I take AL Eng Lit, in yr 12, and honestly needed this so much. I find it the hardest subject to have a structured revision technique for, compared to, for example, psychology where its very modular with the specific essay plans you have to memorise and condense. Thank you!
Thank you... I just got my GCSE mock English Literature and I was very disappointed... But now I’ll follow your advise and hopefully I end up with my desired grade. GOOD LUCK GCSE STUDENTS!!!

So I live in America and I am taking AP (advanced placement) English lit which is probably the equivalent of your A levels. It’s crazy to me that you know the works going into the exams. All of our poems and prose passages are provided on our exam (besides one essay but we can use any novel of or choice). Honestly your study methods are so helpful even if our exams are so different. I’ve watched your videos for a while now and they are so motivating!
I didn’t even take English Literature for A Level (did take English Language though!!) but here to support the channel as ever 💞 it’s just interesting to hear about other subjects tbh
Yay!! Thank you so much Lydia for uploading these revision videos more frequently. They really help me for my upcoming final exams. I really appreciate it, your videos are life savers. 💖😊
Thank you so much for this! As a fellow English lit A level student, I really struggle with ways of actually revising; this has been so helpful thanks :)
In year 13 (A2) history became difficult to manage because there was a lot of precise information you need to learn to get the top grades and it is 10x more than the content you will receive in first year of a levels. I did ocr and also had to change the essay writing style from year 12 to year 13. The content I studied was the early Stuart’s, Germany and Italy. But with that being said you need to ensure that you keep on top of your revision notes and memorise them from the very beginning because it will help a lot and in year 12 as it is significant that students do well in all of their exams because what you achieve in first year is what universities will determine whether or not they would want to provide you with a place. Whereas I also studied English literature and that was easier because all we had to do is read and analyse books and poetry for the exam.
Sanya Akhtar ohhh alright, thank you so much for letting me know!! I was going to pick it but ended up enrolling for psychology, sociology and English lit💗💕
In Mauritius we have 8 literature books at A-level....and it called English main and we do our exam on November and it direct by Cambridge.....i love your video and appreciate what's your doing ...love u❤
These revision videos are extremely helpful, even though I am a college student in California, USA. I find them extraordinarily useful with advancement of productivity in my studies.
students can get access to lit charts as well, they are really useful and if you download the teacher package as well it gives you some great set ups for revision. A membership is about 10 dollars a month and it works great!!!
I have 30 war poems and 15 love poems to revise and I’m honestly just lost but this video is so useful! English lit at a level is so hard to revise but this video is so useful and reassuring that there is a way 😂 thank you! Xxx
I want up update my character summaries as I’ve not done them for poetry so need to get them done. I also struggle to organise my criticism quotes 😬 one method I like to do is a quite bank of every important quote in order of the novel with analysis xx
Thank you so much Lydia! These tips were really helpful. I wish I was just doing literature, but at my school there are not a lot of students, so I only had the option to do Lang-lit lol I’m enjoying it though!
I haven’t started my a level revision yet and I’m sooo scared. I do English lit , Biology and sociology 😭😭💔. I’ve never actually revised properly for anything and now I have like 6 weeks till my first exam and I’m super scared
Hello Lydia! This is so much helpful for me! Really, now I am sure that I can achieve very high grades in English Literature.... Thank you very very very very very very much! Bye.... Have a great day..... Lots of love ❤❤❤
Anyone doing AQA have any ideas on how to study texts in combination? EG: the comparison of the Poetry Anthology to Gatsby in Paper 1, and comparison of Spies to Birthday Letters in Paper 2. Any help would be much appreciated xxox
Al Louise I compare gatsby and love poems in my spec, my teacher gave us a list of themes and aspects and I went through the anthology to find 3 poems that would match the theme best and 3 key points from gatsby and then made flash cards for each theme and found this really useful x
I'm in uni taking a degree in english language and literature, and i find this video really helpful for me to revise my literature subjects bcs we hv lotssss of readings to do and sometimes idek where to begin hahaha thanks for the video ❤
Got my coursework result today I’m on the OCR examboard too, I got 40/40 so now it’s just a final push for the exams! The grade boundaries are so high for the papers it’s so annoying
So I’m comparing Grapes with Gatsby and I’m OCR as well how are you revising for this exam?? Like for the wide reading context? Have you read any extra books? Any tips would be appreciated
I'm not sure about psychology but for law from everything I've heard English Lit is better. It's a facilitating subject that many of the top universities like. But if you might not be able to get as as good grade as u would in lang than choose lang not lit. Definitely don't take law a level. I went to a university and the lady their who I asked told me they'd rather u didn't have law and it's not as vigorous as some of the other a levels out there that u could be doing. Hope I helped:)
Been looking forward to this! I'm in year 12 and currently struggling with figuring out how on earth I cover all of the content!

Do people in your class expect you to get top grades?
Nope
I usually only study for 4 hours each day except for Sunday then again I am only in grade 8
