      Problem is no one is going to pay to stream just one album on an individuals website. What are you going to do charge an individual $1 a month for individual stream of your catalog, when that person can for pay $10 to Apple to stream thousands of albums and access to 90% of the worlds content. While I appreciate artists trying to get what they deserve. This doesn’t work on scale.

      Facts, they pay Drake for your streams even if the listener doesn't listen to Drake and then they pay people like Joe Rogan $250,000,000. I earn nothing from my streams because I only have a small following currently. This model isn't sustainable for artists.

    Here's the bottom line. I think we as artist need to be proactive about how our music is consumed and how to monetise. We do not own Spotify, apple, instagram or any of these place. We rent, they charge and landlords will always be landlords. At the end of the day, all these social platforms and streaming platforms are simply town squares where we can meet people. One thing we can do is have our own space, make it ready and bring people there. And our space has to offer more than is available in the town square.

    • @johncombo
      @johncombo 6 місяців тому

      @@secretarchivesofthevatican Not necessarily. The most important factor is the payout model. All platforms except Soundcloud currently use model "Pro Rata" which incentivizes artists to use bots for fake plays to get more revenue and streaming platforms and distributors to scam the small artists. If the platform uses "user centric" model, there is no incentive for anyone to try something because the way money are distributed is very clear and transparent and there is no way around it.

All they do is feed us bullshit about doing it only for love, not the money meanwhile they sit back and take what we rightfully deserve. Every year or two since Spotify launched in 2008 the pay-per-stream rate has gone down (From about $0.008 in 2008 to about $0.003 in 2023). Despite Creators pleading for an increase in the pay-per-stream rate, Spotify has simply ignored Creators, claiming they (Spotify) are losing money. Now we are heading into 2024 and not only are Creators NOT getting a rate rise, but on the contrary, Spotify is telling 80% of the Creators on their platform.....WE ARE NOT GOING TO PAY YOU ANYTHING!!! Yes, 80% of Creators on Spotify do less than 50 streams per month. Just imagine if a Distributor were ever to tell Creators "If you sell less than 1000 vinyl records, CDs or digital downloads, WE ARE NOT GOING TO PAY YOU!!!!

    Youre spot on about a lot of this, although your perception is that music has that much value these days. I feel that music is nothing more than a business card. IT's a shame because artist spend a lot of money on producing the song, artwork, marketing and all that goes into it. I feel that If you really want to make money from your music, you should merchandise it. Put on your own hosted site and maybe include artwork or some type of merch like the old days of cd's. Make mini movies/videos for your songs that you dont post anywhere. It would be only a matter of time before it ends up online by some schmoe anyway.
    To take your music off of the most popular streaming service is also removing your business cards. You could also put more important tracks on your OWN hosted site. Remember that all of these services are no different than a record label that bleeds the artist dry

      I used to get in a panic when streaming amounts shifted or changed as they have done since Pandora was released. I would hope others don't go in a panic and pull their catalog of potential because their song didn't make $5 in that year which is roughly 1000 streams, without a well stated alternative. Not all fans are the same, the trick is to not chase after the ones who are indifferent, and to focus your energies on market research to find the ones who will go out of their way to follow you, or who will at least meet you halfway.

    I took music down for a year and a half maybe two years... just this year I only put back up the music what i had out before since I felt I didn't want to be an "Indian giver" to my fans, and it was too time consuming figuring out how to track splits and payment with other producers on music I already released. Ive had my website for over a decade and will always have my own. Using my site to release music.

    I'm completely down with removing music from Spotify. That being said, I get why they had that 1000 stream threshold to try and deter bot accounts and quantity over quality, and to give themselves some time to find fake/illegal uploads before people profit off doing something illegal. The main thing to be outraged about is how godawful the payouts are, and how the whole thing is just a money pit to build clout, and only above some arbitrary threshold does it build you an audience - and also, the nature of Spotify & playlisting celebrates mediocrity and sameness for the most part. Its very hard to be really really unique and to succeed on any streaming service, so its bad for the evolution of art.

    Well I still would keep my music in the name of reach and exposure.
    One positive I have got from this is the flexibility in which I can get new music and also post mine. Well there unfortunate part where there is money they cab never be what we call fairness. Focus will be gigs from that exposure. Things when we move more into the business ethics fans suffer in terms of reach and not all are going to follow. As much as I love the art but it not a human need. Till we have full control of this but as long we put a price on it. We gonna end up like our enemy.

Owners/CEOs of businesses is not investing money in their businesses to give away free products are they.

    If they can’t delete you profile they may be in breach of GDPR compliance. See here: Data subject access requests force organizations to know where collected data is at all times, what information is being collected, how it's being used by whom, and when it's being accessed.
    If the consumer finds an error, the organization must correct it (called "rectification"). If the customer opts to invoke their "right to be forgotten," the company must erase their data (called "erasure"). If the consumer doesn't like how their personal data is being collected and used, they can object. If your country does not comply with GDPR then they may comply with CCPA in which you can still ask for deletion of your information in the US.
    If I were asking for such a request I would do it in writing either by email or by mail or both. They have 10 days to respond to receipt of request under CCPA and 45 calendar days to respond to the request with deletion.
