Why haven't u reviewed ~ King Arthur : Knight's Tale ~ Please Review tht @ACG
Its one of the Rarest Gem which underrated in X-com style storytelling and King arthur mythos is super new to me.. i'm not fully into tht lore. but this game needs your Highlights Karak
You mentioned using a rating scale of Buy, Wait for Sale or Never Touch, but didn't actually end up rating it. Maybe I'm stupid, but I assume it's a buy? I enjoy w40k, but I really wasn't sure for 40 dollars haha.
@@Arclibs He does that for many videos. i think he says something like "If ur warhammer 40K fan its a buy"
Hey I just got hit by by a dude using your logo asking me to download Whatsapp, assuming that wasn't you/one of your bots?
@@Tauntingwolf I get those on from many youtube channels its not bot its spam..
About freaking time somebody emulated what makes XCOM fun and incorporated that into a 40K game. I thought Battlescector was going to be it, but it was too stingy with it's "MUST BE EXACTLY LIKE THE TTGAME or DIE, HERECTIC" gameplay. A good game in this genre is about speed, traversal options, and just over all flair of the combat. I will definitely be checking out this title at some point. thanks for the review!
play Mechancious 40K xcom mechnicious vs necrons
yeah, mechanicus was pretty great as well. nice to have more!
It was done before in the original Chaos Gate game, which I still prefer personally over this one. So far it's still the only Warhammer video game that's come the closest to emulating the actual tabletop game.
@@rtsgod put 25+ hours into it
mechanicus and mordheim are both basically this
The X-Com style was made for Warhammer. I'm glad they're finally getting it right.
Fraxis really captured lightning in a bottle with the xcom reboot and nothing has really come close to it (not even Phoenix Point which had xcom vets behind it). This looks like the best contender to that crown so far though
the Mechanicus game was more enjoyable to me than XCOM but mostly because the soundtrack and stuff put it over the top for me.
Gears Tactics is great.
if you have that itch, check out Troubleshooter: Abandoned Children. I've not played it myself, but I hear it's great if you're into the combat/builds
@@raknikmik Yeah best so far for me sadly it needed more map and mission variety.
@@Sammo212 The guy that made that soundtrack is also doing the one for Ixion and it is also great.
The single-sentence thing I find is a really good streamlining technique. If they spoke every line in their dialogue rather than a single, pertinent one we’d be complaining about the overwhelming volume of speaking.
the mechanicus soundtrack was so goddamn good, hoped to get more of that style.
I recently picked up WH40K Mechanicus on sale, and really enjoyed it. I think I'll like this one too. Mechanicus has just the best music, too.
Never been an XCOM fan, but I do like WH40K's lore and illustration.
Spot on with Mechanicus soundtrack - some great stuff :)
Yeah the music is next level in that game. Might be one of the most perfect kind for that game
The "voice" acting in mechanicus is amazing. I love it. And the music is scary good as well.
Mechanicus is better. Chaos gate is decent.
The gameplay is better in Chaos Gate, while the soundtrack is better in Mechanicus.
Loved Mechanicus, and am looking forward to this one. Warhammer games seem to finally be hitting it out of the park lately.
And we got darktide and space marine 2 on the way. Good chance those will be great but you never know.
@@lilbuddie5980 Darktide has no reason to not be great. They nailed vermintide.
@@totalmetaljacket789 especially after all the work they've done on vermintide 🙏🏼
@@totalmetaljacket789 oof
@@xenophon5354 Yeah they really dropped the fuckin ball with that one.
Love the editing style and the animated Karak on the thumbnail! As if these reviews weren't on point already! Leaving a comment for that algorithm and shall watch fully later 🥳
i hope that in a year they release more factions, enemies and/or location , or at least a capable Modder do it
Don't hold your breath ....
@@zigzagkill8153 why not?khorne asset are already in game and the modder comunity is more than capable when properly motivated.
@@filiasnox1116 If't like the modding with xcom they probably will be mods for rebalancing ,change of skins or adding new weapons or items ,I don't think both the devs or modderes will add a whole new faction with a story to it
Not having Mechanicus brought up during the soundtrack bit is criminal, ACG...its heresy, even.
You calling them the Grey Wardens even if it was a slip up is totally perfect. This looks like real good times.
nobody cares nerd.
Thank you for the in-depth and detailed review- as always. I had guys on a Facebook group saying they really enjoyed it, but I saw a lot of mixed ratings on steam all of a sudden out of nowhere. I figure I'll go ahead and take the plunge and start sending demons back to the warp after my exams!
I feel like it's worth addressing something about this game's art direction. You mentioned it has less of that gritty beaten-up feel that 40K games usually go for, and that this game looks "cleaner" in that sense. Even that detail is a thematic lore-based decision. The Grey Knights are an "elite among elites" faction, they have many overlaps with what other Space Marines do, but with a more specific focus and superior enhancements than the already-superhuman Space Marines of other chapters. This is also helped by enhanced equipment, which typically looks more like it's brand new, while other chapters have gear which runs like it's brand new, but shows the traces of its thousands of years of maintenance in that surface vineer of cracks and grime.
The Emperor Protec
Im sorry but it looks cartoony. Say it, cartoony. It's a design choice that doesn't feel executed properly and comes off as cheap and buzz-lightyeary
@@hypno5690 I don't personally agree, but I can understand how you got to that conclusion. I think it's perfectly reasonable not to like this game's aesthetic, especially if you prefer the more grity battle-worn look of other 40K games. I'm just explaining that there's a lore-related reason why it makes sense here while the dirtier look fits for other groups in the setting.
You can't look at that inquisitor and not think cartoony, right? How is that grimdark and not fortnite or something!?
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that.
Going by what's shown here it's Nurgle and Khorne featuring. Wandering if there are any other NPCs besides the Inquisitor and the Tech-priest, would be good to see a Canoness and the Sisters of Battle pop up even if only for a few missions.
Does look like a rare example of a good game based on a GW IP. Shame about the voice acting and story Aaron Dembski-Bowden has written some of the best 40K books.
They really love Nurgle's forces as the main antangonist rep in games these days, kind of wish Slaanesh or Tzeench could get the spotlight now and then.
@@rainfoxhound8199 Maybe it's because Slaanesh and Tzeentch are more about magic than brute force, which might be more problematic in terms of game mechanics?
@@rainfoxhound8199 tzeench doesn't lose unless he wants to so wouldn't make much sense if he lost unless it was a way to set up a win for him. Don't see how you'd beat tzeench without nerfing him hard and people wouldn't like that.
@@thelitmango6333 Tzeench looses all the time, for all Tzeenchs forsight it is not omnipotent.
@@nebadin that's exactly why he has Kairos Fateweaver
Christ, that's not a grenade, that's a war crime in a can.
Subscribed for the line at @2:18 about the cash register. Beautiful word smithing
Loving the new overlays and stuff that you're using. Slick.
Awesome review! Going to pick this one up, it looks fantastic
Dude.... I came here sceptical about someone who revieved the game pre release for review. Then I heard you plug to not as popular you tubers like myself and I decided to stick around. Humble and looking out for your fellow content creators deserves a sub in my book. Cheers!
Loving the new Thumbnail format
The graphics in the role-playing segment remind me a lot of Fable, to which I mean as a high compliment.
Thank you for covering this game Karak..looking forward to playing it! :D
Not enough Warhammer 40k games out there.
PC Gamer has an article on the best ones available - 44 listed in total
Just gotta say man, you are hands down the best reviewer period. You out major publications to shame with how thorough and professional you are with your reviews.
We saw many grenade throws but not with grenades that have something written on them! The most important part in war is communicating, and what better way to communicate than write "Wrath" on a grenade you throw at your enemy?
This was one of the best done reviews I've seen of any game. Nice job.
I can't shake the feeling a lot of ACG's one liners in this review were intentionally made to drive 40k fans crazy
;)
Wow, youre sharp, nobody gets anything by you.
@@BlinkBoyBrad You must be fun at parties.
awesome review acg! :) Thinkin' about getting this now.
Thank you for the excellent review which is what we have come to expect from you. Keep up the good work!
Long time fan, thank you for all you do and for turning me onto Happy Console Gamer as well. Great review as always.
I like the sound of the single sentence being spoken from a paragraph of dialog. My eyes read a lot faster than dialog gets spoken, which in a game like this, I will inevitably do instead of waiting to listen to the conversation as the gameplay extends out for dozens of hours. By reducing it down to the highlight of the paragraph, it ensures the best part of the writing is still spoken and draws emphasis to it, while the voice actor still adds the emotion and energy to the character to put me in the moment, and understand what the character is feeling, as I quickly read through their dialog. Sounds like a pretty well thought out feature, to be honest.
Been having fun on it so far today, pretty much Xcom 2 and Gears Tactics in the warhammer universe.
Bro, you...are...the MAN!! As usual you do not disappoint my guy. Subbed a while ago and you still deliver. Was on the fence about this game and as usual, you break that fence down and make an easy choice for me. Keep it up brother 💪🏿
Can't wait to check this review out bro, love your content.
Thank you for the thorough review as always sir 🙏
I would like to thank you for reviewing this, it had my attention cause I love Warhammer (fantasy and 40k), was hoping this would fix and itch.
Divinity 2 was one of my favorite games, so I’m hoping this can fill the void I’ve been feeling lately.
Out of curiosity how long did you play the game for? I was looking for some information about something that happens later in the game, and I watched your review and there was no mention of it. I'm guessing you played about 6-7hrs or something. Would be nice to say that upfront if that's the case imo.
Sorry if I've gotten it wrong, there's just no talk about the map expanding, the corrupted world missions you get later, playing as the inquisitor herself, or the mid-late game technologies.
Spoilers much. He actually talks about two things that happen much farther in the game and shows one and spoilers hints a couple others.
You really should remove those spoilers. A lot of people don't want to know what you are talking about. Also having watched 7 or 8 reviews and read all the major publications' reviews, I didn't see anyone discussing some of that and still not going as in depth as here.
SPOILERS WTF
Wow. I was almost sure it would come out mediocre at best. Now it's a 100% buy. Thanks for this great review! :)
My ACG shirt just came in today. It looks so good and the material is so freaking nice dude!!!!
The more Warhammer stuff I see, the more I want to learn about it. The lore and universe just seem so dense, it's like someone actually thought all this stuff through, instead of adding something just because it's cool. Anyway thanks karak I think I might check this out.
Definitely check it out, it's a bit of a rabbit-hole but the world is incredible and is imo the best fictional universe ever created. i started my 40k journey this year. just bought my first set of Marines and am currently reading one of the books. i'd reccomend Bricky for a more humorous approach to the lore, Weshammer and Leutin09 for the more in depth stuff.
😂😂😂 Literally the opposite is true. Warhammer 40k is just a huge amalgamation of thing the various game creators, and black library authors thought was cool smashed together. It is incredibly dense though you are right about that. Not to discredit the efforts of GW and the black libraries attempt to edit and retcon their universe into something cohesive, but he illusion of a huge preplanned creation is mostly a happy accident.
@ACG you have an art for analogy and metaphor.
First vid of yours I've seen. Thanks!
Random Games Inc. took what Firaxis Games had already established with the XCOM franchise and they've implemented the same kind of gameplay into their latest release. They've done a solid job in the process. Warhammer 40k Chaos Gate DaemonHunters is a day one purchase as far as I'm concerned and I can't wait to play it. Otherwise, thanks as always Karak for another honest, unbiased and detailed review! I really appreciate the hard work!
I've waited 24 years for this sequel. I am so stoked.
I am amazed you did not compare this game to WH40k: Mechanicus
The review of the audio is pretty indepth in comparison to other reviewers. I agree with you based on the hours of streams I watched.
grey knights are my favorite chapter by far, I bought this game before I even knew what genre it was, I'm not the biggest fan of xcom but I might like it more in a 40k presentation
Damn, this game looks on point! I hear the few detractors but visuals (even the ridiculous huds) look solid. Might have to dive into it. Entertaining review too.
I’ve been playing this all morning… I’ve played xcom, phoenix, mechanicus, a bunch of others like partisans, broken lines, othercide, also triangle strategy, fire emblem, as well as this new one Wartales.
This game has a feel which none of those games, not even xcom, has captured. I’d say there are some UI problems in this game currently, but I might get more used to it.
I think we have something special on our hands boys.
I think we have something that is a real disappointment.
Wowowow!!! You are the prime example of hard work pays off. Been a sub since u were in 40k subscribers and you are a hustler man! Super inspired seeing you creeping up to 1 mill
Played so much of the og chaos gate in my youth. Hype for this
Thanks for the great review!
Love your anime dude on the video thumbnail, ACG!!! 😁
Came for the review, stayed for the comments. I'm having a good time with WH: Inquisitor: Martyr, but this looks fun too.
Warhammer 40K: Mechanicus had an epic soundtrack. I wish that was the case here too. :(
Regardless of agreeing or disagreeing with anything you've stated, this is a really great review in my opinion. This is my first time seeing your videos, and it's pretty clear that this is something you should be doing. Keep up the good work, ACG.
So it's basically X-Com meets 40k.
Waiting for this review.
I just started playing Xcom like a week ago, i just cracked 100 hours in WOTC lol. IF this is anything like Xcom, im gonna dump some hours into that. I watch this guy named TapCat. Older dude, calm, chill vids.
I subscribed because you first said to subscribe to other people. Love that attitude
love the Warhammer games, especially when they are Turnbased Combat, always lots of fun, thanks for the review..
Rreminds me of Mechanicus a lot, and I loved that. Still waiting for a sale, but mostly since I just have more games lined up currently than time to play.
Thank you brother.Opening game of 2022 for me :)
You gotta review King Arthur: Knight's Tale. It's my favorite Xcom-like, and it deserves way more attention than it has gotten
I like the one paragraph only thing with speaking, as I read a lot quicker than people talk so I get through the sections between battles quicker than if I have to listen to someone as I struggle to read if someone's talking the words over the top of me reading them
Thanks for the review. No mention of denuvo?
An excellent review - I just got this on Humble Bundle and will be playing.
F'yeah! I like seeing warhammer games getting good reviews thanks for the video dude.
This is the only Warhammer game I have been interested in.
Looks better than anything else they've ever put out that's for sure.
darktide? space marine 2?
ok dude
@@spectre722 I just learned of those 2 games after I wrote this post.
I wasn't aware this was Dragon Age when you started calling the Grey Knights Grey Wardens 😂
The mixing of 2 games is always better than one
if this works on the steam deck, I'm definitely getting it soon. I'm a big Grey Knights and XCOM fan.
Can't wait to spam overwatch for the Emperor
Mechanicus really is the pinnacle of Warhammer universe music. I wonder when we will get something on par with that in the music department.
awesome review
excellent review.
Thank you for the good review
Battlesector was a bit lacking and this seems to scratch that Warhammer itch of mine until Space Marine 2 comes around.
Thanks for the great review!
I hear you about battlesector... Although I think in a Yr or 2 battlesector will be the best 40k game on the market.
We just need workshop and more content
Looks great. I hope Darktide will also turn out great. Good time to be a 40k fan.
As a DeepRock player cant wait for darktide
Thanks for the video
Was hyped but then saw the corruption of matt wards canon of grey knights wielding a khornate sword, heresy, extermanatus declared
you can also use requisition to hire knights via the roster.
This game has one of the most brutal difficulty jumps I’ve ever experienced in a game. It started off so easy that I wanted to bump the difficulty up to hard from normal, then suddenly I got into a mission where there were literally double the amount of enemies and way more of them were elite. It became 3x more difficult with zero gradual transition at all. It’s still a fun game, but it annoys the hell out of me that you can’t just abandon a mission. I’ve had to restart the game twice already due to getting stuck in a literally unbeatable mission with an underperforming squad.
I'm excited to check it out. I love my modded XCOM but the mods add lag. Overall, this really makes me wish Star Wars would make a game like this.
now we need this style of game for deathwatch
"Football Dad" is a good description of Emps' parenting style.
This and warhammer:DarkTide were in my wishlist for long time….now this turned good im waiting for darktide
The cleaner artstyle reminds me of Mechanicus, closer in proportion and style to the actual miniatures.
ACG is one of only a few, that I thumbs up no matter what. ACG has Delivered perfection none stop for so long = Deserves AUTOMATIC thumbs up!!!!
I really enjoyed Gears tactics, which also fit perfectly in this genre.
So this is a must buy for me :D
Great review!
I’ve never heard a better summary of a purity seal than this
The voice acting being sparse is likely a budget constraint.
I feel like Mick Gordon style stuff would actually be good for a 40k soundtrack.
I like the art style. It looks painted, like the tabletop game.
45 euros.... I will wait for the sale. Now if they had done Eldar, and done them well, I would be playing now.
Thank you lol I want to play Eldari so bad
Sounds good, ill play while you wait.
as a newbie is this good. I might get realms of sigma as well and rouge trader.
Loved the original Chaos Gate. Will have to look into this one.
Great review, as always.
If they released a skirmish mode id be soaked as!
OG chaosgate ruled
Don't forget to platform in the beginning please.
PC only for anyone wondering.
Man....you should have minimum of 3M subs!
Bought the game after this review. I love Xcom style games and don't feel we get enough of them
Looks fun. But I still have Battlesector to get through first...
Man I'm a sucker for big chunky space marine Chad's blowing up heretics...all the way back to Chaos gate, which honestly was a Train wreck. I might need to pick this up soon, I was also a big fan of the Mechanicus game.
