I'm really confused by the people hating on the video and the drummer... I think the video is amazing and reflects the themes of the song perfectly. As for the drummer, the guy has talent - maybe he's not your typical drummer, but I don't want your run-of-the-mill back-bench beat guy, I want someone who stands out, which he does no doubt. I want innovation, which is exactly what I get from the Skints at every level.
hes literally the most talented part of the group imo. plays drums guitar and sings and does all three well enough to be the lead of the group hahaha anyone who hates on him is tone def or just hasnt watched him enough
People...please stop commenting on how cheap the video looks....the song is about being limited by the cost of living which involves money......so they're not guna go out spending loads of money on a video are they......
Honestly, I think all of Chris Hugall's videos for the Skints are amazing. I love them. Anyway, some glitzy Hype Williams-style video for a song about "the cost of living is killing me" would really be kind of silly. Even ironically.
Yep. Half of it is shot on deliberately old/ cheap analogue equipment - 90s VHS compact camcorders, 8mm ciné cameras from the 70s etc. A lot of it is real footage, not a digital effect to make it look raw.
I live and breath reggae and having a female voice is super liberating! Love that she’s not made the only front person too just because she is female. All of the band is so talented and this is just day one of me finding The Skints. Great sound and messages.
This band, while arguably in a bit of a niche market, deserves WAY more credit and acclaim than they receive. Fucking brilliant, it's nice to hear all of their vocals, minus Jon, and the Groundhog Day reference...hehe.
Seamus Butler-Ellis Being well known around London doesn't make them well known. I've seen them live loads of times and a lot of the time it's been to a crowd of 200 or less. I fucking love this band and want them to have all the success they deserve, but there's no denying they're in a niche genre. Nonetheless, they're good enough to achieve mainstream success and while I'm sure it will happen, I also like the idea of going to see them play a tiny venue to less than 100 people without it feeling like a one-off to 'reconnect' with their core fans.
Numonkei Yeah of course it's good to spead the love. I've introduced them to loads of my friends who are massive fans now too. If all music was as good as this then the world would be a much better place :)
This song has been a firm favourite of mine since it was released. I love all the work from the Skints, but nothing ever topped Live. Breathe. Build. Believe for me, until I heard this. The last few lines, sung over the organ. I still find it haunting.
When Tippa Irie and Horseman come in, makes me think collaborations and friendships between the jamaicans that came to uk and the working class whire kids there. i remember reading about when i was 11-12 years old and wishing that i was there. What a magical time and it looks like the tradition continues. ❤
This is a VERY clever track! It's got deep meaningful lyrics that hit the soul. The production is tight and the video sets the whole thing into motion and creates an atmosphere that really brings the track to life!
the lit her al only ting killing me, the free cost of life ❤️💛💚 the skints are like tool to me because ALL their songs are tied for first place as my favorite! Old or new skints are the jams to all peanut butter everywhere thank for making music so beautifully 💚💛❤️
After listening to all of The Skints' other music and seeing them live a couple of times, I certainly give this track my stamp of approval (not that it counts for much) but there you go. Will be buying the album for sure.
This tune hitting different in 2023 😂
Now that the BBC have used this tune, maybe The Skints will blow up and get the recognition they deserve!
We can only hope ❤️
@@RunningRiotRich I have
fuck the bbc =]
I think maybe people should recognize the huge mistake that they made voting Brexit. Everyone had COVID but only UK have these enormous problems
This is so relevant in 2023 😢😢😢
This song is so relevant in this current time.
2024 bristol sounds banged 🙌 👌
Channel 4 news brought me here. Welcome to 2022.
Same. I never heard of this song, but I thought it was new.
This aged well... UK 2022 is a mess! Big up the Skints, always
Its a mess in so many places sadly. Time to speak up!

Who the fuck hate's jamie though? Cunts i'll fucking smash all of em.
I consider him more of a vocalist of the group just a than drummer lol.

Depends how cynical you are??
+Nate Peace it looks really nice to me. Awesome video, outlines their style, kind of underground.
I think the vid looks just smashing!

cdv1qa Okay. But no ambition to spread such love?
cdv1qa Secret? They're pretty well known around London. Ska/reggae/dub has been pretty big for years now haha - Just check out the dub pistols.

This is so good, the meaning is clear and the lyrics are smooth. Good job man keep it up!
