TylerThank you for sharing this! I was recently given a lot of flack about my interviews from one viewer. The viewer said that no one knew the people I interviewed, this included the vendors from the gatherings as well from the folks that were portrayed in the hit shows like Alone and Forged in Fire etc. THIS IS THE REASON I INTERVIEW. You have footage from the masters of modern bushcraft. No future films will ever be released of this man. No more 'one on one' from him. Eventually we all must leave this earth and move on. One of the only things we can leave here is our knowledge. Thank you for capturing this knowledge and sharing it for all of us to watch.
Thank you so much for taking the time to interview, edit and post this. I am VERY appreciative of your time for this vid. Take care!

Please remember the negative comments of less than 1% do not equate to reality. I get negative comments, and if they are productive I listen. If they are just some idiot complaining I block and remove them. The opinions of the truly ignorant and complacent do not have place in yours or my life. I'm happy that I could be a part of the process in documenting people like this. They enrich many lives. I feel a little out of my comfort zone by doing these videos because it puts a lot of weight on me to get it right. He means so much to so many. But I also see that I'm the only one sticking my neck out and doing it in this way and with these people so I know that I'm doing something right. As usual thanks for your comments and interaction. You keep interviewing people that you value. If other's don't, that's on them, not you. Respectfully me.

For Mors, utility was everything. His best vids were where he dumped a bunch of stuff on the table and proceeded to go through and explain why almost all of it was crap. The best part was that he wasn’t pompous about it-he thought it was funny to see what people could be talked into buying.
We’re all lucky that his vids should be around a long time. RIP.

I wanna make myself one of these in CPM Magnacut. Excellent design and concept. I also love the EVER-so-slightly backswept handle and blade profile. I move my arm straight up down the grain when I featherstick, so that straight profile is perfect. I don’t even fully understand why so many knife makers insist on the forward-bent profile.

Oh my goodness, how did I miss this video?! First off, Godspeed Mors. You influenced SO many folks. Your legacy lives on. Rod! So good to actually see you! I'm the guy who ran that private forum. I was so happy when you joined. I was bummed that Dan snagged the Skookum for that article. I tried to get it but Steve Dick said Dan already asked for it. I've used your knives many many times over the years, including the smaller carvers. They have all held up well although I'm careful about prying with the first Skookum because I got one of the early ones that was pinned a bit back from the choil. Anyway, what a blast to actually see you in this video and listen to the story behind the Skookum. You and Mors blazed a trail there. Back in the day, we were BEGGING for full tang scandi knives like the Woodlore and now everyone makes them. The Skookum, though, took it to another level! Take care!

Hello from Oklahoma! I have written down all the criteria for a good "survival " knife as described by Mr. Kochanski. I wrote down the same from others, took my knife and guess what? To my amazement it met all the parameters. Its a commercially made knife that costs around $50. I had been using this knife for about 6-8 years before. I am satisfied. Like they say its not so much the tool as it is the skill and knowledge to use said tool. Thanks for your vast contribution to this craft Mr. Kochanski!

I've been wondering where you were. Very happy to see this post. I'm a pilot and I carry a knife, around my neck, to cut seatbelts, aluminum sheet metal, plexiglass, whatever. Mine is small (made by Walter Sorrels) and I've never had to test it for those reasons. As near as I can tell Rod isn't making knives anymore? Both emails that I tried bounced. Mors book, Bushcraft, is a Christmas gift for my oldest grandson. I bought it months ago. He will love it. My goal is to get him started young. When I was in the 8th grade (61 now) I checked out a book called Bushcraft by Richard Graves and it left a lasting impression (so much so that many years later I found a copy and I still have it). I tried some of his snare sets, my friends and I built a shelter in the woods behind our house. That's what I want my grandkids to experience (not the video game bullsh*t they are experiencing now).
I'm sorry to hear that Mors has passed. He will be missed but he has left a heck of legacy.

@@TJackSurvival That's good to know. I found a Aug 2019 post on BushcraftUSA that had a new email address post followed by a bounced email address post. Sharp Knife I am very happy that my work in the creation of these videos has had a positive affect. I almost didn’t make these series of videos because I didn’t see myself as worthy or up to the task. Eventually however I realized that without me doing this that no one else would. So I’m grateful that you value these videos. I believe that it is so important to record things like this so that these men’s legacies can live on. I’m only happy to be a small part of it. Thank you for watching. As I get personal time I fully intend to either release the full 1 hour and 45 minutes interview of Mors, or another edited version of the rest of the footage that I have. I also plan or wrapping up the footage I have from Larry D Olsen sometime this year. I struggle though because this project is unpaid and takes a lot of personal time. @@TJackSurvival no that’s not what I mean. There’s a third small stick infront of the the part where the front foot sits. It’s also seen on some pictures and in Ray Mears‘ book. No where it’s elaborated what meaning that part has

Does anybody sell a Skookum or a Rob Evans Tribute knife, preferably in Ballbearing or 3V steel please?? I live in Europe, so if anybody has one for sale, I'll be glad if he would make a half disabled veteran happy! Thanks in advance

Hummmmm that wooden canoe chair, and the frying pan with the handle over the pan stashed in the tent, makes me wonder.

Why's that? That's just a camp someone set up for Mors while he was there.

@@TJackSurvival Hi Tyler, It a connection across the country. This past fall I made it out on a short four day poling trip with Tim Smith and Jack Mountain Bushcraft. Tim was a student of Mors. On the trip they talked about a river trip they recently did on the Boneventure river in Quebec, its a sweet river, I hope to run it some day. Anyway, Kelly Harlton went on the trip with them. The curious part is who introduced who to what. On my St Croix trip there was a couple of those wooden canoe chairs, I need to make on for myself, and that fantistic frying pan. they are of limited editions. You can check out the chairs and frying pan through out this video, they both show up in the first few minutes. Also Tim brought along one of his Winter trecker tents and wood stove, same tent as in your video. Hey, if your ever out east, it would be fun to do some paddling.

We lost a great one with Mors (RIP) but the legacy never dies. Now Rod Garcia mentioned this student from Holland and I think he means The Netherlands with that and not that little town in the US called Holland. It makes sense since we are used to these style of knives, the Finnish puukko style as also used by Mora in Sweden, Martiini, Helle, etc. My first Mora is over 45 years old. Of course Mors used Mora for a long time and some others that came later but where the puukko style knife was and is almost the norm here it was not well known in the US. Truth be told I will never spend a lot of money on a 'woodlore' model but I still want A Skookum before I die. I will contact Rod Garcia. But again a nice interview Jack.

Agreed and thanks. I’d order one soon because it takes a while to get one. However he has upped production so you may get one sooner than later

So you're not happy with your "8 Woodlores, 4 Jacklores, 4 Rob Evans, An LT Wright, A Battlehorse, An Adventure Sworn Custom, A TRC, A Chris Reeves, A Spartan plus others"? But the Skookum is somehow going to fill the void in your unused knife collection? You're a collector I presume? Seems like you're bitter because you can't get a Skookum to add to your unused knife collection. You seem like a spoiled rotten little baby who can't get what he wants. Even if you had one you wouldn't use it anyway. But hey stupid, you can order one of Rod's knives with no down payment and wait like everyone else. Grow up
