    Thanks for a great review. After running a month in my new Thundercross (size 13 1/2), I'm so satsified with them. Compared to my old speed cross it's a big difference afterward there I feel no pain in my feet at all as I did with the Speed cross. I really like the wide toe box and the quiklace. Run mostly trails and sometimes muddy enviroment and they worksvery well. Just noticed that they can wear down quickly om hard surfaces lika asphalt.

      Thanks for the feedback! I agree with you, I am very happy with them also. I need to take them out for a longer 15-20 mile run to see how is it for longer period, but I think they will be great.
      Yes, the soft rubber lugs will wear out fast if you run on the road with them, since they were not made for that. I would avoid running too much om the road and use it more on the trails.

    Thanks for the detailed review along with sharing your experience. 👌🏼
    I live in Southern Canada (Montréal City, which on average gets more than 10 ft of snow between end Oct. and mid-April, yet gets tropical-like weather during summer) and just bought a pair impulsively during boxing day deals... But i wasn't quite sure about keeping them, or rather just buying another pair of Speedcross.
    3 of my Speedcross3 shoes that i bought a few years back, and that i only use in winter when not using my spiked Snowcross (i hate wearing boots for either running, walking or cycling!), are rapidly getting worn out.
    You've convinced me to keep this pair i haven't worn yet. And if i end up liking them even more than i'm now anticipating, i'll probably buy a 2nd pair during the colder part of winter (mid-Jan. to mid-Feb.)
    Lucky you to get to run in such a warm clime, enjoy Hawaii!

      I think the ThunderCross has a GTX version which would work better with snow. I don’t run much in snow here in Hawaii :)), instead a lot of mud and rain which is this shoes is perfect for.
      Well, if you wver visit Hawaii let me know, I can take you for a fun run! Enjoy winter out there and Happy Holidays!

    Thank you for this review - informative, simple and precise! I have had Salomon Thundercross GTX only for 3 weeks, but a time enough to share my impression: with its low-drop and 31/27 mm stack it feels like a superb tuned choice for me; the midsole is protective and it is cushioned enough for my taste; the outsole provides loads of dependable grip; with the quick lacing system I felt locked in all the way from the heel through to the forefoot - stable, protected, and comfortable along the way. I'm not quite sure for the durability but it will take some time to find out- not so long, because, besides running- I walk quite a lot every day - on different surfaces. 🙂

      Thank you for your feedback Juliana! I am happy you enjoy wearing them. I ran about 300 miles in already (almost 500km) and it still looks pretty good, of course the lugs look worned but still enough for another 50 miles I think. No damage on the shoe, so I think it very durable. The grip have trouble grabbing wet surfaces in my experience. Great in mud, but if there is wet, packed trail it slips here and there, but nothing major.

    Nice review, thanks! I love them after a 10 K trail and gravel run. I like the spaciousness for the toes, and they feel very side stable, grippy and agile in technical rocky trails. However, running steep downhill, the soft overshoe doesn’t hold the foot wrist back well enough for a forefoot runner, so the toes gets some beating.
    I tried locking the quick lace tight, but it just felt more uncomfortable without having much effect. Maybe a higher insole could make me fill out the shoe more, to attain better overshoe support…?

    • @HungaroExplorer
      @HungaroExplorer 3 місяці тому +1

      Thanks for the feedback Martin. I have the same problem running steep downhill. I didn’t find a shoe yet which perfect on downhills. I always get some toe “push” but not too bad. Yeah, if you tight too much the quicklace it feels uncomfortable. I use custom GreenFeet insoles for high arches and that helps me fit the shoe better too.
      But For me the La Sportiva Akasha 2 felt the best on locking my feet.

    Hi I usually wear shoes number 44 usually which passes with my orthopedic soles. But Salomon are shorts on my finger (finger touch too much and downhill worse) and with the new orthopedic soles I have I cannot even fit them in. checking the website Salomon has 44 2/3 or 45 1/3. if I should try to take a bigger size hoping they fit with my orthopedic soles but hoping they are nor too big so then the heel will move. which one do you think should I get? I have a 130 euro voucher but I must for sure use it on line so I cannot try the shoes before. I have a pair of Wings Flyte 2 GTX which are light great to walk, run and hike fast but they are (44) too short and feel small on the fingers. do you have a model to suggest? and which size u think? thank you

      @HungaroExplorer Місяць тому

      That is a hard question…I have custom insoles made for running and I don’t have to change sizes because of them.
      You can try the 44 2/3, the 45 1/3 might be way too big.
      I would order but make sure you can return it if the size doesn’t work

    Also would u size up or stay to ur usual size? I usually wear 10.5 but wondering if I shud go up to 11. Please advise

    • @HungaroExplorer
      @HungaroExplorer 9 місяців тому +2

      Yes, I would recommend the ThunderCross over SpeedCross. It offers a more comfortable running experience in my opinion, the midsole is more cushy and having a 4mm drop instead of a 10mm drop it’s great! Now I don’t feel like I am walking on high heels :)
      I wear size 9 on all my Salomon shoes. I wear the same size on ThunderCross and fits perfect, at least for me. Hope this helps!

      @@HungaroExplorer that’s awesome man… thank you for your reply. Do u feel that it’s a little bit bigger on the toe box and overall it’s just more roomy? So better to just get ur true size? I feel if I size up it’s gonna be a bit too big
      Also just a quick one u also wear 9 for all ur other regular shoes? Or just 9 for Salomons which is bigger than ur other shoes? The reason I ask is because I ordered the Salomon cross hike 2 shoe and they fit better with 11 but for other shoes I wear a 10.5 so wondering if I shud follow my Salomon size or just go with my regular 10.5. Thanks again in advance

      @MikeyMoran I think if you size up might be a bit too big. The toebox is roomier yes. I wear most of my shoes 9, but I used to wear 8.5. Living in Hawaii made me feet a bit bigger I guess :))
      La Sportiva I need half a size bigger, but other shoes in general 9

    hello everyone. new subscriber here. Just interested to know how is this compare with Hoka Tecton 2?

    • @HungaroExplorer
      @HungaroExplorer 5 місяців тому

      Thank you for subscribing! Hoka Tecton x2 and the ThunderCross quite different.
      First of all the price difference is huge, the Tecton x2 being pretty high priced, but when a company puts a carbon plate in their shoes, that’s expected.
      The ThubderCross has deeper lugs, better for wet, muddy conditions. The Tecton x2 has an all terrain sole, so it might be more versatile. It really depends what shoe fits you better and if you want to spend over $200 for a trail shoe or not.
      I hope this helps

      With orthopedics it is hard to estimate your shoe size, you should get. I have special insoles for high arches for runing but they fit in my shoe with no problem.
      If you buy more than a size biggger than your actual size, even with orthopedics can be big. I would go half size bigger maybe so the 44 2/3, but you can’t be sure. Make sure you can return the shoe before you buy it just in case
