The shark was found dead on the seabed, it had previously been tampered with by a different group of divers earlier in the day. The divers in the video respectfully removed the body and brought the animal back to the harbour, contacting the University of Alicante for the purpose of performing an autopsy to confirm cause of death and further research. Thresher sharks are usually a deep water species and this one was found in approximately 10 metres which raised concern it had been hit by a boat or had suffered some other injury or disease. Sharks are amazing creatures and vital to the underwater ecosystem of the Mediterranean.
