This video has started to gain a CRAZY amount of views recently! This was my first ever video and I will be making a new and improved video after the World Championships. Stay tuned and Thank you!
He has some good times ahead! Really hope Kirani can get his 400m time down and challenge Niekerk and it looks like Fred Kerley could be a potential challenger in the years to come.
Wayde is a New Phenomenon. Not yet 25 years old, he is already become the Greatest Sprinter of All Time. Already. No one has come close to what he has achieved in the total sprint category. By that I mean what he has already achieved in *all 4* sprint events. 100, 200, 300 and 400, including world records in 300 and 400. Perfect mechanics, perfect power to weight ratio, amazing speed endurance, very light foot print, elegant and effortless form. His world record of 43.03 was run in lane 8. He never even *saw* anyone else the entire race. He was "alone". In effect, he set a world record while running a solo time trial. Unreal. He would have been sub 43 if he had a bit less lactic for the last 3 strides. And he knocked off .45 from his 2015 best time in only one year. I think he will go sub 43 soon. If he wants to.
The 400 is, without a doubt, the *toughest* and most demanding of all track events. And it is actually a sprint. The men's 400 has only been lowered *3 times* since 1968 in Mexico City when Lee Evans ran his 43.86. However it was set at altitude. That record lasted *20 years* until Butch Reynolds ran 43.29 in 1988. That lasted *11* years until Michael Johnson ran his 43.18 in 1999. Wayde lowered it by .15 last year to 43.03. But significantly, he lowered his own personal best time of the previous year, 43.48, by .45. That achievement, in terms of *improved personal performance*, is quite astonishing.
He is definitely one of the best. We will have to see after his career is complete if he can pass MJ on his global achievements since he already has the WR. His lane 8 could be argued to actually help his time. There is less curve on each turn. Plus they train to run not by gauging themselves with other runners but by experience in timing and pace. WVN was also one who ran many races pushing himself to the brink of his abilities - and that is what I like about him. If you notice runs by JW and MJ they hardly were tired in many of there runs. At least MJ at times tried to break his own WR but could not. WVN look like he was going to die after his runs. It is one thing that got him the record including the pace setting his coach set up. One thing that really bummed me out when JW was running is that he never went for the WR and always would say - 'it will come when it comes' - you can't do that with a time of 43.18. You have to go for it. JW was capable of better than his 43.45. Not sure it would have been better than 43.03 though but definitely could have approach MJ's record. I remember many times he just did not try for it because him and Hart thought it would just come by pushing little improvements each season. I hated that about his career.
I would like to apologise for the footage of Niekerk's WR run. Due to copyright there are not many good quality clips available and as a result what I have included is the best I could find. There is no way I could leave it out! Hope you enjoy.
supersonic~speed it could be a lot better though. Thankfully the IOC have calmed down with the whole copyright thing now so I should be able to use better footage in the future. I'm glad you liked the video!
I am doing sports day tomorrow and I look up to Wayde Van Niekerk And he is my favorite runner He is so fast And comes from an under privileged background Go Wayde 😲😃
This guy is a BEAST and one of my fav.!! Will own 400 , obviously , and I think will definitely compete for the 200m along with De Grasse. I don't know if he even is planning on seriously competing in the 100m..?? Maybe you know... but I think his best plan would be the 200-400 double. ?
He is has said in multiple interviews that he prefers shorter distances, and that is why he only started running the 400 at the age of 13. He runs the 200 quite often, but 100 not too much. He could definitely compete with top level 100m sprinters since his best time is 9.91. He is injured at the moment, so we'll have to wait and see what he does when he is fit to race again.
an andy he is definitely capable of this. He needs to get the balance right though when it comes to WC that he doesn't over do it and leave nothing for the other event.
definitely true, sometimes he gives so much to the 400m , one wonders if he was actually in the relays , would he be able to play a meaningful role? if he wants to take up the 200m next year he will have to forge anything below 43.50 and spare some energy for the 200m
an andy I think that is probably one of the reasons he isn't part of the 4x400. I was looking forward to seeing him do a sub 43 but I can't see him doing tha at now (I will be absolutely astounded if he does)
ya champions are great but you only break the world record once, i dont see him going below 43, plus this time he had james and merritt to push him, how long will they be around to challenge
Wayde is a great and world beating star but those suggesting that he is in Michael Johnson league are deluding themselves. Michael Johnson is arguably the greatest sprinter of all time. He still has the fastest time of 400m, when he ran the last leg of the 4 x 400m in 42.93 seconds at the WC in 1993. This was before he started his weightlifting - Johnson never wanted to do weight lifting because he believed that it would slow him down but because of the serious leg muscle injuries his coach Clyde Hart convinced him to start one, even then he would only spend an hour a day in the gym, I think he liked his cardio! He came to Atlanta in 1996 at 185lbs and 4-5% bf which he maintained until he retired. He first claimed the 400m Gold in 43.49 seconds and then a few hours later took 200 gold in 19.32s, despite stumbling out of the blocks. He claimed both titles on the same night. He was so far ahead of his competition it was unreal. There is no question that had he had competition he would have gone under 43s for the 400m easily, the reality was he was only sprinting at 90% most of the time, and 75-80% for his heats at the majors. You also have to remember the number of heats Johnson had to run before the finals of his events. The day Wayde equals what Johnson did on one night in 1996 then he would rightly claim the title of the greatest sprinter.
Johnson is not so superhuman after all..... I received the wrong information. He won his 400m final on July 29 1996 and then won the 200m in a new WR on the 1st August 1996.
Zee Huss Relay splits don't equate to the individual 400m event because of a running start. 42.92 seconds with a running start (Johnson) vs. 43.03 standing start (Van Niekerk). Johnson's fastest regular 400m is 43.18.
Van niekerk is the king. Stop spitting bullshit. Van Niekerk did 43.03 and Johnson never did better than that on a meet and he ran a lot of 400m in competitions and don't forget that Van Niekerk is only 24
i think he can definitely go sub 43 if he concentrates his efforts solely on that, doing the 200m and 400m would take too much out of him but I've been hearing talks about him beating the 200m world record, nahhh, thats a totally different thing, more pure power amd speed oriented with a considerable amount of speed endurance,he would have to be much more stronger and powerful of a sprinter to do so,i think the 200m world record would be quicker be broken by the returning Yohan Blake who seems to be slowly but surely getting back into his superb form
it wouldn't surprise me if he did break the 200m world record but it is like you said I can't see it happening at least not this year. Although I do think he will post a time quick enough to make it into the Top 10 200s at some point in his career.
reason why he winss -he dont put that much weight on his upper body/much muscles than other athletes(which makes his body lighter n ran faster)(also only focus on technique in running n leg muscles)
True, but he does have a unique achievement. He can run the 100m under 10 seconds, the 200m under 20 seconds, the 300m under 31 seconds, and the 400m under 44 seconds.

He shall dominate for a while. Very humble guy with brutal talent.
can't wait to see how he does this year!
Athletic Productionz
yes
I really want to see a sub43 from this guy
I think we will!
The amount of goosebumps I got while watching this video is crazy
he stays healthy and gold will be his for years! The Young King and bolt, bless him, the Great King! great videos man, 10/10.
He has some good times ahead! Really hope Kirani can get his 400m time down and challenge Niekerk and it looks like Fred Kerley could be a potential challenger in the years to come.

Jay Paine As much as I like Wayde, he is not the greatest all around sprinter of all time.
Strong idol of mine.
mine too
Absolutely the new king. Go Wayde you are the best
The new King indeed!
Can't wait to see how he does at the World Champs!

Athletic Productionz the quality of rio isn't that bad. Good job on the video!

My new idol! Love him!! And he is LFC fan omg!!!
Van Kiekerk is the star of the future. I can see him winning gold at all of his olympics in the 400m and maybe even break 43 seconds.
Van Nierkerk. Go you
football
シードレーンじゃなくても優勝したり世界記録叩き出したりするのスゴいよな
the upcoming king of sprint
all he needs to sement his name in history is the 200m olympic and world championship gold along with he 400m from 2017
an andy he is definitely capable of this. He needs to get the balance right though when it comes to WC that he doesn't over do it and leave nothing for the other event.

he wasnt at 4-5% body fat. Thats what some bodybuilders get to during their meets.

Watch out Usain Bolt, someone who's is able to world record the 400m can also have a shot on the 200m record. :-D
Really interested to see what he does this summer. Could be massive!
can you make a video about Jimmy Vicaut too he's the fastest sprinter in Europ...

He can definitely do that. It just depends on whether he commits himself to running a time like that.
Vn❤
Would be much better with words, not music!
he never beat justin yet. in the track. usain will renew his world record.
he didn't even beat 9.58
True, but he does have a unique achievement. He can run the 100m under 10 seconds, the 200m under 20 seconds, the 300m under 31 seconds, and the 400m under 44 seconds.
Talented kid but not no king as of yet so calm down!
He has the world record on 400m , he is the motherfucking king and he is no kid so calm down
He has the fastes he 400
I wouldn't call him a king. Micheal Johnson is still king
He has plenty of time left to get there.
Athletic Productionz lol I don't think he'll get there
Carl Morrow Oh lol i thought you were going to come up with intellectual facts and arguments. my bad✌ shoulda known
Carl Morrow so much of a king that he chicken out of a 150m race in his prime lol.
Tony Worrell he didn't chicken out dumbass.
