DeGrasse is a young kid, fresh out of college (2 years) so he had to earn his stripes so to speak. The narrative was Good (Bolt) v. Bad (Gatlin) DeGrasee didn't fit in. Then all the talking from DegRasse's Coach, which need not have been done, made matters worse. Btw he has only run sub 10 3x in his life... not counting that monsoon aided 9.68 (not even on world list and wind was way over the allowable) so he was not considered a major factor before Coleman, Gatlin, Blake or Simbine.. he is actually ranked Number 23 in the world! Of course many more Americans and Jamaicans who did not make their teams are ranked above him so... He has a lot of work to do, his Coach needs to be muted as it will ruin his chances at racing... like with anything there is a degree of politics thats goes along with money, fame and the opportunity to showcase your talent. I am a former collegiate and post collegiate athlete plus i now coach... I breath this stuff so not coming from the media perspective on this... I think bolt deliberately gave the race to gatlin because bold dide'nt look angry or nothing when he lost........and i saw bolt false start in a race an he was so angry but he did not look angry when he lost to gatlin.....an that's my opinion
