      Christians don't believe there is such a thing as gay Christians. The starting point of being a Christian is the willingness to repent. Someone who is willing to repent doesn't call themselves "gay".

    While I am not sure I completely agree with his interpretation of Scripture, I am SO g;ad that I heard this video. Matthew made a compelling case, and he really came at the issue from a standpoint of love and understanding, both for the gay and evangelical Christian sides. I have often been frustrated with the "Christians are all homophobes" and "gays are going to hell" dynamic. Truly most people I know who are born again Christians are compassionate, and even if they think that homosexuality is a sin, they still love their gay neighbor. They are not hateful. unfortunately, there has been a TON of damage done to the gay community by Christian people, and that has to be addressed. On the flipside, some of my husband's family members are gay, and they are happily married or in committed relationships for over a decade, a complete contrast to the "wanton and depraved homosexual" stereotype.
    Coming from the viewpoint of a born again Christian, I have to say that his approach is spot on, and I found myself nodding my head with a lot of the realizations Matthew had regarding approaching the topic and one another. He completely nailed it. Whether I agree or not with his interpretations, I think he has a lot to say and is a voice of reason and compassion.
    Regardless of whether being gay is a sin or not, we have all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. That is why Jesus came, to save us all. And he loves us all, gay or not.

      Yeah he came to save us on condition that we repent of our sins not live in them. Unfortunately the Bible is very clear on the issue it specifically says no homosexuals will enter heaven. It goes on to say such were some of you but you were washed you were sanctified. Past tense.

    Matthew is using his intelligence to convince people to accept what he feels is not sin. It is why he continues to say persuade and convince so many times. Its the word of God that does that in truth and Love.

    No matter what you believe - whether you are an LGBT affirming Christian or not - you have to agree that Matthew does an amazing job at respecting everyone's opinion and settling it whilst taking the Bible very seriously.

    To restrict yourself from a relationship or hurt yourself or enter into an opposite-sex relationship or even to circumcise yourself is to put yourself back under the law which Jesus fulfilled with his sacrifice. Even Paul wrote that the Gentiles need not put themselves under the restrictions of the Old Law, because to do so would be to reject Christ. Consider Galatians 5:2 "Look! I, Paul, tell you that if you have yourselves circumcised, Christ will be of no benefit to you." How much more painful and unnecessary a restriction is it to be denied the pursuit of fulfilling companionship that others get to pursue simply by virtue of being heterosexual? Even God himself says "It is not good that the man should be alone, I will make a suitable partner for him."
    This restriction, like circumcision before it, appears to be an unnecessary barrier to Christ and community with the Church for LGBT people. Are we not worthy of "suitable partners" for ourselves? That would contradict God's decree that such loneliness is not good. Today, if people "cut off" their sexuality or their foreskin, they effectively put themselves back under the old law and Christ becomes nothing to them. If you do not support same-sex relationships, is this really the position you want to stand for? To discriminate against a minority by putting them back under a law that you yourself aren't even under?

    I grew up in very conservative Christian circles, and honestly I'm still figuring out what I believe about LGBTQ issues and Christianity. But I LOVE how Matthew is articulating his thoughts and how he understands where we are coming from. He completely understands the arguments I have heard my whole life and is making some compelling points that actually make sense to me for once, instead of hearing that "Christians hate gays" and "well Leviticus also said not to eat pork, so..." I feel like I have been looking for reasons to believe that you could be gay and Christian, because in my heart it seems so wrong to exclude people like that, but it would be such a huge mindset shift for me...I'm looking forward to reading his book.

      Let me give you some insight if I may ,1st of all , the word of GOD is HOLY, TRUTH and LIFE! The word of GOD is none argumentative, That means it is TRUTH you cannot argue with TRUTH ! you cannot compromise with TRUTH ! and surely you will not twist the TRUTH ! that's what satan does, he is the manipulator, twister and deceiver of the word of GOD ! do not read The BIBLE STUDY The BIBLE! man cannot INTERPRET The BIBLE! no man can! he did not WRITE it ,he PINNED it. GOD spoke it to him and he wrote it, REMEMBER it is the SPOKEN ,WRITTEN, LIVING word of GOD in that order. When a man preaches ,teaches on the word of God he must be anointed!! only then will you know when he speaks, he speaks of the word of God and not the word of any man! one of the greatest gifts is Discernment of spirits ,you can ask GOD, for this spirit of discernment ,this spirit will let you know if this man is speaking TRUTH or LIES . In this case he is speaking lies ,he doesn't know what he's talking about ! you never compromised with the word of GOD ! that's how you know he is the false preacher or teacher or if he holds any of the five fold ministries!! be blessed.

      For example, Adam and Eve never existed. There was no Garden of Eden.
      It's all allegorical.
      The Garden of Eden is symbolic of the Holy of Holies, the Temple of Solomon, the city of Jerusalem, and Israel as a whole.
      It is God's garden, his vineyard.
      Adam and Eve are symbolic of the kings and queens of Israel, especially, but not limited to, Ahab and Jezebel.
      When they eat from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil it symbolizes the kings and queens of Israel breaking the Covenant of Moses by worshipping Ashteroth and Baal.
      When God puts them out of the garden and they go into the east it symbolizes the kings and queens of Israel going into captivity to Assyria and Babylon.
      This is the truth of God's word; and it was not revealed by a Christian. It was revealed by a Jewish atheist.
      You don't know what you are talking about, and you don't know how to study the word of God or what the word of God actually says.

      The bible contradicts itself all over the place.
      And what I gave you is TRUTH.
      The ONLY way Jesus could justify his claims that he was not only the Christ but that he was also Yahweh incarnate is by understanding that the scriptures were allegorical.
      Paul preaching that Hagar is symbolic of the Law comes from the allegory found within the narrative of Genesis chapter 16, which is symbolic of the Exodus, and I'll bet my last dollar you don't know why.
      God did not give us everything we needed to fully understand the scriptures. A lot of it had to come later through history and archeology, which early Christians did not have.

    It's funny how those of you who demonstrate and/or say hatred towards homosexuals, forget a few things and live in hypocrisy: first of all, Leviticus being split into three parts has no biblical evidence; it's a man's opinion, and also remember that Jesus fulfilled the Law: that means that, since we are Christian, we are to respect it, but we do NOT have to follow it. Secondly, the passage about homosexuals not inheriting is about people who DENY Jesus and reject the Holy Spirit. Thirdly, a self-righteous, condemning attitude is detestable to the Lord -- but of course since you think you're right, it's okay to profess that you know the mind of God. Did everyone forget that we are to love and encourage fellow sinners for growth in Christ?

      1 Corinthians 6:9 is not only proof that there are mistranslations but that there are blatant ones. Paul never stated that homosexuality is any more a sin than heterosexuality. The parts you are refering to were condemning aspects of pagan rituals.

    I spent many years trying to help my church be biblical, e.g. loving of one another and others. Never happened and I could not find one anywhere. If God does not condemn the churches for not being loving I can no longer worry that he will condemn us for not being straight as long as we seek Him in general.

      Hahahh what you fail to see is God has already judged and condemned homosexuality/LGBTQP practice and said to give warning to those who refuse to accept his law...Do you understand what Eph 5;11, and Eze 3:18 mean...God loves all his children but hates the sin in us Rom 3;23, and Rom 6;23 are very clear about that do you not understand what those verses mean...What parts of Gen 2;18, Gen 2;22-24, 1 Cor 11:9 confirmed by Jesus in Matt 19;3-5, Jude 7;10, Lv 18:22 Lv 20:13, Rom 1:25-28, 1 Cor 6:9-11 and Rev 21:8-10 don't you understand, or do you just skip over those verses and declare them "mistranslated".
      People like you speak of love but have no idea of what love is nor of what love did for you, you use the guise of love to spread your hatred of God's loving words of warning against homosexuality/LGBTQP and declare anyone who is trying to pass on the words of God against same-gender as hateful, when the whole time it is you who the hateful ones.
      Stop using the judgment card when someone tells you God's law forbidding same-gender sex to defend yourself you are declaring you can commit that particular sin in the name of God's love which is a LIE and BLASPHEMY.

      I agree. Open mindedness is important to growth in any area. Still yet, I think it should be in everyone's best interest to speak in love. Varying opinions is perfectly acceptable and ultimately inevitable, but condemning others for not having the same beliefs isn't what God would want from anyone: God is love. Varying opinions is perfectly fine as long as people are open minded in reaching their conclusions, and respectfully loving in communicating their conclusions.
      The fact of the matter is, I personally doubt any of us will know what is right in this life. No side will be proven right or wrong, and until then, there are just different opinions. I think if people truly pursue truth wholeheartedly, in the end, they will find it. That isn't just what I wish for Christians or atheists, but everyone.
      Seek truth and spread truth in love. For me personally, that is the best any of us can do.

    I'm really struggling with my faith and how I feel about myself I love God he's the best thing in my life and he's my everything I can't picture myself without my lord and savior I've prayed and fasted and denied myself multiple times I continue to tell myself im baring my cross but it's hard to denie what I feel everyone in my church and family and Christian community talks about it being wrong It's getting to the point where I just hate who I am I don't want to disappoint God I fear the words. " depart from me you doer of iniquity" it really hurts I feel like a evil person I never wanted these feelings but it's there regardless of my actions many people tell me that it's a testimony and a cross God gave me to bare but I wish I could just die already so I wouldn't have to struggle with these feelings it sucks and I hate it

For there are eunuchs who have been so from birth, and there are eunuchs who have been made eunuchs by others, and there are eunuchs who have made themselves eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. Let anyone accept this who can. (Matthew 19:11-12) If we only look at the first category only, Jesus mentions eunuchs who were born that way. In the ancient Jewish culture natural or born eunuchs was associated with people with gay tendencies. Jesus shows no condemnation and very matter-of-factly asserts that some people are simply born that way

      Hey I’m sorry I may disturb but I would like to reply about what you’ve commented. You are Gods child and forever will be, he loves you endlessly, don’t worry about your feelings, literally nobody knows the cause, maybe God did create different types of people, in the Bible it’s not confirmed or confirmed, no one knows, but let me tell you just put faith in him, everything happens for a reason, don’t worry about who you are, just live for him, And I mean LIVE FOR HIM, don’t care about what society says or thinks, you should only care about what God would say or think about you, he’s the only one who knows what’s in you and I mean by heart, I learned that I don’t need a partner to be happy, maybe God could bring me a special someone in the future, maybe not, he has a plan for each and every single one of us, and you know Jesus was a single man, and the world hated him. So just live for your father, be strong, keep reading the Bible, be you, don’t focus on finding what you want like love or lust etc. because what you want doesn’t mean that you need it, and God will only give you what you need at the right time, so keep the faith, live for him, (I know I’ve said that a bunch of times but it’s true) be thankful to him for being alive, don’t ask him for things, because he’s not a genie, he’s your father and he knows what’s best for you and he’ll give it to you when it’s the right time, and God wouldn’t like his child to be sad, be happy, be positive, everything’s going to be ok, and keep talking to him, he’s always listening, don’t focus on what society thinks right now, nobody knows the cause, some say they’re born with it, some say they’ve changed through God (and if that’s what you really want you could ask him) , others say it’s psychological, but really, nobody really knows if it’s good or bad, just God, so just keep the faith and don’t worry about your feelings, just focus on God and be strong, you can do this, ask him for help on your journey, I’m telling you, I’ve never been more happy in my life since I’ve had a relationship with him, he’s the best, just trust in him with everything, he really knows what’s best for you, so keep going!! And btw Jesus is coming soon!!! Don’t give up!!! God bless you!!! Love you champ!!! Look how far you’ve come!!!

      lelijahh Jesus also said he came not to abolish the law, but to fulfill it. It’s a misinterpretation to say that Jesus is “doing away” with the law. What He is saying is that our righteousness and ability to fulfill the perfection of God now comes through the Holy Spirit given to us, not by our own effort to abide by a set of rules. Romans talks about “the law of the Spirit”- is the Spirit that convicts us and gives us motivation to be all that God designed us to be. In the OT God’s spirit left people and only anointed certain people. In the NT He has made everyone be able to access His Spirit. and it is through that same Spirit we have complete deliverance and freedom from sinful desires.

      1. When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord --Lev.1:9. The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?
      2. I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?
      3. I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanness - Lev.15: 19-24. The problem is how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offence.
      4. Lev. 25:44 states that I may indeed possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can't I own Canadians?
      5. I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2. The passage clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself?

      9. I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?
      10. My uncle has a farm. He violates God's law Lev. 19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend).
      He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? (Lev.24:10-16). Couldn't we just burn them to death at a private family affair like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14)
      11. The Bible says stone non-virgins Deut 22, but 99% of heteros today have premarital sex. Adulterers must be executed Lev 20:10 and anyone who lusts is guilty of adultery (per Jesus, who also said kill kids who disrespect parents Matt 15:4). Should we just start killing everyone?
      12. Marriage had nothing to do with love; women were property given by a father to a groom. She was then his property. No laws existed to prevent a man from beating and raping his wives, kids and slaves. In cases of divorce women had no right to visitation or custody since the kids were the man's property. We changed all that.
      So much for God's word being eternal and unchanging.

    GOD PLEASE just tell me is it really really a sin to be homosexual?
    My heart feels trapped trying to keep away the homosexual thoughts because my mom made me break up with my girlfriend because she said it's a sin.
    Why? Why would it be a sin? Is it really? Please don't be a sin I just wanna love who I wanna love!!! My heart feels super trapped!

      Nurse Mikan First remember that you are deeply loved by God and have dignity as a human no matter what. That’s base level truth.
      Second... Romans 1 is pretty clear. I wondered why God talked about idolatry and homosexuality in the same passage. Then He revealed to me: the two are related. What is idolatry? Worshipping something above God. Now, people are starting to base the truth off of their one experience. Their experience and emotions- really, themselves - have become an idol.
      Now we ALL struggle with idolatry so I’m not singling it out. I can’t imagine what you must be going through. My heart hurts deeply for those who are mistreated.
      That all being said, people don’t realize the nature of God’s supernatural power.
      Look up Andrew Womack, he is a great teacher. The Bible is clear that God purchased complete deliverance from sin. People CAN be delivered from the bondage of homosexuality. It’s been dichotomized- either complete rejection of the human, or starting to say it’s not a sin. What if there was a third option: People being set free by the power of the Spirit? Something to think about.

    These comments are so mean and disgusting. I'm a girl and i like girls. I DO NOT chose to like girls, it's something natural for me. I feel like God made me this way.. and i think that we should all love each other. Why does it matter if i like girls? Why does it matter so much? It's not something that i can control, it's not something that i can change. I like girls, but i feel such a powerful connection when i pray. I don't think that God hates me.. i think that he loves us all. If you want to reply please don't be mean in the comments and let's all be nice to each other.       First and foremost the fact that you have a relationship with the Christ and feel a great bond with him matters more than anything else, scriptures can be misconstrued and misunderstood, even the simple things of the word, let alone homosexuality, the fact that you have a peace in your heart and you believe in loving everyone not just those who love you but your enemy as well, is a godly heart, I have seen many heterosexuals fail when it comes to righteousness, and I've seen many a homosexual rise above and fulfill righteousness, The flesh does not sanctify the spirit, the spirit sanctifies flesh, no matter how much you know in the word or believe you understand it, if you have not love you have nothing at all, many would envy your relationship with Christ because they find it hard to even have one, god bless you Princess, and if god does not condemn you for your homosexuality, even if you were to practice it faithfully with a partner, no one can. even if the whole world is against you princess, your home is the kingdom of god, may you dwell in the house of the Lord forever, and may you have what is the most beautiful all the days of your life.

    My friend has recommended me your book. I am really happy that he did because I come from Poland where most people are Catholic too and I had many conflicts and problems with accepting me being gay and after I did and came out to my family I found out that they have even more issues with accepting me because of social contexts. I wish I could read your book 20 years ago or even pass your book to my family members. I cant wait for your book to arrive.

Also, any SEX outside of *marriage* is a sin. So that’s meaning not just two men having sex, but also rape, being/hiring a prostitute, or two people having sex outside of marriage. So really you should read the bible with a bit of a different perspective, because not everything is what it seems ☺️☺️

      Lots of religions don't believe in Hell. Not all religions are in the mold of Christianity. Its kind of a colonial attitude to take the beliefs of conservative Christianity and impose them on all religions
      e.g. Jewish beliefs on the afterlife vary quite a bit and the afterlife is rarely talked about. Its barely mentioned in the Torah and Talmud
      e.g. Buddhists don't believe in any kind of hell (all though they do believe that current life is suffering)

    The Ethiopian eunuch asked a critical question:
    Does anything prohibit me from being baptized?

      Hello. One of the great things about being a child of God is that you are given the power to fight your inner sin. Jesus said "If anyone wants to come after Me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it." A lot of people fail to understand why sin is so bad. The reason sin is so destructive to us is because it blinds us to the beauty of God. Matthew 5:8 says "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God." So what's the reward for being pure and holy? You get to see the face of God! That's the motivator that drives Christians to strive for holiness and sanctification. The reward isn't wealth, health, or earthly prosperity and Christians don't want any of that. Christians want intimacy with the Son of God. Psalm 63:1 says "O God, You are my God; earnestly I seek You; my soul thirsts for You; my flesh faints for You, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water."
      Another important thing to understand is that our brain chemicals are not God. Therefore we can tell them "no". They do not have the final say. But a lot of people mistakenly think that their brain chemistry is God! They wouldn't dare deny themselves or tell themselves no. Sadly, this country is filled with people who bow down to their own brain chemistry. They are enslaved to whatever their brain wants in the moment. They're always thinking in the short term and they never think about the long term consequences. It's this type of attitude that drives the pornography industry, the homosexual campaigns, and the transgender moments. I'm reminded of Judges 21:25 which reads "In those days there was no king in Israel. Everyone did what was right in his own eyes." This is of course ironic because Israel *did* have a King. The LORD was their King but sadly, they did not recognize Him as their King. In Luke 6:46 Jesus said "Why do you call Me Lord and don't do what I say?" It is idolatry to worship our brain chemistry. We are not God and are brains aren't God either. There is only One Creator and heaven is His throne and earth is His footstool. Didn't the LORD clearly say "You shall have no other god's before Me."

    I have some Gay friends in monogamous and loving relationships. They seem good and supportive of God's creation but clearly the Bible in many areas prohibits this behavior. That being said why is the prohibition of homosexuality not one of the commandments? How can love for one another be wrong? One of the two great commandments on which all of the laws are based on tells us to love one another. Of course sexuality is taking love further. It we accept homosexuality is sin then why is it any greater than the sin I commit everyday in my human weakness? It seems to me that Jesus only elevates two sins above others; false prophets and harming children.
    If I accept homosexuality as sin just as I sin when I (again in my human weakness) fail to resist looking lustfully at a woman not my wife should I not accept a Gay couple who love each other but are unable to resist sexual activity?
    If I look at it another way; how can loving, caring, supporting and sexually engaging a person of the same sex be wrong when it supports the good order of life and helps people thrive and be productive and thus supports God's creation be wrong and sinful? I have seen Gay couples take in and nurture special needs and hard to place children. Surely their union and efforts together to care for those children is good and supportive of God's creation.
    I am not in the least bit Gay nor do I feel the need to associate with homosexual couples. The Gay couples I know have simply randomly come into my life and I treat them with the same love and respect I treat all my friends. That being said, should I be part of a church that accepts homosexual parishioners? Yes, obviously, people are in church because they want to worship and glorify God and be fed by the Gospel . Everyone in those pews are sinners like me. But should I be part of a church that ordains or has leaders who are practicing homosexuals. I don't know. Obviously ordained leaders sin every day like me but does having homosexual clergy give approval to that behavior? Then we go back to why isn't homosexuality in the 10 Commandments if it is a sin?
    To me it's an intellectual exercise and doesn't really impact my life except in my decision on which Christian denomination to be part of. I heard Tony Campolo speak one time on this subject and he said when he meets his Creator he would rather confess to the sin of "loving too much rather than loving too little".
    I trust God will lead me where I need to go.

      smol bean The original Greek in Timothy states that “malakoi” or “arsenokoitai” which was later translated to 1 Timothy 1:10 to be homosexuality, actually translates to be male on male sexual violence, rape, pederasty (male on adolescent boy (pedophile)) prostitution and sex with enslaved men. Not homosexuals.
      Same thing for 1 Corinthians 6:9.
      Romans 1:26-27 is seen as a cultural thing not a god thing, it also only says this about lustful relationships between same sex not romantic.
      The rest is in Old Testament so you shouldn’t care about it but I’ll cover it anyways:
      Genesis 19 talks about gang rape not homosexuality, that’s why the city is destroyed.
      Leviticus 18:22 and 20:13 are discarded as Old Testament law as with other things such as eating pork, men having long hair, having sex with women while on their period, and working on the sabbath.
      Here are some verses about judgement, remember all of us will be judged at the gates of heaven, why should we judge others if we will then be judged

      We don’t follow Old Testament:
      So the law was our guardian until Christ came that we might be justified by faith. Now that this faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian. (Galatians 3:24-25)
      The ‘Righteousness of God’ is now manifested apart from the Law. (Romans 3:21)
      the Law brings about wrath. (Romans 4:15)
      We are not under the Law. (Romans 6:14)
      We have been released from the Law. (Romans 7:6)
      the Law is a law of sin and death…not of life. (Romans 8:2)
      the Law is weak. (Romans 8:3)
      the Law is in contrast to grace. (Galatians 2:21)
      the Law is not of faith. (Galatians 3:12)

      Leviticus also says that eating shellfish is an abomination and prohibits a man from cutting the corners of his beard, yet these are widely disregarded by the church

    It is very important to understand that the verses in the Bible that strictly say that man should not lie with man is in Leviticus. Leviticus was written two the Levites. These were basically what you would consider to be the clergyman. Just like people will say tattoos and piercings are forbidden but again that is only in Leviticus for the Levites. Saying you're not supposed to cut your beard and all that wonderful stuff. Again this is only for the Levites

    i just dont get it. I came out of nearly 45 years of very promiscuous homsexuality and I do not understand why men would want to try and justify thier sexual preferences by using Christianity. If you lust after mens bodies just be honest about it dont try and put some religious spin on it when that religion obviously says that it is wrong. Why would a man who wants to engage in homosexual sex want to try and justify it with religion, i just dont get it? It cannot be clearer and i say it as someone who has really plumbed the depths of homosexuality, that the sexual act between 2 men is probably the most unnatural thing 2 men can do and it would be a really weird religion that said it was ok or even promoted it.

      first of all the fact that you are judging someone else's sexual preference is a sin itself, the only person that can judge a person is God. secondly, the bible is based on the basis of love and being kind to one another so i don't understand how being gay goes against that, if there was a scripture in the bible that actually said something about homosexuality and explained why validly then i would agree with you but there is none, all the bible has is different interpretations which everyone perceives differently.

      Well accenting that someone is living in sin isnt loving, also the bible doesn't say judging is a sin. It says Judge lest you be judged. It also teaches us how to judge. Pluck the log out of your own eye so that you can see clearly the cast the beam out of your brother's eye. I'm paraphrasing because I'm writing this on the top of my head. In 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 it says that homosexuals win not inherit the kingdom of heaven.

No one knows for sure what 1 Co 6 is talking about although there are some very good explanations that do not involve castigating a whole group of people who aren't doing anything to hurt anyone.

      The Bible says to be careful how you judge because God will judge you with the same standards you apply to other people. There are times when God tells us we have to recognize sin, warn people about it, and call them to repentance.
      However, the Bible does not say anywhere that all same-sex relationships are wrong. There are some prohibitions and condemnations of specific same-sex acts, just like there are warnings about specific opposite-sex acts, but not a broad, general condemnation of either same- or opposite-sex relationships.

      Being Christian means following the word of God and living by his word and not the word of man. If scripture said it was ok then it would be but God said it was a sin of the flesh, a sexual sin, one that he condemns and we know God hates sin. Be careful of the false Christ and the false prophet because many will arise in the last days, I.e now and will deceive the world and if they can the elect. The word of God is truth, it is life and it is love, Deny the flesh and pursue the love of God. I love everyone as God has called me us to do. But the word of God does not compromise so I will not compromise my conviction which aligns with his word. I pray for those who are afflicted by this curse of Satan and bind such spirits in the heavenly realm that they have no power over the elect of God, over his children his humble servants, that the grace and mercy of God is in those who believe the word of the lord and worship Jesus Christ in the name of Jesus I pray amen.

But many choose to refuse him. Many walk this earth and worship false deities, many mold his word to suit their own needs and wants. Not to mention the devil roams this world and causes chaos, confusion, unrest, distrust, he puts curses on bloodlines, curses on households, and on people, he uses the sins of man so they may stray from God. 1 John 3:8 "8 The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work." Jude 1:4 ESV /
      For certain people have crept in unnoticed who long ago were designated for this condemnation, ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into sensuality and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.

      merp slurp Then this conversation has ended. Not once did I state it was a sin to love, God is love there is no love without God , being able to love us a gift from God. If you call being yourself this then I beg to differ. I was personally afflicted by this sin of confused sexuality, and I felt bound, cursed, I feel sick inside bc I knew it was wrong not because others told me but because the word of God said so. The Holy Spirit in me told me this wasn’t who I really was, and I eventually after years of battling spiritually overcame not by my hand but by the hand of the mighty God I serve, by the blood of Jesus Christ. Many allow the devil to plague their thoughts and shower their minds with deception and false knowledge. The love for man w/ man and woman w/ woman stems from sexual perversions. It comes through sexual means. And my conviction doesn’t come from my “religion”. I believe in a spiritual relationship with Jesus and God. You can choose to ignore these words but the wages of sin is death. A death of the soul too burn in the lake of fire for eternity, do not allow sin to control your life. And read those bible verses instead of just replying to reply because I can tell by your response that’s all you did. Go in peace and the mercy and grace of the lord be over you and guide you into his welcoming arms.

    Jesus never openly discusses homosexuality in the New Testament, but he does address sexual immorality and adultery. My question is... as a gay person, how does one define"sexual immorality" or "adultery" and by what specific standards?

I do not agree with all of Matthews views and arguments, but I love hearing his heart and his approach to speaking with evangelical conservative Christians. This is the approach of ALL apologetics. I love his responses to the questions too- in order to engage someone is a disagreement you have to UNDERSTAND and approach the disagreement from their perspective of beliefs.

      When I see people who profess to be Christian state things like this, I begin to weep because people have been misled -and have gladly allowed themselves to be misled- because they have rejected the veracity of God's Word and have chosen to invent convenient doctrines for themselves.
      Matthew 16:24-26 "24Then Jesus told His disciples, “*If anyone wants to come after Me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me*. 25For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. 26What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?"
      Jesus ordered us to love God FIRST then humans second, implying that God and His Word trump what humans say/think/feel. Please, please, PLEASE start to read your Bible: your eternal salvation literally depends on you staying on the narrow path of righteousness.
      Matthew 22:37-38 "37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[a] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’"

    Debate James White! Debate James White! Debate James White! If for no other reason, to show how we are, as you put it vitriolic. I think you know he would just completely destroy the arguments you bring up, so you do not face him. I am with Tony Armour, If Vines has a solid argument, then debate James White. One good thing Vines says is to dilligently study the Scriptures. I wholeheartily agree that as Christians we are not able to defend ourselves against the mangling of Scripture that Vines has done because we ourselves are not studying the Word of God able to give the answer people need to hear. Also Mr. Vines, it seems pretty vitriolic for a man not to be worth your time. If I was wanting to convince someone that homosexuality was not a sin, and judging homosexuals was indeed a sin, then James White should be the very man to debate because he is in danger of God's wrath. You and the issue I know are worth James White's time, which seems more loving if he is trying to save your soul from God's wrath. Repent Mr. Vines. God will judge homosexuality, and all the other sins you commit on earth if you continue living in sin. Trust in Jesus to give you new desires. If you cannot live as a married man, then live as a celibite (sorry if the spelling is wrong.) Live as a man willing to live life doing the right thing. God is not concerned so much with our happiness as he is with our holiness. Just because I have a temptation toward a certain thing does not mean God wants me to live in that certain thing. You were born gay. I was born to disobey my parents. I was disciplined to obey them. Discipline yourself toward godliness. I do not pretend that dealing with homosexuality is easy. However, I know that the Scriptures clearly condemn it, and so we do not base our theology on our experience but the Bible. We disagree Mr. Vines, but I and Dr. James White love you too much not to tell you the truth. Repent of your sin, trust in the Lord Jesus Christ that He will help you overcome your sin... and Debate James White!

Just because James White is against homosexuality does not mean he is, as you put it a "homophobe." A homophobe (though not even really a word) implies that one is afraid of homosexuals, which James White is not. He is also not a homosexual hater. Even pro-homosexual people who interviewed him on the Dr. Drew show recognized that. Dr. White believes that homosexuality is a sin. No more, no less.
      I do not know all of the other people you are refering too, but I will tackle the few I do know about. Before I do so, I would like to mention that these are irrelivant to wether homosexuality is a sin or not. The Bible is very clear that it is a sin. (nazareneally.com/2013/03/28/well-suited/) These other issues you have brought up are not pertaining to the main issue.
      However, in the instances I am aware of, let us takle those. Josh Duggar when he was 14 did disgusting and detestable things to his sisters and other girls. He also confessed to it, repented of it, was taken to the police to be charged for it, and has not done it since. If a Christian repents of their sins God is faithful and just to forgive them of their sins and cleanse from all unrighteousness. If Josh was still a pedophile today, then he should be judged and condemned. Since he is not, but is forgiven, yes, as Christians we forgive him to. That's what we do. We do not encourage his sin, we do not make light of his sin, but we do forgive him.
      I do not know all of the Graham story, but no one in the church community condones adultary. If that is in fact what he has done, he should submit himself to church discipline, and should have his credentials for being a minister taken away, plain and simple. He is not qualified to be a minister at that point.
      I do not know about the rest, but again, they are not the main issue. The main issue is this; is what Matthew Vines teaching true? Is homosexuality biblically acceptable? The Bible's answer is no, therfore, my answer is no. Let's just say for the sake of argument David and Jonathan had an inappropriate affection for each other. They were both under the Law of Moses, they both knew the Law of Moses, and they honored it more than their affection for each other. They therefore viewed God and His law more highly than themselves. I however do not believe that is what the text is showing because of how negatively the rest of the Bible talks about homosexuality. Even Matthew Vines says that the Bible talks of homosexuality in a negative light.
      Matthew 7:12 "So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also for them for this is the Law and the Prophets." This verse talks about all the good we want done for us, do that for others. This is not saying, "If you want to have whatever you want, let everyone else whatever they want." We have one truth. God's truth. If you cannot accept the truth of Scripture, you have that right. God gives you the right of choice. But the wrong choice has severe consequences, which is why people like James White will stand and say homsexuality is a sin speak out because he does not want them to face the wrath of God, which is loving. If you are in a car that will not start, and a man bashes the windows to drag you out of a car, that sounds violent and unloving. But if you found out that the man dragged you out of a car because there was an oncoming train, you would be thankful to the man. James White is merely breaking glass, trying to get you out of the car of your sin before the train of God's wrath destroys you.
      Please, in your arguements, refrain from name calling. It is unprofessional, and lessens your credibility. Thanks for your response.

Again, I do not think name calling in this debate is very constructive, but clear articulate points. If I were to call people who diagreed with me heterophobes, they would (1) rightly tell me it is not a word, but a name I created as a label for people who disagree with me, and (2) discredit any real arguments I may have had. You may have some good points, but you can not articulate them without throwing out belittling names to those who disagree with you. KKKristians I know for fact is not a word, but only a name that was created to label people you disagree with. If we are going by the definition of homophobe from the Merriam-Webster dictionary, I am not one. As I have said before, I do not hate homosexuals. They are people who deserve the Church's compassion and help. I hate homosexuality because God hates homosexuality. I want homosexuals to come to know and love Christ and follow Him.       Simon Botte David and Jonathan were not romantic. As the text says, Jonathan was like a brother to David. His love for him, more wonderful than that of women could have been more wonderful than the love of his mother or sisters or even his wife(ves). David was not exactly the role model on relationships. This verse is describing how he felt. He loved Jonathan as a brother, not a spouse. He is making a comparison, not a statement on his own sexuality. Seeing as how David married women and not Jonathan, it is safe to say that David nor Jonathan were gay.

      The Bible also says, judge lest not ye be judged. So, how do you say this without being judge mental yourself by just saying that? I know your statement did not come from a loving point of view. I know that statement won’t change anyone’s mind but it will cause them to dislike Christians. How do we say this without judgement and coming from a loving point of view? We are so attacked as Christians and this comment is one of the reasons people such as myself are wrongfully judged. Also, my daughters nephew on her fathers side is five years old. His parents are not gay and he has not been spending time around gay people. If you try and change them you make them feel that there is something wrong with them and if you believe in God, you would also believe that God made them this way and they were made perfect in God’s image. Don’t get me wrong...I agree homosexuality is a sin from a biblical stand point but I don’t really know what to make of this 😢. I do totally believe my daughter and that this happened. Also, to the man in this video, thank you because this is cultural and yes there is nothing wrong with long hair on a man. Our culture is changing. Truly, I believe it’s all about love, but then again, at one time it was culturally correct (Roman Times for example), to have sex with children and this is wrong and we all believe that is wrong (one would hope).     i attended an lgbt church service to find out for myself the spirit present. the people were lovely and treated me with more warmth than a lot of other churches i have visited in my 27 years as a christian. but despite the warmth and despite the friendliness, all worship songs focusing on sin had been removed from the song book, they changed the Lord's Prayer so as to NOT say out loud forgive us our trespasses. my conclusion from the night was a meeting of lovely people made in God's image but a meeting devoid of the Holy Spirit and a meeting intentionally devoid of any kind of personal accountability before God. there was much more i could write but i think this says enough

    We must remember... we all sin. ALL OF US. And even if you do not agree... well.... it's not our place to judge.... leave that to GOD. Judging... is a sin in itself. Be kind and love your neighbor... even if you do not agree with their lifestyle. No Jesus and God loving person should be slandering someone and making them feel awful... pretty sure Jesus would not act in such a way. You don't have to agree but you also don't have to be cruel.

      judging someone based on actions is not a sin! Matthew 7:1, the context (verses 1-5) allows judging after you have first judged YOURSELF. Jesus did not make a blanket statement against judgment. He simply pointed out a RULE for judging.

      The Bible says we should judge people according to their actions, not their motives. So whenever I hear someone say “It is not your place to judge me, leave that to God”, I get really confused. Because the Bible tells us to hold our brethren accountable and not let them be led astray.
      In other words, if you see your friend sinning, do not turn a blind eye. You should address it with them, hold them accountable of their wrongdoings, and correct them. But you should not do it out of spite, you should do it out of love. And if they choose to listen or not, that’s fine. At least you tried to correct them.
      But in today’s world, people do not like correction. They label it as being judgy, or being a bigot, or being discriminatory. The Word of God is considered discriminatory in today’s world, how sad is that? Sooner or late people will start calling it hate speech. I can’t wait for Christ to return.
      Anyway, the Bible condemns homosexuality and says it is an abomination onto God. That is taken STRAIGHT from Scripture, so disagree with me all you want, but that wi not change the fact that it is true. Just because you don’t agree with something, doesn’t mean it isn’t true. If you disagree with the truth, then you are living a lie. People need to realize this, and they need to soon.

    I wonder how well Mr. Vine's knows James White? He incorrectly categorized him as a Southern Baptist, yet Mr. White has not been a part of that organization for many years (more than a decade for sure, and perhaps more than 2 decades); Mr. White is actually disliked by many Southern Baptists, including some in leadership positions, because of other theological positions he affirms and his criticism of some ministers and leaders in the SBC.

      that's because it's his field of expertise. Vines doesn't have that kind of scholarship, nor does he view scripture as highly as White does. He probably doesn't have an epistemology based on God's revelation, like White does. These vital theological differences lead to big differences when handling this topic.
      It's so important that people go back to the theology, because at the end of the day, this presentation is ridiculous if you regard the bible highly. It would be funny if it wasn't deceiving so many people.

    Last time I checked these rules in the Old Testament applied to the Israelites and I know that most of us are not descendents of Israelites. Read the story of Babel. You will see that God scattered the people across the world and the Israelites only took up a percentage the worlds populous. And today descendents of the Israelites still make up a small percentage of todays world populous. In the New Testament, Jesus does not mention about those laws. Actually he does and those are only the Ten Commandments which say nothing about how being gay is a sin. Now you can be sexualy imoral being gay as you can being straight. Being gay has nothing to do with someones ability to claim Jesus as the one who died for our sins. Nothing at all. And unless you ask for forgiveness every second of your life expept for eating, drinking, and sleeping, you cannot speak if you think being gay is a sin. You sin as much as a gay person. You really do. No more and no less.

    These people are really confused people. When God saw Adam was lonely He could have easily made another man to keep him company but instead He took his time to create the woman. Whenever the bible talks about marriage its about the marriage between a man and a woman. They can make out what they think is marriage for themselves (man man, woman woman, man animal, woman animal, man tree, woman tree). The bible has been clear marriage is between a man and a woman nothing more nothing less.

      Uh.... I see the little beastiality reference there. First off, making love to an animal is sick, animals can’t consent, marrying a tree is ridiculous, and with what you’re saying is that if a man is lonely and craves a romantic relationship ( which is the strongest need as a human), if they can’t be with a woman, God wants them to be lonely forever?

You can paint the sky purple all you want but at the end of the day it's still blue whether you like it or not.

It’s one thing if god wants to punish us for not following his rules but it’s another thing if he wants to “burn” his children for eternity. That’s basically an artist throwing his projects away.       ***** Wow! Please explain how porn, multiple partners, casual sex are biblical. Explain how Christ supports the "wholesome" act of Sodomy from Scripture. And please debate James White. If you have any passion for this position, you would debate someone who is passionately against it. Not doing so only shows how weak your position is.
