I'm AMAB nonbinary and it's been a catch-22 for me. The one good thing about testosterone has been the upper body strength, which I've relied on for most of my life. However, I can certainly do without the aggression, short temper, and hair loss with age. I have a particularly deep voice that makes me sound like Shao Kahn, which leads to people perceiving me the wrong way. At times I've related to trans women who say testosterone felt like poison in their blood. Yet I'm not sure I'd want to go the other way, as I've also seen studies indicating that migraines can be worsened by an increased estrogen-to-testosterone ratio. At this point I'm still not entirely sure how I feel about it.

Thank you! One thing to remember about HRT, chest-binding, and every other aspect of medical transition: they are medical treatments. And like any medical treatment, it's up to you and your doctor to decide if the benefits outweigh the drawbacks. For me, T was a last resort to treat depression where other treatments had failed - and it worked wonders. I'm ENJOYING LIFE for the first time since I was a kid. But I don't 100% like the way it changed my face and body on a superficial level. Still worth it, no regrets, but not all sunshine and rainbows either.

It's a soft blocker, in that it doesn't reduce testosterone levels directly, but it blocks it from being converted to dihydrotestosterone, which is the form of testosterone that does the balding and the BO. Yo. Consider getting a prescription for finasteride when you feel like you've finished male-puberty (trans or not).
DHT makes a bunch of Europeans go bald, because essentially the scalp is allergic so it becomes inflamed and chokes out the hairs.
I was diagnosed with early onset male-pattern baldness and started taking it and it's been a godsend. It converts DHT back into Testosterone, so there's nothing to be concerned about there.
I've kept developing new muscle and growing some odd random hairs on my upper arms and such, my beard has kept growing.
Most importantly, my hairline is recovering. It takes a little while, but it's healthy.

gender expression and gender identity are different; one being how you express yourself through clothes and body type while the other is what you identify as, so in short, no going on T does not make you a man, but technically you are trans since trans is an umbrella term which means that anybody who isn’t cis is trans but that label is completely up to you to choose

I'm a cis guy on testosterone (because my body does not make nearly enough naturally whether for male or female) & I got to talk to one of my trans guy cousins who's already on T gel & thinking about getting the injections. I recommend it.
The gel is annoying to apply, sometimes doesn't dry for 30+ mins, it's somewhere between sticky & slick, & you're not supposed to shake hands or anything for about an hour after putting it on (granted that's not as much of an issue these days).
Injections are how I do it.
The injections are every 10 to 14 weeks depending on your body & what you need it to do.
It doesn't take long to do, but if it's Nebido (what I get) then the liquid is quite viscous & can be uncomfortable when it is injected.
It *can* be annoying to walk after as it has to go into the back of your hip around the top of your butt.
In my experience walking it off helps to ease the discomfort.
The advantage of the gel is that the testosterone levels are mostly the same throughout an extended period as you apply it every day.
The injections *will* boost it right at the beginning, but then it will fall off over time. This is why the period between injections needs to be fine tuned with blood tests to make sure that your body gets enough, but not too much.
