I had two bottles sitting on the counter for so long. No matter how long I soaked them for, they wouldn't come clean. None of my 5 or so cleaning brushes were cutting it. But this worked relatively quickly. Thank you so much!
Ahhh..... It's a good day! Always a good day when I learn something! :D My wife is fighting cancer and juicing greens, carrots, and beets is part of her daily routing (10-13 cups a day). I use 500ml kombucha jars because they fit in the fridge, but they're a royal pain to clean! Even with a bottle brush. This is awesome! Will be using this method going forward... Thanks!
I’m always a fan of “with the right hack, cheap & easy can be just as effective as more expensive solutions.” I have the same size jugs shown in the video - half gallons, almost 2 liters - & I can’t find them in a more cleaning-friendly design. But if you’re only juicing on average up to 750 ml at a time, then you might want to look into Crew Supply Co. bottles. They’ve been quickly adopted by the craft cocktail & bar community because they’re 850 ml, wine/liquor bottle sized/shaped, & (most importantly) they have a screw-off bases so they can be filled (& cleaned) from the bottom (I haven’t tried them, but I’d imagine that means popping them in the dishwasher probably actually gets them get clean on the 1st go-around). The convenience is somewhat reflected in the price, but not terribly-terribly (about $25/ea; less when you purchase more at the same time). You might wanna check them out. Lastly, I hope you feel encouraged by this random internet stranger when I say that, not only do I believe your wife to be an absolute warrior to be putting up a fight against her cancer, but that you’ve got some mettle as well to be taking care of her the way that you do. I hope you both get chips on your shoulders, because you deserve to & I’m proud of you guys for the hard work you’re putting in at making the world a better place with your presences. Alright, I’m done.
I've tried several tips from several videos. This one is the best. It works. It takes few seconds to have the bottles shinning. Thank you very much for sharing this video
Was in a pinch and used old dried lentils instead. Worked like a CHARM! Rinsed them off real good after and left them in the dirt for a squirrel or some birds to eat ♻️ 🌲 Thank you so much this is a total LIFESAVER! 😍🎉
Thank you! Have the exact same bottles. Feels like prayers got answered. My wife's gonna be happy when she sees them shining. Told her to check youtube for years. Gonna feel even more awesome when I share the link and tell her 'told you so!' Lol. Thanks buddy.
You are a genius, man! Thank you so much. I love things that are so simple and work so well. I've been trying to clean this delicate antique cordial bottle for years. This method solved the problem in 2 minutes. Wonderful.
This method works so well, I didn't believe it at first but it even cleaned some mould from the inside of my bottle! Took less than 5 minutes overall. Thank you so much for sharing
My gym bottles had residual stains of preworkout, I soaked it in hot water, with liquid detergent and what not.. I watched this video went back to kitchen and tried it will all bottles and it workedddd like charm.....!!!! wow. Thankyou for the video.!!!
Thank you so so much for this helpfull advise. I was finally able to clen my Glass bottle that has been a bit to dirty inside and now it looks brand new again. So thank again.😉
Thanks for the vid. This really works ! I had an antique soda bottle from my great grandparents soda company that was always hazy/foggy and a bit dirty on the inside. I did not want to mess with it, but since this used no hard chemicals and cleaned only the inside, I tried it. It really improved it and brought it to life ! The embossed lettering is now easier to read too.
Wow, I never would have guessed, but this actually works great. Just cleaned out my favorite glass bottle for iced tea with it. It had those disgusting specks in them, might have been yeast. They're all gone now. Thanks for the instructions!
Thank you I just found a milk bottle from Rosebud Creamery that was stationed in Detroit, MI back in 1908 and the bottle was at a construction site that I was working at, which the bottle was found about 30 feet deep and not a scratch on it, but definitely needs a good cleaning
My case was a little bit tougher. I tried the rice and the lentils but neither of them worked very well, so I had to use some small river rocks that I had taken out of my water fountain. It took some time, but it eventually worked. 👍
For the transfer or reclamation of the rice you can use a strainer and a bowl. Then probably spoon it back into another bottle something like that. This is an excellent way to do this.
Pretty good idea and the first I've seen of it. I usually soak them in a water and vinegar solution but the above seems to work on the hard stuff a lot better.
There are old bottle cleaners...they have bristles in a circular pattern around twisted wire. On each end is a different width & you can bend it. They used to sell them back in the day...not sure if they still do. Thanks! (Lol...I’m probably the only one w/no rice!) GREAT IDEA! Rice won’t scratch the bottle! VERY SMART! 👍
I was a little skeptical to be honest. But I tried this method on a 1 gallon glass container with some nasty stains from beer making and this worked beautifully. Thanks!
Table salt also works well and is pretty cheap. I The slurry can be re-used a few times before it gets too yucky. If there are calcium deposits (haze from minerals in your water), substituting citric acid powder for part of the salt helps dissolve the calcium without harming the glass.
Thank you for posting this technique. I have a really old wine jug that I dug up that was full of rust and crud inside. I let it soak overnight with some citric acid and hot water to help loosen the rust. Then I didn't have rice but I had some pearled barley and using your method the jug looks brand new. I was amazed how well that worked.
Awesome. I know some use bb's but then you have to be sure you dry them well and put them back in their container. This would be much simpler and I would throw the wet rice down a mole hole after! Thank you!!
Wow this works really good!! I was playing and putting baby powder and watter into my bottle (im 11 and im just bored) and i had no idea how to clean it out so thanks alot!!
Wow that's really good. I thought the cloudiness is from bad quality glass, not necessarily that there was a film of something on the inside that could be washed away. Thanks for the info!
I put dish washing liquid, very warm water in the bottle, let it soak for a bit. Then stretched out a wire clothes hanger, wrapped my dish rag around the hooked end & started wishing in the bottle. Do it till it’s clean. You can maneuver that wire hanger in all different directions & it’s long enough too. Hope this helps.
tried your method on a 7 gallon bottle, rice was ok,but i switched to common gravel used as an abrasive on city sidewalks,no soap no water, the boottle had lots of calcium build up and after 45 minutes of rolling it back and forth on a table and voila,,i rinsed it out using water and a very limited amount of dish soap its now very clear and i can start to build my tererium, thanks for the rice tip however

I know what you mean about the soap taste in a plastic container. I mean it's just hard to rinse it out! I switched to glass and stainless steel. I'm looking for a tin cup like I had as a kid. Water tastes the best when drank from tin.
Worked well even with a single spoon of rice. It was a Tupperware bottle used to store buttermilk..this hack did not only clean but also the odour is gone now..thanks much !!
