I heard a definition of "what is a cult" shortly before I had myself excommunicated from the LDS church; A cult is any belief system that says "You MUST belong to OUR CHURCH in order to be saved." That woke me up to the fact that the Mormon church FEELS like a cult.
The Gospel for Mormons The incredible message of the Gospel in the Bible-one that many Mormons seem unfamiliar with-is that Jesus Christ fulfilled the law and righteousness on our behalf. Salvation is not earned through endless works, rituals, or ordinances but is given as a free gift to those who believe in Him. Christ’s finished work on the cross is sufficient. He ended the need for temple worship and outward rituals, introducing the New Covenant where we worship in spirit and truth. The Bible, especially the book of Romans, emphasizes that we are saved by faith in Christ’s perfect righteousness, not by our own works. This brings true peace, rest, and assurance of salvation, as it depends on Christ’s finished work-not on our own flawed performance. Mormonism teaches a works-based system of earning God’s favor, striving for self-exaltation, and climbing an endless ladder to reach God. But the true Gospel sets us free: we are forgiven and sealed forever through faith in Christ alone. This is the message that saves and transforms lives.
Pray for people who follow Saul (Paul) not Jesus. Matthew 7:21 Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of My Father in heaven.
I love the ladder & rope illustration! I heard a while back that Mormons & Christians often talk around each other because of their understanding and definitions of terms. It's actually really difficult to get through those sometimes, especially when some tend to gish gallop. But the Mormon Jesus putting down a ladder the LDS HAS to step up... Vs... a Christian Jesus throwing down a rope that He HAS to tie around us, is one of the best word pictures I've ever come across. Aaand this is why I love Mr. Wallace 🥰 I'm so excited to get my kids back to homeschooling, cause I really want to dig into your education resources ❤🙏
Who do you say I am? This question was important to Jesus and still is. This conversation is an area where correct theology is critical to where we spend eternity. LDS teachings on the nature of God, nature of angels, and nature of man are very different than sound biblical doctrine. Those who follow LDS teachings are in danger of being told by Jesus that He never knew them because they do not worship the God of the Bible. Matthew 7:23.
Back when I was mormon, I was struggling with why Jesus had to die. Because mormons believe they were saved by doing good works. When i was a child, I didn't question anything. As an adult, I couldn't make the logical connection, and I was told that it was like Jesus cleaned the water so we could wash ourselves. Think about that... that's an entirely different gospel.
I believe it is important to remember that Jesus "took on" human flesh. That would mean that he didn't have it to start with, correct? Jesus was and is always God. There was never a point in time that He never existed. Men always have a starting point...God does not. Hope this helps.
You must have the right Jesus and the right gospel. 2 Corinthians 11:3-4 (ESV): “But I am afraid that as the serpent deceived Eve by his cunning, your thoughts will be led astray from a sincere and pure devotion to Christ. For if someone comes and proclaims another Jesus than the one we proclaimed, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or if you accept a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it readily enough.” Galatians 1:6-9 (ESV): “I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel-not that there is another one, but there are some who trouble you and want to distort the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed.”
No, the guy in red is wrong. Christians do not believe that Jesus was divine and later exalted into godhood. Jesus was always God from eternity. He probably just mis spoke but what he said was wrong.
I think what he actually said was Christians belive Jesus is divine, not human who later exalted into godhood. There is a pause there that separates the 2 statements. The divine statement is separate from the human who exalted statement

Mormonism is not just a cult, it is a 100% fake, con artist, man, Godless abomination!
The catholic church says the same. They believe that those of us who are not catholic are going to hell. They claim they're the only Christians!

Pray for mormons, JWs, muslims, buddhists, atheisst etc. They need Jesus. Jesus is the only way.
Pray for people who follow Saul (Paul) not Jesus. Matthew 7:21 Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of My Father in heaven.
So good to have clear teaching in this murky world of differing definitions.

CORRECTO. Good conversation guys. Jesus is who He said He is, not who some random cult leader said He is.
Amazing. Thanks Mr Wallace

Very important to understand what it is you say you believe, and why it is you believe that. (Be able to explain it)
Great topic guys, well done.
Jesus is my savior 🙏
BLESSINGS
outstanding
What about Jesus is God in human flesh??
Yes, that's the Incarnation! 😊
I believe it is important to remember that Jesus "took on" human flesh. That would mean that he didn't have it to start with, correct? Jesus was and is always God. There was never a point in time that He never existed. Men always have a starting point...God does not. Hope this helps.
Finally someone is saying it.
WOW! No words!
Former LdS here! Now evangelical Christian. Great conversation about the deferent definition between Christian and Mormon
Jesus is your Savior, or not. That is the whole point of the Bible.
You must have the right Jesus and the right gospel.

@@jessehernandez8616 this guy gets it
So why do we have any agency in the first place if we all go to heaven?
Amen!
No, the guy in red is wrong. Christians do not believe that Jesus was divine and later exalted into godhood. Jesus was always God from eternity. He probably just mis spoke but what he said was wrong.
He was describing what Mormons believe about Jesus. Not what Christians believe about Jesus.
Psyliam head, He is saying that Mormons not Christian's believe that.

What is your salvation theology
