The II V I guitar chords is the most common chord progression in jazz. In this Voice leading guitar lesson I'm going to be showing you, how to perfectly lead from one chord to the next. You'll learn to comp the melody and the solo. There is a difference there - the V7 chord, which is usually altered during the solo.
I'll show you 4 examples of II V I voice leading guitar for the E-string and four exaples starting from the A-string. By the end of this lesson you'll have the entire fretboard covered and will be able to understand the voice leading rules for guitar.
You'll learn a lot of new II V I voicings guitar and will be able to construct your own II V I chord progression on guitar.
Voice leading jazz guitar is important to sound authentic. You don't want to jump around on the fretboard, just because you don't know any better. Good voice leading is more pleasing to the ear and thus you will sound more sophisticated and people will love listening to your guitar plaing.
I'll teach you the theory behind it and show you 8 examples of good guitar voice leading exercises with ii v i guitar voicings.
This tutorial is absolutely beginner friendly and everyone should be able to manage through thoseguitar voice leading exercises. The 8 example go from beginner to intermediate/advanced.
I hope you like my Voice leading guitar lesson II V I guitar chords and give this guitar lesson a fat thumbs up. Please share the love and the knowledge and subscribe my channel.

So nice... another top quality lesson. I want to share my thoughts with the gang, and all who may visit Sandra's UA-cam channel. I have decided to take on the challenge of studying jazz guitar, and after much research on the net I have chosen to follow Sandra exclusively. She wonderful, teaches exceedingly well and her prices for her material are very reasonable to say the least. I have deleted all of the other people I was following to eliminate all the distraction. I have come to realize that Sandra is all you need, and to just stay focused and enjoy the long journey. With that being said I will be buying all necessary material from her, and also donate when ever I can so we can continue have her on our quest to becoming a better player. If we all give a little it goes a long way. To all I say "Stay healthy, keep your head up, your guitar in your lap, and never abandon the journey.

Hi Sandra! Gahreetings! Thanks for the 2-5-1 tips! I love how we can voice lead up or down, or both. Just one note can give us great options! Do you ever think of tritone subs in this context (ie, the B half dim vs rootless A9). Great food for thought (during my lunch😉). Baba.

Guitarversum Sandra Sherman sorry, I was chewing BBQ 😄. No, when you referenced the rootless G being the same as Bhalf dim, it just made me think of the old (for ex) tritone sub replacing the 5 chord with a half step drop as 7th, from the 2. I should just keep quiet😉. Great lesson👍

In jazz the 5th is often omitted. It doesn't add any great vibes (literally) and since we only have five fingers, we need them to play more interesting tones, like tensions (9,11,13)
