Duke wouldn’t go to the Big 12 they don’t wanna get beat by Kansas and Houston every year

I don't think Duke would make essentially a lateral move from the ACC to a conference with significantly worse academics. It would hurt Duke's brand.

Oh, come on. I suppose if there are no other options for them. Choice one is to make their case for the SEC so it will have two highly ranked private universities with large endowments. But Duke would have to commit to the sort of $300m stadium commitment Vandy dove into just a few years ago, plus selling a majority of SEC teams on splitting revenue just to have another top 20 academic school might be difficult. If UNC ended up in the SEC and UVa in the B10, Duke would try to attach itself to one of those additions. Ofc if both UNC and UVA ended up in the SEC (or B10) Duke would be out of luck. But do not underestimate the desire of UNC and Duke (not as sure about UVa?) to remain linked to the South. Especially these days

I think Duke would be a great fit for the Big 12 due to Big 12 - Mexico in expanding our international footprint. As a religion-sponsored (Catholic Church) school, Duke could play a very important part in reaching Catholic audiences in Mexico like BYU (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints) and Baylor (The Southern Baptist Convention) are set to improve fan audiences with members of their religious affiliations. Texas Christian University could provide religious value by representing other Christian denominations. With a school like Duke joining the Big 12, the value of the league increases for all of the member schools in the Big 12.

DUKE's historical association is with the Methodist Church.
I see no feasible chain of events that ends with DUKE in the BIG12.

BIG12 fans seem proud that there is no mutual interest with CAL/STANFORD, but they want DUKE?

Boosts the basketball brand. Calford brings nothing sports-wise except maybe Olympics.

@@budtromCal is one thing given its current athletic department budget woes. But Stanford has a rich history in football in spite of its academic standards and was quite successful during the 2010s. It's market and brand alone make it valuable and it's alumni both from a donor and former player perspective give it potential to be successful in the NIL era.

@@reverend_wintondupree Stanford used to be successful, yeah, not useful.

@@budtrom So have many schools being considered in realignment talks. The fact remains Stanford offers thinge others can't which makes them valuable especially amongst many perceived candidates from the XII and ACC despite their recent on-field performance.

@@reverend_wintondupree all you have to do to realize I'm right is look at the last round of realignment and the demise of the PAC 12. 12 schools, Stanford and Cal were the last to get a call. They jumped from one sinking ship to another, at a reduced share. Nobody wanted them, they're going to be searching for a reluctant home again soon, but somehow they're as valuable as Duke?

NCState is a better fit than Duke.

Could Duke just say F it to playing Football anymore and just go to the Big East? Or even drop a level, or let their football play in like a MAC while the Basketball plays in the Big East?

I think once ND gets cornered into the big ten - they get Duke and Stanford in. Maybe cal.

Who are you kidding? None of these schools fill their football stadiums.
I don't believe the B10 or the SEC want any North Carolina schools and I hope the B12 doesn't either.
Come back some day in the next decade after one of the NC schools has true fan support for their football team and has a consistent winning record.

Duke, NCSt, Wake, Syracuse , Pittsburg , Boston College , GTech, VTech, Va. and Miami……all fit nicely with the 16 B12 teams …adding 10 teams …..while ND, Clemson, UNC, and FSU….do not….but Clemson is not a real need for the SEC/B10…so it is iffy. While SMU fits in ..despite the history! Cal and Stanford….could fit in with the OSU/WSU adds…making for 16 more teams combining with the current 16 B12 teams…making 32 teams…vs the 40 or so teams (tbd) landing with the SEC/B10 juggernaut! Add 4 more teams to shore up the Conferences and you got 36 Teams with 3 Conferences in one! 12 team conferences …the WEST ( Pacific)… the Central ( Big12 ) …and the EAST ( Atlantic) …each with their own rivalries….more cost effective …with more autonomy that a totally centralized union……but with payouts and contracts in line with each other! This puts the pie back together and more coherent and cost effective for all ! 24/7 spread across the old USA…in many prominent Cities and Markets….all designed to renegotiate a new contract with ESPN or its competition. Four time zones and great Basketball !!
You can play musical chairs with many of the teams…..but it all makes too much sense!! The Power 3 is what it should be!! Time for the B12 , the PAC2, and the 10 or so remaining ACC teams to join together to fight the Devil (ESPN) !

This guy was boring AF, and it certainly seemed like he was mocking the Big 12 at the end, particularly the prospect of his rival bring forced to join such a lowly conference. I seem to remember another conference that took a similar attitude towards the Big 12. What happened to that conference, I forgot...

Poor analysis... The PAC would have survived if not delusional and accepted the reasonable Teir 2 deals that were offered. The ACC isn't delusional and is being proactive.
