As a native speaker I can tell you, the lyrics are incredible. Such good play on words and there are always different layers of meaning here. For example, the last Track NEBEL means fog, but the lyrics are about a loved person passing away and NEBEL backwarts is LEBEN, which means life. Also, the lead singer is an author of various poetry books. Though, the lyrics are often very controversial. Maybe, for the next reaction, you can consider reading the translated lyrics :)
@@mollyesanborn Sonne is perhaps their best song - be sure to check out their music video for that one. They are a very theatrical band, as I am sure you can tell and they make some of the best music videos in metal.
Definetly my favorite album of theirs. Love the mix of heavyness, epicness and the beautifully written lyrics. Fun fact: "Links 2 3 4" is their response to all the accusations like "Rammstein is a Nazi-Band" n stuff. The pre-chorus basically translates to "They want my heart on the right side but when I check I feel it beating on the left", pretty self-explanatory. xD Great video, keep it up!
My favorite Rammstein record, though it's a tough race between this one and "Reise, Reise" which is also a fun listen. Great "flow" to the record, and the compositional quality really went up straight off the jump with the opening track onward. Great, great record.
You're so right about the flow of this one. Really seamless transitions from track to track despite the tonal changes they implement across the whole thing. Can't wait to hear Reise, Reise!
Mutter was the first album I had as a child and it was what made me the music lover I am today (my mom gave it to me for Christmas so it was especially symbolic). I can tell you from personal experience that listening to ANY Rammstein album grows when you understand Till's lyrics, which flawlessly infuse the songs with dark poetry and a twisted sense of humor. It would be VERY interesting if you get to know the band following an alternative route and react to their excellent latest album "ZEIT" before the rest of the classics. By the way, I love your content, and your spontaneity. Saludos desde Chile!
That's so awesome that you were introduced to this record from a young age, such a great album to have as an early musical influence. I really would love to get more into the lyrics, I'll definitely have to do some googling for the English translations of these tracks. And happy to hear you're enjoying the channel. Thanks for watching :)
So glad you have got into Rammstein. They are one of the best. I love them, even though I don't know much German. They actually motivated me to learn the language.
@@mollyesanborn I can help you with that if you'd like :) I studied German in secondary school and have successfully taught a few friends basic German for the purpose of understanding Rammstein lol
@@mollyesanborn German, you need 30 years to speak it halfway fluent. tells Mark Twain in "The Awful German Language". www.reclam.de/data/media/978-3-15-019493-5.pdf
First time when I listened to this album my mind was blown away. Literally every song on this one is awesome! But my favourite album from them is Rosenrot.
Yes, so many high points across this album. It's so dynamic with its sound too, some tracks bring the hard aggression and others the soaring melodies. Can't wait to hear what Rosenrot is going to deliver!
"Sonne" is a banger. I could listen to that track on repeat for days. Also, the video adds a whole new layer to it. Check it out if you get the chance.
I don't think I have ever seen someone get introduced to and react to Rammstein in this way, but I love it! This is a quite a good album to start with, but you are sadly missing greatly out on not knowing the lyrics. Rammstein's singer and writer Till Lindemann is a great poet, and the songs often contain a story or a deep meaning, and often not hiding away from controversial topics... I really hope you continue the Rammstein journey, be it with more albums, music videos or live shows ( Rammstein are VERY known for their live shows lol). They do have their own keyboardist/synthesizer who adds all those effects, like the angelic voice in Sonne. These are the song topics in this album 1. Mein Herz Brennt: Children nightmares and "Der Sandmann". 2. Links 2 3 4: A song they wrote stating how their heart beats left, as a response to everyone calling them nazis. 3. Sonne: Written as a boxing entrance to an ukrainian boxer back in 2001 called Vitali Klitschko ( Now mayor of Kyiv, Ukraine) 4. Ich Will: Not a deep song, considered as simply a crowd interaction song, but deeper can be about wanting to be heard and seen, or misunderstood. 5. Feuer Frei: Not a deep song at all, just "Fire at will" about releasing anger 6. Mutter: About a person who never had a mother, as he was born in an incubator as an experiment. Also about the singer and guitarists struggle with their mothers in real life. 7. Spieluhr: About a child who wanted to be alone, so she faked her death, and got buried alive. 8. Zwitter: About a hermaphrodite, that tackles narcissism and bisexuality. 9. Rein Raus: well uh its about s*x. The title is simply "In Out"... The singer Till Lindemann really loves S*x... 10. Zwitter: A person dying of an overdose 11. Nebel: A song about a couple sharing their final moments together, with a walk on the beach and a final kiss, before the woman dies.
Thank you for this! I will definitely be doing some digging into the English translations of these tracks now, sounds like I have a lot to look forward to.
Nice summary, two questions though: *7. Spieluhr - how do you know it's she? I think you can't. *8. Zwitter - I don't see any bisexuality topics mentioned in this track
@@jakubbriza7274 * spieluhr -> its not said in the lyrics but I heared in an interview that they thought of a boy writing this song (i think they even named him but I cant remember the name) * zwitter - it is definitely about bisexuality
It’s fascinating to watch someone who looks so young use such eloquent descriptors for so many of my adolescent favorites. Many older folks have bigger and better sets, but fall way short of actually dissecting the music. Kudos to Molly for not lacking in that regard.
Wow, thank you! As someone without any musical training or technical knowledge I sometimes wonder if people get anything out of these videos, sometimes it feels like I'm not adding anything new. So it makes me happy to know that people are enjoying them ❤️
@@mollyesanbornMy pleasure, keep it up! I watched nearly everything as soon as I came across your channel. Korn, Slipknot, Deftones, and now Rammstein were all some of my favorites in high school. That was 2001-2005. Now that I’m older, I still listen to these bands… Although I typically go a bit heavier (Pantera, Cannibal Corpse, etc.) But I also find myself enjoying the chill stuff more than ever (Portishead, Massive Attack, and Morcheeba). That’s the problem with watching reactors. You want them to like everything you do…
@molly this is my first time watching your videos, but I can definitely say that your reactions come off as a lot more genuine than some of the other channels that have music training. Where they are reacting to the sound and analyzing it musically (can't think of a better term), you come off as reacting based on how it affects you and your feelings. It's so pleasant to see someone react to them by feeling and analyzing the feel with no training, it comes off as a lot more genuine and relatable.
Thank you, I really appreciate the kind words! It really is all about how music makes me feel, I find that music can often conjure emotions within me that I didn't even know were there. I'm glad that translates into the videos :)
really enjoyed this reaction/review Molly...for many, their hugely popular song Du Hast would've been the introduction to Ramstein, but Mutter was the album that put them on the map, it's all killer no filler...also you shouldn't concern yourself so much over the pronunciation of the song titles, yes, you butchered them, but not in a bad way, it's like hearing a non English speaker trying to pronounce English language, it's a little funny, but actually quite endearing
Haha, thanks for that! Glad you weren't offended by my mispronunciations. And yes, all killer no filler certainly sums up Mutter. Every track on it brought something new with its sound while somehow keeping the whole album incredibly cohesive. Very impressive!
@@mollyesanborn music is universal, and you're on a musical journey Molly, your channel is about discovering new things, and in this video language also came into play...I don't believe any of your subscribers or viewers would be offended over some mispronounced song titles...I'm sure Ramstein fans worldwide will be pleased that you're checking them out 🤘🙂
Rein, raus...basically means in, out...so its a song about sex. They often use more complex metaphors or innuendos for some sort of sexual intercourse (not shying away from very dark themes like abuse), but they are pretty straight forward in this one. Sonne translates to sun. This song was written for a boxer (initially called sieger, which means winner or victor) as his entrance music but Klitschko thought it was too hard, so they rearranged the lyrics a bit and made it about the sun. Thats also the reason why they use so much counting in the song. Ich will (I want) is basically a song where they criticise the view german media has on them, praising them one hand and giving them prizes but at the same time bad mouthing them for their controversial things/themes (becoming a bit clearer if you watch the music video). Its a song that, like you picked up, where they ask the crowd and the crowd answers (can you hear us, can you see us, can you feel us...where the crowd basically answers with yes we can). Mutter means mother, its about a child that was created artificially and yearns for a mother, but cant have one and hates its life and the imaginary mother that he hates for not being there (heavily inspired by Frankenstein). It was also a way to deal with the damaged/tough relationships both the singer (Till) and guitarist (Richard) have/had(?) with their mothers. Like someone suggested, maybe you should read translated lyrics before or after the song. Make sure to get one of the good ones though, there are some spotty one on the net, the good ones even provide some context and explain some double meanings in their lyrics.
Rammstein is the best band I've seen live. Very deliberate and precise with everything they do. Their music videos are awesome too and you really pick up on their humor.
Oh, my God, I really wanted this reaction haha, I love that band and I love each of its members, it is one of those bands that maintain a very solid alignment of members and that is why it is easy to feel a connection with them. As for music this album is simply one of its classics.
Rammstein is dope!! Their self-titled album came out my senior year of high school, and I became completely obsessed with it! imo their sound is completely unique and captivating, awesome band!
Finally this is the reaction I've been waiting for a long time, to one of my favorite bands. Given that all Rammstein's albums are, each in their own way, milestones of the "Industrial Metal" genre, I suggest you listen to their latest work "Zeit", released on April 29th, it's a masterpiece! Congratulations and keep it up in this way!"
Almost took German in high school just to understand the lyrics. Ultimately didn't, but can still sing with Till word for word. Whenever Rammstein comes to town, everyone is immediately fluent in German 🤘
Thank you! Glad you liked the reaction. And yeah, it is a very unique album. I love the blend of so many genres and sounds that they use across the whole thing.
You listened and reviwed the best Rammstein album ever produced :) This album was a big jump in Rammstein's career since they brought their music to another level. In addition, they were internationally recognized as a good-quality metal band. Hopefully you can check Mutter lyrics and give us your thoughts about them. Just keep in mind Till writes creepy, crazy, true and amazing lyrics :)
A couple pronunciation tips. The "ei" sound is like "eye" as opposed to "ee". Think "Einstein". The "W" is more a "V" sound. And if I remember right, if a word ends with an "e", for example Sonne, it is said like "uh". And with the "S" being a "Z" sound in this case, the word Sonne would be more like Zo-n-nuh. Its been a while since I studied German, but I'm fairly certain this is correct. All that being said, I love these full album reactions. I have yet to hear a Rammstein song, let alone album, I didn't like. They are an amazing band, and definitely worth exploring further.
Thank you, I really appreciate the help with the German pronunciation. And glad you enjoyed the reaction! This album was great, and I'm excited to hear some more from Rammstein now.
This was my first album by Rammstein. I was blown away by their heavyness (lyricly, especially on the title track «Mutter») and the energetic music. As a German native speaker the full comprehension of the lyrics is definitely a highlight. But it is so interesting to see someone react to Rammstein without the layer of lyrics. I picture it like a gallery. Walking through and looking left and right and picking the stuff that resonates. Thanks for sharing your journey with us, Molly.
Would be cool to see you do a reaction for all of their albums!! I'd recommend googling the English translations to their songs. Google doesn't get it 100% correct but they can be very witty and just downright sick lyricists
Yeah, I'll definitely be looking further into the lyrics. And I'll definitely consider some more Rammstein reactions. Mutter was really great and I'm curious to hear if their other albums will embrace some different sides to their sound.
Hey Molly ! As a half german old guy, I LMAO at your butchering of the language (in a good way) but loved your reactions, as usual. I still cry every time I listen to Mutter (Mother) since my mom passed away though. My bet is you will be asked to react to the first 3 albums (a Holy Trilogy to some of us)
You should definitely check up English lyrics for Rammstein. The lead singer is also a poet, so you might find some clever social commentary every now and then. Also, you'd be surprised how similar some German and English words might be.
I watch a fair bit of react content and your reactions are pretty unique I feel, I've been watching your videos here and there for a while now and it always feels like I'm watching a radio broadcast. There's also something very open about your style, you come across as very unassuming. I love how you can listen to the gnarliest lyrically super fucked up stuff and just be like "I really love how the guitar builds with the energy of the lyrics". This reaction in particular is pretty funny to me, I live in the Netherlands which means German is a very recognizeable language for me. Despite the fact that you clearly have 0 clue what's going on with the lyrics you still pick up on some cool stuff instrumentally, and well, there's just something comedic about someone with a very American accent pronouncing the song titles and the band's name. It reminds me of Brad Pitt in Inglorious Bastards when he greets people in Italian. I'm not entirely sure why I felt the need to write all that out but what I'm trying to say is I think you got something pretty unique going on here and I think that's great. Keep it up!
Haha, I loved reading this comment! Glad you found the reaction entertaining with my very American pronunciations of the German titles. And yeah, I do try and keep a pretty open mind with music. Even if the lyrics are in English it usually does take me several listens to an album to start picking up on most of the lyrics. It was really interesting giving a German band a listen though!
Mutter is my favorite Rammstein album. Its rare when I actually like all the songs on one album.. My favorite song is Rein Raus. Then Links 2 3 4, Sonne, Spieluhr, Zwitter and then the rest of the songs...all of them are awesome!! 😍😍🤘🏻🤘🏻💯💯🔥🔥💕💕
My favorite Rammstein album, and the one that introduced me to their music. I still remember the day I heard it for the first time at a friend's house. We didn't talk until it finished, just exchanging some stank faces now and then. I wish there were a way to listen to it for the first time again. Amazing stuff.
Mutter was the very 1st album my mom bought for me that was "my own" taste in music, and not one she handed down basically. Even listening to it now, *literally* _2 DECADES_ later it's absolutely excellent
What I remember most when first hearing this record was feeling like I finally had evidence they were influenced by a Yugoslavian (not sure what territory they are from but Yugoslavia was a country when I was introduced to them) band, Laibach. The internet still wasn't what it is now so really didn't have a clear answer to what I had been wondering since hearing their earlier records. The opening track, 'Links 2 3 4', and 'Feuer Frei' felt very much in line with Laibach who I had been enjoying at that point since the late 80's. In the late 80's the owner of the record store I shopped at knew I am a Queen fan and introduced me to this song called 'Geburt Einer Nation' which musically was a cover of 'One Vision'. Lyrically though I could tell it wasn't a simple translation into a foreign tongue. This happens often, for those who don't know, for example the 80's classic from Nina, '99 Luftballoons'. Laibach has similar bass vocalist at the forefront but take a much more avant-garde approach to their industrial sound rather than metal. They also parody European military iconography in their image along with military, nationalist, and totalitarian themes lyrically which turns off many. I can see anyone discovering them today not seeing the irony and joke; especially in our current political times compared to the 80's when they emerged trying to show that totalitarian ideas were not gone. Sadly they have been proven right. Sorry to throw in politics but unfortunately hard to ignore when discussing them or even Rammstein where especially Mutter had some questioning the bands politics.
YES, YES, YES! one of the quintessential INDUSTRIAL masterpieces ever, and Molly REACTS to it. WOO! also, when you get around to it, listen to Just one Fix by Ministry ( you'll notice the RIFF, and it's just one fix that used that riff and all other INDUSTRIAL used it since, it's the FOUNDATION riff)
Glad you enjoyed the video! This album was such a great listen, I loved all of the industrial metal elements they used but they fused it with so many other sounds and genres that it made for a really refreshing mix of elements. Can't wait to hear more from Rammstein, and I'll have to check out Ministry too :)
First off fantastic react/review channel Molly Sanorn, I'd like to throw in a suggestion based upon what albums you've been listening to.. the British alternative rock band Placebo. they started in 1994 and continued releasing albums, their most recent was this year 'Never let me go' (2022) cheers!
Thanks, glad you're enjoying the channel! I've been recommended Placebo by some other people in the comments as well, I'll definitely have to check them out soon.
I got this album shortly after release when I was in middle school. I wore this album the fuck out, listening to it close to every day for the first year and once a week after for a few years. Still my favorite of theirs and one of my favorite albums of all time. My most memorable time with it was listening to it while laying on my trampoline in the cool air of the fall after my girlfriend and I broke up. Good times.
When I last saw the poll, which was right after you had posted it basically, it seemed like everyone was recommending you to check their first album, I guess mainly only because they wanted you to see their whole repertoire in the chronological order, so I was little bit surprised when I saw you have reacted to their third studio album Mutter instead, but I'm glad it's finally here. Thanks for the reaction Molly !! Some parts were actually funny - 6:15 Till: "Ich will, dass ihr mich versteht"/in English: "I want you to understand me" ... and Molly's face: nope! 🤣
Haha, glad you enjoyed the reaction! Yeah I noticed those comments too, I considered going in chronological order but wanted to stay true to the poll results.
Great you understand their music and what makes them special. They play it live nearly exactly how it sounds on the records but they add certain things that i won't spoil. Rammstein breaks expectations every time 😁 They certainly have one of the best audio engineers you can get. Live and in the studio. To understand the lyrics is another level but Rammstein is very good for interpretations because they deliver really deep and twisted stuff. Please do their first LP next.
It's been a long time since I've listened to Rammstein, without a doubt I'll have to review their discography again, and a few days ago they released a new album.
You read my mind, I was going to recommend you Rammstein. Sonne (Sun) It was to be a boxer's song, that's why the count to ten and saya Hier Komm Die Sonne (Here comes the sun, his punch) in the video the band are the 7 dwarfs and Snow White a evil drug addict. Spieluhr It's about a kid who fakes his own death and is buried and rescued next to a musical box.
Very good review, Molly. First time I see anyone on UA-cam doing the full Rammstein´s album review. It´s cute to see how you pronounce every song name totally wrong :-), but your analysis of their music is spot on.
Rammstein have a pretty impeccable career. Mutter is a great place to start, as I feel it's a threshold album. Their first 2 albums were more electronic and had more energy to them. Mutter keeps a lot of that industrial tinges of the first 2 albums, but adds more epic orchestral stuff that would become a standard in their repertoire. Reise, Reise, the album following Mutter would lean more into that, incorporating orchestra and live choral vocals. Mutter and Reise, Reise are both albums I recommend to new Rammstein fans. I feel like once you fall in love with those two, you can branch out into their earlier and later works. Reise, Reise was such a great album, the cut songs became their next album Rosenrot, which is also a great album (though I'm not too big into Te quiero puta! or Stirb nicht vor mir) Rammstein is consistently awesome, and the album they released a week ago is easily the best thing they've done in a while. I did love their 2019 untitled album, but Zeit is one of those flawless albums like Mutter and Reise, Reise. The only album of theirs I don't completely love is Liebe Ist Fur Alla Da, which I have to clarify that the songs on it that are good, are some of the best songs the band have done. There's just a few I don't particularly enjoy all that much. In fact, I think songs that were cut from the album should've been included instead, like Donaukinder, Führe mich, Gib Mir Deine Augen, Vergiss Uns Nicht, and Mein Land, which were all written or recorded during those sessions. Rammstein have a lot of great non-album tracks. Kokain, Hallelujah, and their cover of Stripped are all amazing tracks. Hallelujah was a Mutter recording, and the band have done it live a few times.
Yes, I'm definitely excited to give more of their discography a listen now. i didn't realize until someone else mentioned it that they just had a new album out, I'll have to give that one a listen too. I'd love to compare it with their earlier sound on Mutter.
As always you nailed a lot of nails in the head: Rammstein is indeed an industrial metal band, akin to NIN and Static X, they were the main example of what is called Neue Deutsche Härte (it translate as New German Hardness), an industrial metal German movement from the beginning and mid 90's (post reunification, that point is important to have in mind). Many bands from that era, many still playing, that are or were (many changed throughout the years) very similar to Rammstein, although Rammstein wasn't by any means the first one. Rammstein members lived in the east side of Berlin, the communist side, unlike many bands of the Neue Deutsche Härte movement who mostly lived in the west side. That influenced their music in many ways, one of the main ones was precisely the electronic scene from the 80's, which was illegal in the east. After reunification, that electronic scene grew up exponentially and to this day Berlin is known for its raves and discos, but more over, Rammstein is highly influenced by the pop music the, in some cases, barely had access to. Their first album was a total success from early on and the combination of those different circumstances made their sound very unique among comparable bands. By the time Mutter came out they were international sensations, but they had a hard time facing controversies with no basis in reality. They are germans, they are metal, they sing in a baritone register, they are white... a lot of people accused of being nazis or far right wing sympathizers and that pissed them off because in reality, they are very left leaning and they have continuously talked of the east Berlin in very positive terms (Richard Kruspe, main guitarist and founder not at all, he is the only one that lives outside Berlin, and he is politically a bit different). So what happened is that Mutter was a response to that: Links 2, 3, 4 translate as 'Left 2, 3 ,4' and basically is a song to unite and fight the power (it is reflected in the video), Ich Will means 'I demand' and it evokes a dictator demanding obedience and the people responding they wont. Feuer Frei is about... fire, is actually the command that the German military uses to engage and there are both references to war and sex. The album theme is abortion which is still a touchy subject in Germany, and a lot of the lyrics (Sonne, Spielhur, Mutter) are based in folk stories. Mutter is such a great example of imagination and refinement. There is a last component to Rammstein which is how sexual is everything in general, being Mutter one of the album were is not that noticeable given the intention they had with it, but you will see how erotic everything gets. This is one of my favorites album and it is very important part of my teenage year. I managed to see them live previous to the pandemic and I already bought tickets to see them again. It is... an experience. Keep it up!
yeah! RAMMSTEIN! I have been listening them for 20 years non-stop. I love how you pronounce the titles, Im smiling a lot :D 13:34 "We got this great guitar again" Oh yes we do! Thats Industrial Metal ;)
I know, I just realized they have a new album out! I'll definitely have to give it a listen, still not sure what order I'm gonna do their albums in though.
Completing my previous message, if you won't go to listen their second álbum, you should react to Du Hast, his greatest hit. Du Hast is very danceable and disco style, you will love it.
Great reaction! This was my first Rammstein album back in the day. Glad you dug it. If you have a chance to watch a live version of "Feuer Frei," please do. The dragon masks at the finale are so cool. Easily the best live show I've ever been too.
Hey You should try listening to Soen, it's a really good prog-metal band with heavy influences from Tool and Opeth, they got a unique sound but at the sale time You can hear the influences, you'll love them!!
Also the first song I ever heard by Rammstein was Sonne (when I was 14 but still my favorite track), first saw and heard Sonne on Kerrang (TV channel) the music video blew me away, it still stands out today, you should definitely check it out, infact you should do reactions to some of the well known music videos from these albums, would be a nice extra to wrap up an album :)
This album is brilliant. The lyrics are insanely good, and have so many layers. And I agree with @Marvin Bogatsch ... and hey, my favorite track is Mutter.
I was kept looking to see if you did this album, I'm glad you did, not the album I would have picked. He does have some English tracks if interested on his solo album and a few through Rammstein. It's pronounced Ram Stein too 😂. You can pick up on some if you listen closer to the diction. Sonne the sun, mutter mother, my heart burns.
Awesome! Rammstein is such a amazing and unique band, it's very impressive to me that the main german band/artist known out there globally plays METAL, and not pop/trap/rap or any other mainstream crap hehe. I suggest you checking Sehnsucht next, released before Mutter. It has a more raw and heavy sound.
Love this band, love this album, it's a classic when I briefly lived in Germany it helped me learn German by reading the lyrics, I saw them in 2017(I think) live, amazing stage show! The flames felt like they were cooking my face, the folks at the front must of had no eyebrows after the show lol
My first intro to Rammstein was their album "Live Aus Berlin" and holy molly you want ear worm after ear worm you must check out. I used to speak German which is what drew me but you don't need to understand because the sound they make is visceral, almost instinctual. Great review once again hope you do more Rammstein, been waiting for their concert that was cancelled the first year of covid, cancelled again last year and now 2022 Sept it happens (I hope).
For the lyrics, from what I can remember the site 'affenknecht' has great translations of their lyrics and explanations/backstories for a lot of the songs, themes, lines and words. I'd suggest checking that out.
That angelic singing in Sonne is actually a sample they took from the movie Snow White. You should check out the music video for it some time. It's incredible and plays off as a way darker take on the movie with the band as the dwarfs and Snow White as an abusive heroin addict 😄
Yes, I will definitely be doing some further digging into the lyrics of this album! :)
Yeah, definitely the lyrics add a lot to the experience
At the same time they’re also very simple literal translations. My German teacher used them as a teaching aid.
Doch !😊
Yes the lyrics - amazing. They go so well with the music on all the tracks.
Such a classic of an album. Sonne, Mutter, Mein Hertz Brent - just incredible.
Yes, this was a great listen! I think Sonne is my favorite.

Fun fact: "Links 2 3 4" is their response to all the accusations like "Rammstein is a Nazi-Band" n stuff.

I studied German in secondary school and have successfully taught a few friends basic German for the purpose of understanding Rammstein lol

Rosenrot is very underrated 😞😞😞, i love Rosenrot
@@Ozzy_Dio estoy de acuerdo contigo!
Rosenrot is fantastic, they were really killing it in that Reise, Reise era
Same here. Rosenrot is absolutely gorgeous
"Sonne" is a banger. I could listen to that track on repeat for days. Also, the video adds a whole new layer to it. Check it out if you get the chance.
I will definitely give the music video a watch!
These are the song topics in this album
1. Mein Herz Brennt: Children nightmares and "Der Sandmann".
2. Links 2 3 4: A song they wrote stating how their heart beats left, as a response to everyone calling them nazis.
3. Sonne: Written as a boxing entrance to an ukrainian boxer back in 2001 called Vitali Klitschko ( Now mayor of Kyiv, Ukraine)
4. Ich Will: Not a deep song, considered as simply a crowd interaction song, but deeper can be about wanting to be heard and seen, or misunderstood.
5. Feuer Frei: Not a deep song at all, just "Fire at will" about releasing anger
10. Zwitter: A person dying of an overdose
11. Nebel: A song about a couple sharing their final moments together, with a walk on the beach and a final kiss, before the woman dies.
Thank you for this! I will definitely be doing some digging into the English translations of these tracks now, sounds like I have a lot to look forward to.
Nice summary, two questions though:
*7. Spieluhr - how do you know it's she? I think you can't.
*8. Zwitter - I don't see any bisexuality topics mentioned in this track
@@jakubbriza7274 You can look up the definition of „Zwitter“ or „hermaphrodite“, that will answer your question
@@jakubbriza7274 * spieluhr -> its not said in the lyrics but I heared in an interview that they thought of a boy writing this song (i think they even named him but I cant remember the name)
* zwitter - it is definitely about bisexuality
@@mollyesanborn Track 5 is ambiguous and a little bit risque.(Sorry, my english is not so good.)
It’s still hard to comprehend this album is 20 years old. What a timeless album.
If you get the chance to see them live, don’t miss it 😊
too late - they hung it up!
@@odunhops7727 really? Is it official? Adieu sounded like a goodbye song, but I can’t accept it yet😭
@@joeliaskywalker nah its just some fan theory stuff, nothing official

@@odunhops7727 What do you mean? Just saw them few hours ago in Prague.
Still the only reaction video maker worth watching. The English pronunciations were so very entertaining 😂
Wow, thank you! I appreciate that. Glad you enjoyed the video :D
Listen to their first 2 Albums, "Herzeleid" and "Sehnsucht". Way heavier and, in my opinion, even better.
Definitely more industrial. I like them too, but I believe Mutter is their masterpiece.
Sehnsucht is a masterpiece front to back
really enjoyed this reaction/review Molly...for many, their hugely popular song Du Hast would've been the introduction to Ramstein, but Mutter was the album that put them on the map, it's all killer no filler...also you shouldn't concern yourself so much over the pronunciation of the song titles, yes, you butchered them, but not in a bad way, it's like hearing a non English speaker trying to pronounce English language, it's a little funny, but actually quite endearing
Haha, thanks for that! Glad you weren't offended by my mispronunciations. And yes, all killer no filler certainly sums up Mutter. Every track on it brought something new with its sound while somehow keeping the whole album incredibly cohesive. Very impressive!
@@mollyesanborn music is universal, and you're on a musical journey Molly, your channel is about discovering new things, and in this video language also came into play...I don't believe any of your subscribers or viewers would be offended over some mispronounced song titles...I'm sure Ramstein fans worldwide will be pleased that you're checking them out 🤘🙂
All these years later and I can still sing along with this album despite not having any idea what any of the lyrics mean
One of the very rare albums where I love every single song on it. Absolute banger.
Hallelujah was the bonus track that was first introduced with this album. Another banger!
Thanks for this! I'll definitely do some further diving into the lyrics on Mutter.
Rammstein is the best band I've seen live. Very deliberate and precise with everything they do.
Their music videos are awesome too and you really pick up on their humor.
I'll definitely have to give their videos a watch!
Oh, my God, I really wanted this reaction haha, I love that band and I love each of its members, it is one of those bands that maintain a very solid alignment of members and that is why it is easy to feel a connection with them. As for music this album is simply one of its classics.
Rammstein's best album. They took everything they learned from Herzeleid, and Sehnsucht, and elevated it to another level.
i think you're going to hit 15k very soon thanks to this reaction. My preliminary congrats!
You were right! I'll remember that you were the first to congratulate me, thank you! :D
Rammstein is dope!! Their self-titled album came out my senior year of high school, and I became completely obsessed with it! imo their sound is completely unique and captivating, awesome band!
To this day Rammstein probably had my favorite live performance I’ve ever seen. Hell of a show.
Объективно лучший альбом в дискографии

Please do video's on all the RAMMSTEIN albums!!! So much to discover
It's super nostalgic watching you go through albums I listened to over a decade ago. Makes me feel old though.
I'm listening this band over 20 years, it's magnificent. You should continue from start, from 1st album - Herzeleid.
You really know your stuff. This is a great album. Unique. 👍🏻 🤘🏻
Ah hell yeah, Molly coming in clutch with a dopamine hit.
I would recommend reading the translated lyrics, i feel it really adds to the songs.
This album was great, I'm so glad I've finally heard some music from Rammstein. Glad you enjoyed the reaction, thanks for watching :)
My bet is you will be asked to react to the first 3 albums (a Holy Trilogy to some of us)
I'm glad that you enjoyed the video and got a kick out of my pronunciations, haha! I'm looking forward to hearing more from Rammstein.
You should definitely check up English lyrics for Rammstein. The lead singer is also a poet, so you might find some clever social commentary every now and then. Also, you'd be surprised how similar some German and English words might be.
I will absolutely do that!
rammstein é uma banda incrível
Perfect timing. After my midterm exam, my professor from Germany played Rammstein over the speakers. Was a great time.
As a german it's nice seeing you checking out one of our greatest contributions to metal 🤟🏻
You need to watch their live shows , absolutely incredible
Sorry to throw in politics but unfortunately hard to ignore when discussing them or even Rammstein where especially Mutter had some questioning the bands politics.
think they are from Slovenia
That's interesting, thanks for sharing. I think Laibach has been recommended a few times actually, I'll have to give their music a listen too.
Laibach sucks
Rammstein live is an incredible experience, so huge and mind blowing. I miss them, I hope they tour the States again.
Rammstein é uma banda que não sou tão fã, mas esse álbum é excelente, e eu gosto de mais dois álbuns deles
Sim, Mutter é um álbum fantástico. Estou feliz por finalmente ter ouvido!
Regardless of the language, the music is outstanding and Til is such a great vocalist
Good times.
Layer upon layer upon layers this is why we love rammstein.
That parallel you drew between SOAD and Rammstein was so on point!
Yeah, there are some definite similarities between their sounds.
I hope you get to check their newest release Zeit, it's my favorite at the moment
It's actually so much more fun hearing you pronounce the songtitles with mostly englisch delivery. :D
Haha, glad you enjoyed my pronunciations! :)
Great you understand their music and what makes them special. They play it live nearly exactly how it sounds on the records but they add certain things that i won't spoil.
Rammstein breaks expectations every time 😁
They certainly have one of the best audio engineers you can get. Live and in the studio.
To understand the lyrics is another level but Rammstein is very good for interpretations because they deliver really deep and twisted stuff.
Please do their first LP next.
That was great! Loved this reaction to the entire Mutter album..💕💯🤘🏻🔥😍
Thanks! ❤️
This is really good! I didn't really expect them to be this good but this album was amazing! 🤘
Very good review, Molly. First time I see anyone on UA-cam doing the full Rammstein´s album review. It´s cute to see how you pronounce every song name totally wrong :-), but your analysis of their music is spot on.
Glad you enjoyed the video! I know my German pronunciation is very poor, but glad it kept you entertained :)
Rammstein one of the gratest and "Reise Reise" is still my fav album)
Piece from Ukraine 🇺🇦 🤘
Yep that was my introduction to Rammstein back in 2001, amazing album and legendary music videos:)
Great reaction! I can't wait for you to react to Herzeleid album. It's my favourite album.
I'm looking forward to it!
So what happened is that Mutter was a response to that:
Links 2, 3, 4 translate as 'Left 2, 3 ,4' and basically is a song to unite and fight the power (it is reflected in the video), Ich Will means 'I demand' and it evokes a dictator demanding obedience and the people responding they wont.
Keep it up!
Thanks for the very informative comment, I appreciate it!
FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?!?!!
yeah! RAMMSTEIN! I have been listening them for 20 years non-stop.
I love how you pronounce the titles, Im smiling a lot :D
13:34 "We got this great guitar again" Oh yes we do! Thats Industrial Metal ;)
Perfect reactions😂❤.Greetings from Poland!
Thanks for watching :)
Great album- will def be cool to see you go through the catalog
geez as a german, its really cute to hear the pronouncments of these german words :D I love it (:
haha, glad you enjoyed the mispronunciations :)
Hey Molly! Love the video! Sonne has an awesome music video. If you liked the song you might like the video!
I will definitely have to give that a watch!
I love your reactions and reviews. I expect your reaction to the last album of Rammstein (Zeit).
Thank you for reacting to this!
They have the album out its called ZEIT and its great.
React to it also :D
I know, I just realized they have a new album out! I'll definitely have to give it a listen, still not sure what order I'm gonna do their albums in though.
Completing my previous message, if you won't go to listen their second álbum, you should react to Du Hast, his greatest hit. Du Hast is very danceable and disco style, you will love it.
Sounds cool, I can't wait to hear Du Hast when I get to Sehnsucht.
This is my favorite Rammstein Album. Greta job Molly
i've never been a big fan of this band but Feuer Frei is always a crowd-pleaser :)
My favorite band ♥️♥️♥️
Great reaction! This was my first Rammstein album back in the day. Glad you dug it. If you have a chance to watch a live version of "Feuer Frei," please do. The dragon masks at the finale are so cool. Easily the best live show I've ever been too.
Hey You should try listening to Soen, it's a really good prog-metal band with heavy influences from Tool and Opeth, they got a unique sound but at the sale time You can hear the influences, you'll love them!!
Aww, you're soo kewt! Your expression and teefs, just too cuuuuute.
Yeah, a lot of people have been telling me to give Rammstein's videos a watch, I'll definitely do that!
This album is brilliant. The lyrics are insanely good, and have so many layers. And I agree with @Marvin Bogatsch
... and hey, my favorite track is Mutter.
The flames felt like they were cooking my face, the folks at the front must of had no eyebrows after the show lol
to really appreciate these guys i suggest to watch live videos(paris) and official videos. Also to look up translated lyrics.
I will have to do that!
The perfect Rammstein album. They never made one like this since
My first intro to Rammstein was their album "Live Aus Berlin" and holy molly you want ear worm after ear worm you must check out. I used to speak German which is what drew me but you don't need to understand because the sound they make is visceral, almost instinctual. Great review once again hope you do more Rammstein, been waiting for their concert that was cancelled the first year of covid, cancelled again last year and now 2022 Sept it happens (I hope).
I recommend watching some of these songs live in your spare time, they’re awesome live.
You should pick up their latest album, it was released a couple of days ago and it sounds great, great tracks. Zeit, Angst, Schwarz ...
For the lyrics, from what I can remember the site 'affenknecht' has great translations of their lyrics and explanations/backstories for a lot of the songs, themes, lines and words. I'd suggest checking that out.
Thank you for letting me know :)
Definitely my favorite album still! 🤘
I love you Molly 🌹 I hope you are doing good. 😉
Yes, this album was great to finally hear! Thanks for watching the video :)
That angelic singing in Sonne is actually a sample they took from the movie Snow White. You should check out the music video for it some time. It's incredible and plays off as a way darker take on the movie with the band as the dwarfs and Snow White as an abusive heroin addict 😄
That sounds like a very intriguing video... I'll definitely give it a watch!
The only album I have listened to by Rammstien was Sehnsucht. Mainly because I only heard of Du haust. I know I need to expand a little.
