Wow well done to the mom. I dont think I could have done that maybe that's why someone up above made my circumstances so that it was taken out of my hands and I had to end up having a emergency c-section. Whether natural birth or c-section for first time moms it always a scary time

Is this less painful than lying down

it depends on your pain tolerance of course, but this is probably the best way you can give birth gravity helps in the long run😭

I birthed my 1st standing and I'd have done my 2nd that way if circumstances had been different. #2 I chose to be in the bed on my side so I could grab 5 minutes with him before NICU took him (he's fine now). I'll probably be vertical for my third!

Did you do 'Birth Canal Widening' painlessly gradually over a week to 10cm diameter, prior to birth with your first and second baby? As BCW decreases the risk of tearing dramatically, and totally avoiding the need for episiotomy, shortening birth for baby. Please see Wikipedia English 'Perineal Massage' and 'Mums Independent' on Facebook and links to birth videos on my UA-cam channel 'Advances in birth Aniball..'. 'Birth explained for children' and 'Opening Doors for Baby' and enjoy the poems and 'Custard making made fun for children' promoting Shakespeare. Birthing in the vertical position is the best, if mum can manage it.

She was able to push the baby out so fast and easy - why don't more women use the standing up method to give birth?!?

@@Black_Samurai-fish Yes, being on all fours, with your back up is a very fast and effective way to push a baby out as well.

Hi Kira, I was talking with my girlfriend about standing birth delivery. I knew a midwife who worked for the UN, she had told me that in Africa sometimes the women start having contractions and still then go to work, and then have the baby standing up and go back to work.
My gf was very offended to the idea that a woman can give birth without needing to rest and that it is this big energy draining thing. I don’t doubt that it drains energy and I don’t doubt that it would be much preferable to just rest afterwards, but I don’t think it’s impossible that the baby can just pop out and they continue on, especially if it’s not their first child…
I told her that was the difference between giving birth over many hours and giving birth in just a few minutes (at the time of arrival- know contractions can start early).
I wanted to research more, but the information is buried or maybe I don’t know how to type in what I’m looking for.
Would you be able to help me please? Maybe you can make or point me to videos/websites with more info on the subject?
My girlfriend is now mad that I’m a man who made and unthoughtful and crazy comment about giving birth and I have no idea what I’m talking about…

I think most importantly is women giving birth how THEY choose. But, at the same time, pass on to her that they don’t call it “labor” for nothing. Mothers should be active in their labors as it not only helps move birth along faster but can help position the baby for a faster, easier delivery. No mammal lays down to birth and neither do humans in most instances (except naps in labor, of course)

@@CajunStork yes!! Of course, whatever she thinks and likes I will support, I just hope to present good information for her to peruse because I think this is important to consider. Do you have any written material or know where I can find some? I’d like to be educated on this and be able to share this information for her to peruse as well

@@sethbrogdon You sound like a really sincere and thoughtful guy. My two cents on the "have the baby in a field and get straight back to work" approach, is that it's an unfortunate viewpoint that came out of something good (which was normalizing birth and empowering women to be able to do so with limited intervention).
Every traditional culture, unless they're in poverty, has an expectation that the mother will remain homebound for 3-6 weeks after giving birth. 40 days is a common number. Women they know (friends/family) or hire will come live in the home and effectively "mother the mother". I learned a lot about this in the postpartum chapter of the book Real Food for Pregnancy. In western culture, we don't have a practice for this. Many women who come to live here and give birth in the states are usually discouraged by it, since they grew up observing this practice and thought they would be better looked after.
That said, for me, the lack of practical support I received certainly contributed to my postpartum depression (both occasions). Now I know not to expect much practical help, but I wouldn't call that a good thing, or even an empowering thing.
Finally, many are surprised that a woman actually needs MORE support if it's not her first baby. Because now she has a newborn in addition to her other child/ren, who still have just as many demands of her as before. Ask how I know lol
Best of luck, and put a ring on it before you get babymaking ;)

I’ve had both c section and vaginal births and I always got right back to work the same day. So yes it is possible. I’m not tired after birth. I have a lot of energy and I have 24 hour long labors.
