How can its supporters be at all surprised or complain if Scotland is less psychologically integrated and more institutionally alienated within Britain than ever?
And where is this "Britain" except in the mind of Sikhs, Pakistanis, West Indians etc. of the old empire? And where are the "English" to whom I keep referring? Do they still exist?
