoenix?
Anyone tried to trap it with a tek skiff ? Or it doesn’t work like it doesn’t with managarmr?
Thanks for the hot content.
Coolio!
Have you revisited this for ASA yet?
Were you able to get 100% effectiveness? It looked like it was dropping with these methods, so I was wondering if a perfect tame is even possible since these are the best ways to attempt it.
yer it only goes down if you dont keep hitting it with fire, like when i stoppped and waited for it to despawn
@@NOOBLETS Awesome, thank you for the great vid :)
Although I don't play scorched. This will be certainly helpful if I ever get it
Would an ember wyvern do better?
You should do a video of best turret placement and structures!!!!
Can I use stimmberries on him to gain silicium pearls
do ember wyverns work for taming?
They do, no reason they wouldn't. I think fire wyverns are more effective, but I'm not sure
yep and fire
love SE
the c attack is for harvesting metal stone wood etc
They get metal too? Personally, I like using the C attack to sweep small attackers off their feet and blow them back fifty yards!
Had the map a long time and still never found one
Did something change! I cannot place a gateway on the quetzal
Try, "rare flower"
Just a question does a more damage% fire wywern give more taming %?
it looks like it, but when putting points into the wyvern stamina might be more important
Thanks
I wonder if you have S+ will the flame turret work?
And now we've got taming trackers. Ah yea
I thought the oil jars in ur other vid was a better method? Obviously trap it no matter what method
This is how I breed my magmasaurs on extinction Steve. 2 fire wyverns and you can breed them anywhere. Just the female needs to be hit with flames, not the male
That will quickly become a problem if you have 30 females and 3 lines though :p
I tried this and didn't seem to work. I assumed it was patched out.
how about using skiff to catch phoenix
Can you use a flamethrower for this?
Yes
Let’s hope nothing has changed after 3 years
Good Trap designs! But I prefer using a good (!) compound bow and flame arrows, combined with the Quezal trap to tame it. Works pretty well and saves you the need to first tame some Fire Wyvern.
Nooblets is the OG of Ark tutorials!
Could you just follow the phoenix and build the trap where-ever it happens to de-spawn? I guess that way the trap is not re-usable though at that point in the game resources are probably not a limiting factor?
I was wondering this. Seems like a sensible approach to mark the place the Phoenix despawns and simply build a trap over it, using fence foundations maybe, rather than solid ones. Don't know though, I'm struggling to even find the one again which I saw the other day.
Edit: and yes, I did watch it, I just meant that I think the only sensible way is a trap over the ashes, rather than multiple kiting traits or the mobile one. 👍🏻
Didn't you watch the video?
Well yes but it seems like you overcame the 'spawning-on-top' problem by using a hatchframe at the top and making the trap at least 5 high? Phoenixes have always been in the 'too hard basket' for me so this is interesting!
Iv played official since release on xbox. Never tamed or owned a Phoenix 😂 never had them work
Hardest thing is finding one which very few people actually tell you that even during a heatwave you HAVE to have the red heat AND orange heat for it to be in area. Taming them is a piece of piss
C button harvests metal and bite gets stone
Half way through and I wondered could you use a quetz with a platform saddle and a trap
Hey Steve can you do a video taming a 150 on 1x with one flam arrow and 50 oil jars. I did it this way once and I was called out as a lair. I just kept throwing the oil jars so the flam doesn’t go out
Noobs your great with these videos. But I had a question you might be able to help with. Where are generalized places the Phoenix may spawn? I've searched online for this but gotten limited results that were not exactly correct. I dont have a computer so I cannot use S+ with the dino search features. Could you possibly try a couple searches to see where they typically tend to spawn?
jesus christ took a while but we got there
can the ember wyvern be used instead of fire wyverns?
Nooblets! Can you do some videos on cave runs and boss fight basics for those of us that have never done them?
Could you slowly land the quetz with the Pheonix flying in the cage?
Helllo
Could you put the trap on a periser (idk how to spell it )or bronto
Got one. He's cool but slow
Stil use full 1 year later
