this was the coolest most exciting shoe review i’ve ever seen!! 🤩🤩🤩
Glad you think so!
Loved your FUN, comprehensive review with great camera work, editing and music mix - well done!
Thank you! Hope it helped you make your choice :)
Super fun review. Looks like you had a great time out!
Ha ha it was apart from the tumble lol! ;)
Your test is quite enjoyable to watch. Thanks!
Fab! Glad you enjoyed this test!
I still run with my Speedcross 4 and Speedcross 5... they are still in great shape even after several years!
Awesome, they are great shoes aren't they :)
I have a pair of 5s. My first experience with Salomon. They're great for where I run. Lot's of roots and rocks and very mixed terrain. If it's not winter though there's no need for such an aggressive tread pattern. My first long run in them was actually 10.5 miles mostly on the road. Not ideal but my feet felt good still. I think I'll seek another pair.
They are defo great all rounders for sure :)
im thinking of buying a pair of 5’s. Would you say they’re a good choice for someone who runs on trails and on the road? I’d say i run at about a 50/50 split.
@@neonghost7333 No. They are definitely not good on the road. I've done it but something like Saucony Excursion TRs or Asics gt 2000s are the way to go for one running from roads to trail.
I've been on a muddy field with the speedcross 4 while carrying sacks of assorted veggies. The shoes cleaned nicely with just running water afterwards.
Tips:
If you buy a black pair, shine it good for a semi formal attire.
Do not use heat to dry them.
Good tips K, glad to hear they are also good for carrying veg and semi formal wear! :)
@@wildgingerruns coming to Speedcross 6 from the Speedcross 5, the elevated heel of the 6 was more noticeable. Also they were giving a feeling of almost going to get undone, that I reduced some, with a really good tug of the laces to the point of uncomfort. And then after 50 Km the feeling went away and the tightness became more comfortable.
Ive used my alphacross shoes for 3 years now through hiking walking my dog and used them for about 4 months in construction when I worked with my dad they did spectacular so run tight but after a couple wears your feet stretch the shoe. They are a bit robust so I am definitely thinking about replacing them with the speed cross 6s.
Sounds grand!
I haven't worn an earlier shoe but definitely going with a 6 to start!💪🏽🙌
Let us know how you get on with it!
Hope the uppers are better than before, my last 4s did 65 miles before showing wear at the toe bend ! And my 2s before that finally gave way on the uppers. Lovely shoes, very comfortable, great grip, but poor uppers
Oh yikes that is poor Ian, did you take them back to the shop? Maybe that's a fault and you could get a new pair. These don't look like there are any wear points yet...
@@wildgingerruns thanks Claire, yes I did got my money back and bought peregrine 10s 😊 speedcross great shoes otherwise, so comfortable 😊
Fantastic review and breakdown of details.
Thanks for the great comment, glad you liked this review :)
@@wildgingerruns it really was fantastic. Such a brilliant way to review shoes in particular updates or changes!
@@hoser7706 Cool! We'll have to do this again! It's handy that we're both the same size!
Great comparison. Thanks!
No problem!
Wonderful video. Thanks so much!
You are so welcome!
500 grams? holy cow half a kilo one? damn that's a heavy shoe, is it made of metal? anyway, do they make these with and without GTX ? or they're all GTX?
Great reviews. How responsive is the midsole? 6 is better then.
The 6 is 3mm thinner so definitely more responsive, I was surprised at how much difference that 3mm made! You can feel the ground a lot more beneath the foot in the 6, but not so much that it hurts or isn't a protective shoe. Hope that helps, Claire
Hi Clair, great review. How would you compare these shoes to shoes like Saucony peregrine which are a 4mm h-t. Especially for someone who is use to running in low drop shoes?
Hey Peter, great question, I have both, the Saucony Peregrine 12's are significantly lighter, more flexible, less supportive, grip is very similar, drop is lower and definitely feels different in that regard. Toe box on the Saucony seems a bit wider too. If you like lower drop I wouldn't go for the 10mm drop Speedcross. Hope that helps!
Yes these are better than Slab 3 that red at night reflecting
Oh defo, agreed
Are the Speedcross 6 true to size? 🤩
Yes I would say so, I use a 6.5 in all my trail running shoes that I test and this one was very well fitting. Hope that helps. Claire
What should I choose for hiking speedcross 5 or speedcross 6?
I would use the 5's for hiking as they seem more robust, hope that helps! Claire
Ran in the 4 and the 5, till they fell apart after about 900km of trailabuse😂. Grippiest shoe i’ve ever worn.
Awesome, yes they are great for grip aren't they :)
I’ve still got the second edition of these shoes. 😏😏
good test of longevity!
Nice! I still have the 3's totally worn down to slicks, I use them for decorating!
Hi dear, do you suggest 6 for hiking?
Hmm I think I would actually suggest the 5's for hiking as they are heavier, more durable and seem more robust and stiffer in general just like more of a hiking shoe would be. Hope that helps!
@@wildgingerruns thanks 🥰
Did the water seep through easily?
No there was a bit of water resistance in both, more in the older model
Very fun run!!
Lol until I hit the deck ha ha ha! Hope you're ok from your fall too!
😆
