No but not going to church is a pretty good indication you aren't, since we are commanded to gather together.

So sad that Shawn has been pushed away by the church, when the church should be the ones embracing him, and helping him grow stronger in his faith 💔

Lmao!!!
The “church” as we created it here in USA. Is a business that attracts leaches who guilt u into giving them money 💰to feel like u belong to heaven!!!!
JUST READ THE BOOKS 📚
I think people in this comment section misunderstood what he said. He didn't say he felt judged. He just said that people couldn't realize that, when he's on TV he's playing a character. People were having trouble seeing through the kayfabe and separating that from who he really is. So it's easier for him not to go to a church and not have to have these conversations over and over.
Well said
Exactly.
Exactly. Even the title of the video misrepresents what he said. He never said he refused to go to church but that it got to a point where the misunderstanding became an obstacle. Honestly I think he should find a church that he is comfortable with since Hebrews 10 makes it clear that Christians should be gathering as a community but he is in a particular unique situation.
@@MackLeeGreen Exactly, the Bible says not to forsake the fellowship of the brethren so he should just find a church that accepts his career and not be disillusioned by church in general.
That’s still judging.
That's the same reason why I stopped going to church because it's a social gathering and believe it or not, the worst type of gossips goes on in the church. If you are going through real life issues and you need some type of escape most churches fail to grant a person that escape. I realized too soon, that I was experiencing the same gossips, people making fun of you and so on. I decided to stop going to church and have a personal relationship with God which i think is best for anyone going through real life struggle and issues. it's the best for one's mental health.
I think this applies to most places of worship unfortunately. They become cesspools of negativity. No different than any other place.
As a WWE fan and a guy of faith upbringing, this makes so much sense when he talks about having his own relationship instead of just a building.
These comments are selfish and short sighted. Read your Bible, specifically where it says not to ignore the gathering of the saints.
The world is full of imperfect people and so is the church. Show the grace that has been extended to you.
@@lanceharlow8621 That's easy for you to say. I pray you don't have a condition that makes you appear slightly different from your peers and you go to the church a place that's suppose to be an abode of refuge and hope and you see the same people that read the scriptures and sing worship and praise every Sunday making fun of you and laughing in your presence .You will see things for what they really are. My relationship with God is not severed as I pray to him daily, but i refuse to go to the church to experience such hypocrisy and lack of empathy.
@@garthybrookens4839 the church is not the building. It is written when 2 or more people gather in the name of the Lord, there the church will be. It is also written that many people will call out Jesus’s name and he will flat out tell them that he does not know them, because they’re hearts were never in the right place to begin with. He bible calls out hypocrites all the time, but it’s not too late for anyone to start a true relationship with Jesus. I still go to church because I enjoy the community and being there for the kids, because that’s where my heart is. I see and hear of two-faced people all the time at the church I go to, but I don’t let it get to me. Everyone has a different struggle in their life.

Honestly I feel what Shawn is saying... having faith in Christianity is cool, it's just "The Church" that pisses me off because the church is always so judgemental about every little aspect of your personal life (as if they're God himself) ... meanwhile as they judge you they have a whole bunch of skeletons hidden in their own closet
You don't want to be held accountable for your sins that's why you hate the body of Christ but you will give an account to God himself one day .
@@mckdink that's not a very Christlike attitude. You don't sound like a Christian because you may not even be one.

The problem with a lot of church folks is that they want to put condemnation on the people instead of throwing them lifelines. If you're a born again Christian you are the church because you're a part of the body
The problem with a lot of people is that they think they can do what they want to do and the church have no right in correcting them .. once rebuke comes persons get offended.. we are to hold each other accountable (I’m not disagreeing with what you said , I do agree as well)

George chill bro
Agree. I feel annoyed at his constant hard selling christianity at EVERY impaulsive. This have become like a seminary
My worst experiences came from churches. I've never been treated or judged worse. From 16-18 I used to go w/ my friend & his family who were good to me so I tried to be open to the experience but other people dogged me out. All the love patience & understanding I have for others comes from not wanting to be anything like them
I'm sorry that you had this experience with this church, unfortunately not all Christians act like Christ followers. Thankfully I haven't had this problem in my church but I understand not every one shares my experience. I'm not sure if you're particularly religious but I hope the actions of these people don't deter you from Christianity. The biblical authors weren't ignorant of the fact that many Christians would fail in these ways. This is why the apostle Paul wrote "but if, in our endeavor to be justified in Christ, we too were found to be sinners, is Christ then a servant of sin? Certainly not!"
Galatians 2:17 ESV
I'm a son of a preacher and have seen alot of people that goto church thinking that u can only a relationship with god is at church. I haven't been to a church in 30 years and still have a relationship with the man upstairs
If so then why would you constantly betray that relationship by failing to obey his commandment to gather with other believers? You also dissobey the commandment to love other believers. Repent, being a preachers son won't help you one bit on the day of judgement.
@@djd770 church is a building u can gather with others anywhere
why are the hosts always way too annoying in all of these shows
The HBK childhood legend!
I think people are misunderstanding his point. He isn't saying he feels the church is very judgmental (I personally think that there is reasons to think it is but different conversation). He is saying that they have a hard time separating his tv persona from his actual life.
jeff jarrett says the same thing.
“Repent, for the kingdom of Heaven is at hand” Matthew 3:2
2:15 the only reason one should worry for Shawn to backslide is because Shawn can, not saying he ever would ,little by little leave the faith if he doesn’t congregate,(which here he said he doesn’t go anymore)and have temptations to do more of what he did before. Maybe Shawn shouldn’t laugh at ones who worry for him because as a Christian, Shawn is still a work in progress and needs prayer like everyone, everyday. 1cor. 10:12
"For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them."
Mathew 18:20.
It is not necessary to go to church to commune with god. A few close friends would suffice to help keep him on the right path. The DX reunion was many, many years ago. So he's managed to stay strong for many years since he stopped attending church in person.
Also, we can not judge him (nor should we) based on a Two minute snippet. We do not have the full context of why he doesn't go to church. Pray for him and leave the assumptions and judgements out of it my brothers.
While getting together with other believers can be good, it's not at all good to gather with Pharisees. Which is what many modern Christians are.
As a Christian myself, I support his decision. Your assertions about him potentially destroying himself by not going is ridiculous.
I can totally relate to what Sean saying. I'm 32 and my whole generation is similar to this. We grew up in the church but we feel so judged that what's the point of going to the building anymore. It's about your own relationship with it. And I'm personally not down to go to a building and listen to a person say people with certain lifestyles are going to hell for whatever reason. That's not what I believe. So I'll probably won't step foot in church again
That's sort of how myself and my family feel, maybe it was the pastor, but seemed like every week was the same lecture about how we're all going to hell and etc. It made you feel depressed.
There are churches out there who do not condemn! You just have to find one and they are hard to come by in this age of deception and false idolatry
I will say this the only reason they yell about certain lifestyles are going to hell is because the Bible literally says those lifestyles won’t go to heaven. 1st Corinthians 6:9-10 I believe is one of the verses. And it’s straight forward and IF you believe in god this verse always gets cherry picked out because it’s the truth no one wants to hear because they realize oh no im not going to heaven because im living a sinful life
@@yellowkangdexasthur4904 for sure but still the building isn't important
Go to a mosque.
You may not have to go to a church but it is highly encouraged to get together with other believers and study the word. Remember church isn't a building its the people. You may just need to find or start a small group. You can only do so much growing on your own and the more you grow the better relationship you will have with Jesus
This would be great if y’all would actually let him talk without cracking jokes every other sentence
Let the man talk come on lol
Probably over excited cause they're fanboying lol.
They do that a lot
I was thinking the same thing but at the same time I love interviews like this because it isn't question, answer, question, answer. It's just a conversation and it feels more honest. So while It can be bothersome, I feel like you still get better content.
Although what he is saying is completely fair, a lot of that rests on the people of his church. Glad he has a relationship with the Lord!

Last I knew Shawn was so involved in his local church in the mid-2000s that he would never work Smackdown/ be drafted to Smackdown due to his volunteer commitments. I guess that changed once he started using the DX gimmick again in 2006 and 2009 from what he’s saying here.
I think what they look at, is that Shawn as a "Christian", is supposed to set a good example. A saved man doesn't do anything that he used to do as his former self. People will get the negative perception that he's still out there doing things, that he's not supposed to be doing. Even though it's just for TV, he's still portraying a man of sinful nature. I'm not a Christian, but I do Honor the Father, the Son, and the Holy spirit. I just choose not to follow religion.
You make a relevant and fair point. And I agree with the principle you’re presenting. But I do want to say that Shawn is portraying a “character”. It’s not really him. WWE characters tend to be exaggerated. Perhaps it is his church’s job to seek understanding about him as an individual and empathize with what he does to make a living. That way they can separate reality from a TV show. Bible calls people in communion to love one another, and part of that means seek understanding with one another. It seems Shawn is implying that his churchfolk sought to speak into his without actually BEING in his life. They may have good intentions, but it definitely comes off judgmental if they speak more than listen to him.
Jay willingham. I 💯 perfect agree with you. Christianity is not a religion but it's the thing that lies in the heart of every believer. But we people are turning Christianity into a religion where these self proclaimed Christians have put in their own beliefs depicting Christianity as not of God. The same applies to Muslims. A true Christian is the one who believes in Christ and does according to his will.
But you have to consider that Shawn has no other way to support his family, wwe is all he knows, he can’t just leave it like that
@neira9494 well that's where his faith chimes into play. As a true believer, you're supposed to deny yourself and take up your cross. I'm not judging him. Just making an observation.
@@04jaywilli1975 maybe he has but like I said , wrestling is all he knows, the church is not going to pay his bills. As long as he’s not involved into any satanic storyline or whatever he’s good. I know you’re not judging him, you make a good point but we also have to analyze the realistic side of things.
Shawn talked about this in his first book, and I’m honestly surprised they still give him these problems…. It really sucks people can’t get a grip
I can relate to Shawn a lot as far as church goes. I live in Washington state and everyone that goes to church seems like they go just to be able to say they go. They don't act like they care about their relationship with God at all. I found one church that I liked until it got too overbearing but you could see these people care. It is a predominantly black church with a 9/1 ratio and man it feels like there's soul in the small church. Maybe it's just because it's more like a southern gospel church but that's the best I've seen here. I had to create distance though cause they'd call you everyday asking about going to church, some people just can't go every day.

Here's what I do NOT understand

The pastor John Haggee has known Shawn since he stepped foot in that church 20 years ago. HE KNOWS ALL THE STUFF SHAWN DID IN THE WWE!!
John JUST NOW decides to bring up all the stuff on tv that Shawn did and tell him he doesnt like that
You've known Shawn for 20 years, you should know better than to say that
Love you guys but let them talk please
There good churches and bad churches everywhere glad he rooted in the word and building himself instead of being discouraged and walk away from the faith as so many others do.
This dude and DX was my child hood growing up brings back memories
I am sorry to hear it. The devil likes to separate believers. Try to make you think you can hold on to your faith without help. In these times where temptation is everywhere, help is always needed.
I perferred going to the smaller churches because the people there really know each other and are very welcoming individuals 😊
I can kinda relate to Shawn in a way, it's just like ¿Why go there, if they're just going to judge you for your current way of living life? It's kinda sad that Christianity itself, a religion that supposedly "accepts" people for who they are, judges people for anything and everything in their lives.
That is some very irresponsible broadbrushing there. The religion does not judge people. A few people with in the religion do. They are not a part of the majority. The ovberwhelming majority of people with in the religion do not judge. Do not assume everyone does because a few do.
@@chriskay1449 but the ideals within the religion are the ones that push individuals to those attitudes. It happens with all religions and Christianity is not the exception. The more extremist a person becomes attached to those ideals the more judgemental and extremist their views of the world become and the less accepting and tolerant they become with other people. The ideals themselves do play a part and religion does judge people, and there are many examples. The bible has scripts on how you should live your life and moral decisions that you are obligated to take. If you live your life x or y, without necessarily harming others, then you are demeed a heretic, a blasphemer, an adulterer or a pervert that will rot in hell.
@@alexmarenco2399 People do it on their own, Don't blame religion for the the choices of individuals, especially when the great majority don't do it. It is a cop out and used an excuse to use anti-religion rhetoric.
@@chriskay1449 then explain to me how is it that there are entire countries that supress womens rights in the middle east? Or how in India there is a Caste system torwards poor people since they believe that they were evil in their past lives? There are plenty of more examples, and these are behaviours that are influenced from religious beliefs. Have you noticed that societies that are removed from those religious contexts do not behave like the societies that I mentioned? Religious doctrine can be held accountable for this as they are beliefs that are socially imposed on many societies. Simply calling it as people doing it on their own is quite simplistic. Many external factors can condition and influence the behaviour of people and religions give people clear reasons to act certain ways, and by extension be judgemental torwards certain behaviours and alternative ways of life.
Well if you think you are better than others and judge ppl , instead of trying to be humble, thats not how it works. We all have flaws, and unfortunately some don't see it that way.

He seemed uncomfortable talking about his faith too. Not passing judgment just making an observation.
i know how Shawn feels. i dont go anymore either because the modern day church today cares more about entertainment and making people feel good, and enabling people in their sins. no one is preaching repentance, or obedient faith to the Lord, or abstinence of sin, as Paul commands us in 1 Corinthians 15:34

I go to church because I love the Lord, it's a corporate fellowship which is one of the reason I spiritually grow and still surviving.
A spiritual person is not an emotional person. You need not be bothered if the world misunderstands you, until the Lord says "Well done thy faithful servant".
It took me until the end of the video to release this was in a ring at the set of NXT 💀
This is why I have a hard time going to church as well. At some point they have to realize what they are doing is actually counterproductive when they do this passive aggressive judgment.
They way I see it church is in the heart, that’s where I choose to keep god, I don’t doubt the benefits of gathering with like minded individuals, but it’s important to be alone with your god
As an atheist, to a degree I agree with the church on questioning him in his hypocrisy. They’re not being judgmental about it. This where Gregory helms called him out on his hypocrisy. You can’t serve two masters.
As an atheist, you can't possibly understand scripture properly. The scripture speaking of not serving two masters was about mammon, which is money. You cannot serve God and money.
Furthermore, he's not a hypocrite just because he plays a character who uses curse words. That's not what a hypocrite means, and that's certainly not what scripture is speaking of in regards to hypocrites. And speaking as a Christian myself, MANY Christians are judgmental. Implying he's backsliding just because he uses some expletives is absolutely judgmental. We have salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. That is what makes one saved, believing in the Son and His sacrifice. Not whether or not you're living by some guidelines.
You have no idea what you're talking about.
Ey man, they ask because they care or at least we hope that they do. Anywhere with so many different personalities will always have something going on. Jesus said to him, “No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.” Luke 9:62
I'm going to give Shawn the benefit of doubt but it is sad that he stopped going to church. A church is suppose to be a family that holds you accountable to your faith. It's okay to look around. I’m thankful to be a part of a church that nurtures me and walks with me. No they aren’t perfect. But imperfect people need to be in church, or else how do they get better? The problem is when we first see the church through the lens of a fresh breakthrough, everything looks perfect. Then you realize as time goes on your brothers and sisters battle the same thing you battle. Gossip is wrong. Shaming is wrong. But we shouldn’t allow the misrepresentation from others to cause us to abstain from the body. “Forsake not the assembling of ourselves together.”
The church isnt a country club, it is a hospital for the sick. We are all broken and sinful people, thankfully through God's grace we are saved.

“But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the YAHUAH the Elohim , to observe to do all His commandments and His statutes which I command thee this day, that all these curses shall come upon thee and overtake thee exodus 20:10 including the Shabbat the sabbath day to rest in your dwellings with no work, buying, cooking, cleaning,or traveling
@@tigerman8407 I work on the sabbath . You said it yourself , if Christ’s sacrifice wasn’t enough to save all those who believe on him then you are cursed to have to do the whole law , Everytime you have a wicked thought …. You are guilty of them all . Guilty of hanging up our Messiah . Hallelujah Praise God. Salvation comes to all those who put their faith in the finished redemptive work of Jesus. All those who think they have to do good works to earn your way to Heaven are blinded
church is just a building as long as you carry the biblical values and seek christ you will live a healthy spiritual life
Iron sharpens Iron. We are to gather in fellowship with fellow believers to maintain accountability amongst each other
I can understand the push back. Its not everybody but there defo always sombody in every church.
I was in and out of church for two years and when I finally found a church home I was worried how I would be accepted
"And If You're not DOWN WIT THAT!?!?!"
It’s always about what the humans at the church did but not what God did. Man will always fail you but God will never forsake you.

“I do t have time for contributing to community of any kind or living by Christ’s teachings. I just want the cover provided from being a Christian.” Haha Shawn is the same as he ever was.
Right he still clearly does a bunch of drugs and is a dick to everybody just like 97. Oh wait? Wrong
He has the time and the will to contribute, but if the people in that community are judgemental and pestering him about his character he portrays and question his faith every time he gets on TV and performs, it gets old. You have to separate yourself from the people that are toxic to your faith. How many former Christian musicians and actors have you seen turn away from faith completely over the ridicule they face from their peers? If I were Shawn, I would do the same thing. Stay away from the negativity and keep your mind and heart focused on the Lord.
Does George have to try and be funny all the time
Exactly. He’s trying way too hard sometimes it’s cringe
Twenty-five years ago, I used to have an atheist coworker in FL who was quitting. I asked why. He said he was going to start his own ministry. "I thought you were an atheist." "I am, but I can make more money working as a church leader."
A year or so later, I crossed paths with that guy again. He said he was working ten hours a week, and making $40k per year. "I just tell people what they want to hear, and they give me money for it."
Starting a religious following or cult seems so easy to do now with the help of the Internet. There’s a lot of people out there who are searching for meaning in their life.
@@josueramirez7247 When the Internet really got going a couple decades ago, I was optimistic about the human race getting smarter, educating themselves, and connecting with people with differing opinions. Boy, was I wrong!
@@gregorykrug8034 you can say that again. Lately, I have been interested in learning about sociogenic illness. You ever heard of cases where a TikTok or UA-cam star has a tic that passes on to their fans?
@@josueramirez7247 I have not heard that! Very interesting!
George should listen more and we would enjoy it more when you pause conversation you cut the flow
You guys need to check out Cleveland Street Preachers he is a true christian.
I live in illinois and work at downtown Chicago resturant and put the food we serve on strings and hide the hidden food under my clothes so as to walk around and sweat on it (season it) all day before taking it out and heating and serving it. Sometimes I have about 60 different articles of food underneath my clothing at any given time. No one knows I do this and luckily you don't know what resturant I work at HEHE ....
Ok thanks for giving me the state and city that you live, time to research where your address is now
Cool
Jackass did it better and it tasted sweeter
I think it’s more idealism being cast upon whoever goes. The Bible even if it’s speaking to us is not the same crowd we were a few thousand years ago. When people read something they are meant to take their own interpretation of it and build a relationship with God. You yourself are a church; however if religion starts to form to ideology and social acceptance it also loses its meaning in text. Even if it’s not the relationship of God. Shawn knows God is with him and that’s the most beautiful thing of all. I hope he finds a crowd that will continue that relationship. Most people think fighting is bad but it comes with sportsmanship, breaks language barriers, and holds a respect that captures the attention of the world. Could be used as a great platform. Most people don’t want to mix religion and their beliefs to things they don’t understand. Shawn knows who he is and that’s what’s important.
I can understand that. You can find the most judgmental hateful people in a church. In a way its just like the outside world. The only difference is that the people going their hide behind their faith to justify their actions. You have to be just as cautious building relationships and fellowship in the church as you are anywhere else.
Also to add, a lot of people who go to church and judge are doing things that even the secular world would not even approve of. Just saying.
There are a lot of good churches tho speaking from experience. I’ve been to some churches where I’ve felt judged or felt uncomfortable but there’s been a couple that genuinely had people trying to help you out and be there for you
@@DrobGolfs yeah a lot of people use Christians caring for them and wondering why they are doing things that Christ condemns as a means to leave the church to live in their flesh. Also what’s sad is let’s say someone calls you out for something but they do it in a non loving way…poeple will fail but if you leave Christianity you’re leaving Jesus Christ. You need to separate Christ because that’s who you’re rejecting if you leave Christianity all together. Every single walk of life…people will make mistakes and will let you down. That’s why we need Jesus! And going through that process with other believers is essential as we’re not supposed to forsake fellowship…but gather together all the more!
Their are still some good churches out there just few and far between now.
There is no hate like Christian love.
?
When he brought up judas I thought he was talking about Jericho
I like how when he came back in 2002 says" God saved my life ,now Triple h has saved my life ."Who ever puts him back in the spot light!!
Nah he always felt that way also tho like he was saying he can’t relate to his younger self and you know Shawn was a huge egomaniac who didn’t acknowledge others period and he had just found his genuine faith he might’ve not even been thinking of anything else but the life line of believing in his god Plus Shawn Michaels only got out the spotlight because he chose too he was one of those forever superstars even if you didn’t know of him it felt like u did whenever you’d see him or hear his name Additionally maybe him being a believer was his new spotlight hahaha. years ago tho I’d probably have agreed with your statement to a certain extent
That’s crazy i remember when he turned his life around and he really didn’t do stuff he did like in the 80s to the early 2000s it’s crazy people still judge you
It doesn’t matter whether your in church or at your house god can meet you wherever you are. Church is no longer about finding god but rather how many people you can pack in a church. I’ve been blacklisted from churches because I don’t think their way. Church is just a building, but establishing a relationship with Jesus well that can take a good while as I know with myself.
Do not forsake the gathering of the brothers.
Didn't Shane helms say that even though he's doing the whole born again thing, Shawn is still a POS. Maybe that's why he doesn't go to church
Can you interview madchild
Shawn Michaels legitimately went from Axl Rose in 1997, to Donny Osmond in 2002…He really never did go back to his toxic rock-star ways, despite whatever character he’s scripted to play on television.
I'm betting George walked off after this.
Sounds like the guy that blames rehab for why he's not clean yet.
It’s not clean cut, but yes I get the point
