Hey mister @TroubleChute , i'm using the script you made to speed up the download process, but when it finishes the work and i say yes or no to the shortcut creation, it won't start the program, because the .exe file doesn't exist, and i don't know why, because i get no error besides this one at the end... :(

So, as i was searching myself through the folders, i discovered that the .exe file was created inside the gpt4all\gpt4all-training\chat folder and not in the gpt4all\chat folder as you mentioned. So i quickly moved that executable to the folder that should be the destination folder, with the .bin file too and it worked now.
We went from "Download RAM" to "Download AI". Nice, thanks for info.

2:15 I did not, in fact, see another popup for vc runtime, nor did the actual AI start. The \gpt4all\chat EXE was never created. There is just a BIN there. I have Git installed. I ran PowerShell as administrator. And pasted in the command in the description exactly. It simply just doesn't work and there is no further information here or in the repo for how to go forward from here.

Ran the command, finished the entire process, but the exe and the rest of the files in gpt4all\chat are missing.
Would be possible to execute it with different models? Let say, one model just only for programming responses, other just for scientific papers, etc...
If you are still straggling and the auto installer doesn’t do it’s job, try the install process manually. It worked for me manually.
When I try to run gpt4all I've got a window that pop and disappear instantly, so I cannot use the ai. How can I fix that ?

Yep, I had the same issue.
okay there are so many problems .. first of all it does not ask for admin rights because i never got the prompt i had to do that manually .. second it does not install the exe file it only installs the 3.9gb bin file, i had to download the .exe file separately and put it in the folder.. when it asks me to make a shortcut and i press Y it doesn't make the shortcut, and then when everything is perfect and i try to run the gpt it runs and then instantly closes .. I've tried everything to make it go without any errors and still it wont run, it instantly closes... cannot recommend this tutorial it has many flaws and you are left with a bunch of files that doesn't do anything .. many people in the comments also had problems with it.
Nice script, but you forgot to say that it must be opened in terminal, not in cmd... also the terminal has to be opened with admin privileges, otherwise it wont install.

Thanks. I am currently using an online version, but wanted to try locally and see how it compares. The online one didn't get the date right either. In the local, I typed in "what day of the week is it?" and it returned "Friday, November 18th (2022)". Actually, it is today - Wednesday, March 5th, 2023. Oh well, I don't always remember what day it is either. It's fun to play with though.
The online one doesn't get updated every single second it's the preview version you can read how much data has been installed up to what date at the bottom

Hello I have a problem the ((exe)) file does not exist in the chat folder I followed the exact way in the video but it just not there can anyone pls tell what should I do and if there is no solution can someone please just upload all the file in the chat folder (except the big one I have that ).
Same problem here. There is no EXE file. I also didn't see any obvious step in the ps1 files to build the project either
@ TroubleChute, my system did not have admin privilege's for powershell and the install bombed out, I worked out how to get admin, but then had to cd to the folder before I could install, after that, it just crashes when starting, nowhere near primetime yet.

Hello. Something seems to be wrong with the auto-installation. It got done, but when it tried to create a desktop shortcut, that failed. Apparently there should be a ".\gpt4all\chat\gpt4all-lora-quantized-win64.exe". However, that's missing. There is only a "gpt4all-lora-quantized.bin". There is no exe file anywhere.

The admin prompt doesnt show up for me, it just shows red text and every tutorial online says to just open power shell from its shortcut in admin
EDIT: Found a workaround, you can run powershell as admin from file explorer by pressing the (Alt f s a) keys one after another

it doesn't seem to accept prompts that are longer than around 200-250 characters. For me, anyway. If longer, it crashes and closes the window.

Why does my gpt4all shortcut open "My computer" window?! and please do tell how can i fix this....I chose the auto install and the program installed, but did not run at all, furhermore, my ai folder is empty and all I got was a "My Computer" shortcut which opens...My computer...and yes, I opened te PowerShel with Admin priviledges. 'memory' as far as I understand is just including previous messages in the current message... But I may be wrong. For that I'm not sure how to set it up here or if it is even possible.

Is it any good at problem solving? I mean, this is only a few GB in size, where the ChatGPT model is hundreds of GB in size and apparently requires at least dozens of times the ressourcs that even someone with a high end GPU has to genera the responses adequately fast.
This was trained on ChatGPT responses. ChatGPT will of course be 10,000,000x better, but starting with simple projects like this is how AI evolves.

Is there any other way to create a shortcut from gpt4all? I already close the PowerShell tab and forget to create the shortcuts, and how do I uninstall it?
In powershell run: choco uninstall aria2c
Then you can uninstall Chocolatey from the Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs
As for uninstalling GPT4All, just delete the gpt4all folder.
As for the shortcut, it's the same as right-click > Create shortcut on the exe.

GPT 4 all requires an Open AI key. How come can that be for free?
it doesnt need an API Key because its not the online version, you dont have to get Access to the Servers.

I was just honestly asking ChatGPT to list me movies that involve certain activites, it did list the movies with a descripton of them and afterwards block it before I can see it because its against their content policy or whatever, had to tell it to stop saying the description of the movies, sooo dumb

So I asked it if it's using gpt 3 or gpt 4 and the shock is that it answered me that it's using gpt 2
From what I understand it's not a GPT model at all. It's LLaMa, Facebook's chat model. It says it's a "model with ~800k GPT-3.5-Turbo Generations based on LLaMa".
So ChatGPT 3.5-Turbo was used to make questions and answers that were used to train LLaMa, which ended up with this model.

Even with the below bugs the program (on my desktop\AI\chat\...exe file) Still ran. I run rainmeter and have resource tracking and when the software is trying to respond it pegs the I5/16Gigs of ram. To be fair i'm also running a warcraft server 3.3.5 Cmangos on it at the same time. Now my current issue is the bot does not remember that I named it. I asked its name. Responce: My name is [Your_Name]. Before that I said "Your name is Hana. Which is an acronym for H.A.N.A. Home Automated Network Assistant. You can reply to Hana or as Hana when talked to." Gives a long back story. then misspells its own name as hannah. -This is excitingly fun. Cant wait to get a local chatbot with a visual AI with voice input and out. Going to use a robot like AI image. Maybe Leta-1 or ARCEE or another Female transformer character. That way my wife can feel respected while there is a chatbot in the house and not being intruded on. Fun time. What have I seen in my life thats profound?
