- The story trailer for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor finally gave us our first new look at Merrin and Greez! But it also confirmed some fun fan theories about the High Republic, showed off some new locations, and gave us an idea of the Star Wars themes this story will likely explore. I can't wait!

One reason why I love Star Wars Explained so much is because they speculate responsibility. Alex was spot on when he said the alien might be a gen'dai.

I hope at some point the Crew of the Mantis may be considered the Videogame equivalent of the Ghost Crew from Rebels
Been waiting for this breakdown gameplay looks insane and it come out on my birthday this will be such a treat
It is so good to see Merrin and Greez again, hope they expand on their characters. I'll say this though, as a good and bad thing I do like the fact that we don't know a whole lot about what to expect with the story. We've gotten bits and pieces of it which is fine and heightens anticipation, BUT I do worry that this story finds itself being lesser than the first game in terms of progressing the overall endgame of these characters and their journey's. I hope I am wrong about that but so far with what I've seen already I just hope we get more to go along with. Idk if anyone else gets what I mean.
I am worried about the story as the goal of finding a safe place does not sound like the best story, and therefore I am worried the game will not have as good of a story as Jedi Fallen Order (I loved Jedi Fallen Order). I hope this game will be better than its predecessor. At least in terms of story wise. Hope they can handle the story well, as this trailer made me a tiny bit sceptical.
@@CornPopcorn I mean idk if finding a safe place is the main point of the story but regardless I just hope there is a bigger end goal to it all. I am not saying it has to connect to something we've seen before but I'd rather this game not just focus on something smaller than before.
@@OrionInSpace They (EA/Respawn) also said they want to make a third game so the story has to end in some way for the next game to be able to continue Cal's story

Agree, they have to end all characters stories one way or another. I feel like someone has to die in this game or the next to have some sort of impactful ending to their arcs, or maybe, Cal turning to the dark side due to losing his Mantis family or something in that area. I'm hoping that Respawn can cook a memorable story to the series, cause even though the gameplay is the most important factor for a succesful game, I personally prefer a story that I'll remember and embrace for a long time.
So happy for this! I think there's a High Republic Era jedi!
Every since I played a Star Wars game, all I wanted to do was explore a part of Coruscant in an open world Star Wars game. Even if I can't explore it openly, this gives me hope I might one day.
Cere probably found evidence of a HR Jedi in stasis and sent Cal to recruit him. She doesn't want to fight anymore so it would make sense to have Cal find a new master
I am SO happy to see Merrin and Greez in this trailer. Finally. That's all I wanted from this trailer and I wasn't disappointed! Can't wait for this game!
I'm so happy that Merrin will be joining Cal in the field in this game. My one real issue with Jedi Fallen Order was that we didn't get a lot of time with Merrin after she joins the crew, she was one of the best characters. Glad she's getting a lot more screentime in Survivor. I can't wait to see that campfire scene with her and Cal play out in full. I love her new outfit. I love that it's a mix of her Nightsister outfit but also regular clothing like a jacket, showing how she's experienced the galaxy since she first joined Cal. I really hope they've done some training together in the Force, I think it would be so interesting to see.
It's also great to see Greez. I'm glad he'll be back. The whole crew is back in action, baby! I really like his new look too. Greezy got some style going on in this game. I'm interested to see what he and Cere are up to at this point. And I'm excited to meet Bode, who I now know is voiced by Noshir Dalal, which has me psyched! He's a fantastic voice actor, I loved him in RDR2 so I think he'll be a great addition to the Mantis crew!
I'm very excited to go to Coruscant and see what Cal gets up to there. I wonder if there will be a moment where he'll see the Jedi Temple but it's not the Jedi Temple, it's Palpatine's Imperial Palace! That would be such an emotional gutpunch but I think it would be fitting if he's continuing to grapple with his role as a surviving Jedi. It did NOT even occur to me that red, sandy planet might be Korriban/Moraband! I dare not hope but if it is, I will lose my damn mind! It would be a great parallel to explore both ancient Jedi and Sith ruins in this game because we know there's some Jedi Temple on Koboh that we can explore.
I'm also super hyped that we're getting a High Republic character in this game. Those gold garments were a giveaway! I think that's a great choice for a villain. They could do so much with that character and any possibility I think of sounds interesting! I wonder if he'll be an enemy as soon as we meet him or if he might even appear as an ally really briefly. Maybe he and Cal will get along at first but as this guy learns more about the state of the galaxy, he starts blaming Cal and turns on him. I'm personally thinking that he'll snap and turn to the dark side when he comes out of the tank and sees what happened to the Jedi Order. I don't think he necessarily was Dark when he went in and it's possible he may just suffer a break upon release. Seeing the Jedi and the Republic both destroyed might be what cause him to snap and align himself with the Bedlam Raiders and the Gen'Dai character, Reyvus. And also seeing him again just reminds me how anxious I am to fight him. Dude is going to be freaking unkillable and is gonna be a nightmare in boss battles. I just know it. I can't wait!
I also wonder if we're going to see any Inquisitors in this game. Maybe the Ninth Sister will return or we may see more of them chasing Cal. I'd imagine he's something of a priority after he assaulted their headquarters and escaped Vader. Maybe we'll even see some familiar faces like the Grand Inquisitor, the Seventh Sister or the Fifth Brother make an appearance. IDK why, I just like the idea that Cal shot to the top of Inquisitors Most Wanted or something after they escaped Nur lol
Does anyone hear have an idea on who that X-wing that we can see pursuing a tie fighter for a brief second belongs to? Maybe Saw? Or whoever Cal allies himself with on Corusant perhaps?
The Jedi fallen order series is the best Star wars IP we’ve had in forever. This gives me hope that Star Wars can go back to what it once was back when the EU was considered canon to the fans.
I loved the first game very much. It’s that kind of game that we needed in Star Wars now. I enjoyed Cal Kestis and the Mantis crew and i’m so excited to see them back for more adventures. May the Force be with Respawn Entertainment.

I feel like the purge trooper inconsistentancy is going to be overlooked. But not by fans. I give it a month or two before a mod exists to fix it for my fellow PC Players.
Merrin’s “fire” comment could also be taken to mean that she’s teaching Cal to use magic. She’s shown using a Force ability, so it would make sense that that’s gone both ways.
And are you sure that other guy’s name isn’t something like Nat-hann Drejk? That look isn’t very original.

It's probably unlikely with the current Soule comics, but my first thought on that asteroid was something in No-Space like the Great Hall... but that may just be me getting overly excited about THR connections lol
The asteroid “place to hide” reminds me of the Last of the Jedi series
God, I hope Coruscant will be part of the open world...
I can't wait for this game! And I may be wrong but it seems to me that every new show and game that gets released is meant to set everything in place to move the action to the unknown regions where there will be no limitation to who survive or what happens because those parts of the galaxy wouldn't have been affected by the events of the OT or the sequels. And I'd love to see that happening.

I'm thinking the Jedi might be a Soikan. They're described as having silver skin, white hair and lilac eyes. All of that seems to track with his design.
As a non-gamer, the words “it’ll scratch that tomb raiding itch I have” is slightly horrifying
5:24 important detail that you can see right at the end of this small clip is an x-wing popping in on the left side for a moment which could mean this is something BIG occurring around Cal in the sky

The trailer music heavily featured Merrin's theme so I hope her part of the story is very significant.
It's gonna be a long month of waiting... I hope the promos and trailers stay this vague about the story and don't do what happened with Fallen Order after it came out
I'm torn on whether or not I want to revisit Fallen Order to refresh myself or just wait for Survivor so I'm not burned out on playing

While I don’t want a rehash of the last game, I am curious if we will see any more of the Inquisitors (namely one that could have survived last game) and/or another encounter with “the chosen one” 👀
The High Republic Jedi does fall to the dark side. It's evident in the reveal trailer. If you pause frame by frame you can get a quick glimpse of the high republic robes over some black tunic, black lower robes and a mask as he's striking Cal with his one arm disarming Cal of his lightsaber.
So hyped for this game!!
If they end up doing the trilogy then I can only see Greez being the Greef Karga of the video games 😂 more drip each new game lol
i’m really hoping cere is a companion, shes my favorite character in the first game and honestly would work perfectly as the protagonist
I am super excited for Survivor, I loved Fallen Order but I hated the world map system, it was a nightmare to navigate. Really hope they improved that in the sequel

The fact that they didn’t update the Purge Trooper armor to Phase 2 for this game to match with the Kenobi series is disappointing in my opinion.

Also, there's a different shot of Cal crossing blades with the enemy. His lightsaber is now a Crossguard Lightsaber. In the previous trailer, the shot was closer, so we didn't see the Crossguard.
No, we could see the crossguard, it simply was not activated, the blade shrouds were in line with the main blade shroud

I can honestly say as a Star Wars fan of almost 49 years that I'm sick to death of having story beats explained in tie in novels.
Something I can’t help but wonder is what other characters may or may not show up in the game. We got Darth Vader and Saw Gerrera in the first game so…
I will be SO sad if Cal falls to the Dark side :(
(But the idea of it being a continued struggle of his through the game, family vs. No attachments, is an interesting idea (and I keep thinking of Rebels with that, because Kanan was a Padawan who didn't complete his training just like Cal is, but who, also just like Cal, got knighted later on despite this fact. And Kanan/Caleb was a Jedi who had a LOT of attachment, but still never fell to the dark, and Ezra has the internal struggle of light vs dark in that show, which we saw a snippet off in Cal in Fallen Order too, but like his Master, Ezra also chose the light in the end... It would be sad if Cal ends up being another Anakin...)
Heck, maybe we'll even get a brief glance of Kanan and Hera, as they should have been together for a couple of years, by this point in the timeline :)

Totally unrelated to the story but I'm hoping we get more lightsaber color options I wanted to have a two different colored saberstaff in fallen order but that's not an option without mods I can't wait to see how much they have improved the lightsaber customization overall in this one

That asteroid idea gives me PTSD flashbacks back to when the jedi that were with Ferus Olin did the same thing. It didn't end well for them and I would like for Cal not to meet the same fate

Those resisting the imp gunship might be courasant police for the lower sectors aka the underworld. They have the armour and somewhat yellow marking so maybe, just maybe. Could be wrong.

Honestly, the first thing I thought about, after seeing this trailer was considering how much blood and/or unnecessary organs I'll have to sell just to afford a PS5, let alone this game... 😢
