Yes a worthy upgrade. I went from the Tactix Delta Solar to Fenix 7X to Tactix 7 Pro and finally landed at Enduro 2 which is the one I ultimately kept and sold the rest. It was a tough decision between the Tactix and Enduro but the bigger battery and brighter flashlight sold me!
That's an interesting progression. I'm using the Instinct 2x Solar Tactical. For simplcity and battery life, it's amazing, but I am considering an upgrade. The Enduro 2 is high on the list. Garmin have so many models, that it's quite difficult to choose. I still haven't fully decided over the solar v Amoled models such as Epix or Tactix Amoled.
I agree, the touch screen on the watch makes all the difference when it comes to maps. I use the Fenix 6 which doesn't have it, and it takes tens of button presses to pan and zoom where you want to be on the map. If I were to get a different watch right now, it'd be the fenix 7 or 7x, which are super solid and have the touch screen. You can get the solar ring, sapphire glass, and 90% of the tactix software features for about half the price. For those of your viewers who can't cash in a military discount ;)
Nice review. I have a Delta Solar that I had to return due to a battery issue. Garmin was on point, out of warranty, sent me new watch. I bought the Delta knowing they were going to release a new watch soon, but I didn't think they'd up the game this hard. I already ordered a 7 and your review makes me feel better about that.
Before I watch this video, let me just tell myself something important: " Dont sell your tactix Delta, you are very happy with your tactix watch. You appreciate your watch. It has been a worthy companion. Ok, im ready.
I haven't used them but I do have coworkers that do. I think overall they are great aswell. If you're willing the sacrifice the color display and touchscreen it does pretty much the same as the Tactix series. I really like the New instinct crossover coming out. I may test it out sometime!
Amazing video man!!! I have already subscribed to your channel because your videos are truly informative and professional!! It's truly incredible to get a military man's perspective on something! What do you think of the new Tactix 7 AMOLED? Do you think it's worth it? Or is the tactix 7 pro is better? Cheers from Japan !!!
You should start doing some fieldcraft videos or camping/ruck/larping videos, I really enjoy seeing your gear dumps and kits, maybe you could do some videos using that stuff in action? Showing your garmin in real world scenarios and showing some land navigation? Or even just hearing you talk about your opinions on stuff. You have unique content I think you should keep cranking out the goods👍 Or even do all that on your patreon I would for sure pay for that type of content
Hi, sometimes when i walk, steps not counting properly, f.e. If my hand in the pocket and i walk 1 or 2 miles, on the watch i see only little steps counted. Is it some gps problems?
Great equipment. Tell me, did you put a protective film on the display? You say that you have been using it for quite a long time, hence my question whether it makes sense to stick a protective glass on the display.
You can't turn off MIP (memory in pixel trans-flective LCD) screen, since it is always on. This type of screen doesn't consume energy unless content of the screen is changes, so there is no need to turn if off.
The watch face show in this video is a free one on the "Garmin Face it" app. It's called "digital for tactix D v2" But in general, the watch comes standard with a dozen user customizable watch faces pre programmed in.
Hi from a Venezuelan in Panama! Thanks so much for the video, the best I’ve seen from real life use. Question, would you sell you older Tactix? Thanks in advance!
Have epix 2. But love tactix pro looks so badly. Will buy it sometime in the feature when it maybe drops in price a bit or sale. Or maybe just new version comes out.
I have enjoyed this video, I’m trying to pull the trigger to pruchase this tactix 7 pro solar, Can you make a video when you use the airplane mode, will it give information about the speed of the airplane and the hight and giving real map data/ can you navigate using this watch in a plane. This will be so insane if this is possible. To see when you are in a plane how much time and miles left to reach you destination. For this price point there must be a option like this, then it is really a navy seal watch. I hope you can explain this in the deep dive.
I took delivery of my Tactix 7 today, this is my first Garmin watch and it appears the display (indoors)is dim even with the backlight set to 100%, others noted the same thing and said it was the nature of the style of display, would like your opinion please.
It is a bit dim. Ultimately, I've never needed anything more or have noticed an issue through 3 different Garmins. During the day it should be plenty bright to read. Night time or low light is the only time I use my back light.
Any updates/further videos in the pipeline? I just learned about this watch, and the features like the ballistics greatly appeal to me. Thanks for the vid!
It depends on what settings you have on. Constant heart rate and having Seconds turned on will drain the battery. But if you remove those features it will last about 22 days on normal mode.
@@PreparedAirmanHmm, so you lose one week of battery life? But still, 3 weeks is still amazing. I have Fenix 7X Pro so i was wondering about battery life. My thanks for the information.

Yes, most definitely. If you were to hike in and scout for locations, you can easily save, label, and mark points with this watch. Then when it comes to the day of your hunt, you can navigate to any point you have saved. It will literally give you an arrow and a digital map to follow. It's especially handy in the early mornings where you have no sunlight. Just check the arrow on the watch and start moving.
Hello I have question regarding ABC widget. Are you able to set units (feet or meters) in altimeter? In mine Garmin Tactix 7 Pro Im not able to set units in ABC widget. Its possible to set only via System-Format-Units. If I want to change units in altimeter via ABC widget its not possible. I remember in the previous model Tactix Delta it was possible to change in Altimeter via ABC widget.
If you go to the dedicated altimeter widget, not the one that shows all three ABCs. It should look like a green chart. hit the start button it should say "calibrate" below that it should say "pan chart" and below that it should say "settings".
@@PreparedAirman Yes I also tried to change a units via Altimeter widget (not only in ABC) but units was not change. It looks like there is some bug or mistake in software in mine Garmin
The tactix delta and tactix delta are very similar, but the 7 adds touch screen ability and a few other items. Ultimately, it's what you think would best suit you. The tactix 7 it's currently the peak or preformence.
Update firmware 13.22 : Garmin has changed the backlight behavior : " The new backlight behavior is the intended result for the v13.22 software update. For example - the backlight will turn on when: - Acquiring GPS to start an outdoor activity or when acquiring GPS to save a location waypoint. - Viewing the Map whether by itself as a feature or within an activity. - Going into the Sunrise & Sunset glance and viewing the Sun position menu on the map." With this, Garmin has made this actually tactical watch unusable for the military, because there is no option to disable this. I look at the map in the field and give away my position by the light. Life threatening. The problem is discussed in the forum, and Garmin's statement: "This backlight behavior is intentional and we have no plans to change it.
My question is if I spend 1000$+ on this watch. How would I know it will last me 5+ years? Technology is always improving and I’m sure after couple years this watch will start lagging crazy forcing you to upgrade to the next generation.
I have a Garmin Tactix Bravo. They were released in 2016. It is still accurate and doesn't lag. The only reason I upgraded was for the HR monitor and dedicated maps. I honestly didn't "need" to upgrade, I just "wanted" too
A great watch for sure. It all came down to price for me and I bought an Instinct 2x Solar Tactical. Sometimes I wonder if I should have spent the extra, but I still love the Instinct 2. That Pink solar band is the high efficiency solar panel, but the entire black back of the screen is also a solar panel, but it's less efficient. That's at least what the case is, with my Instinct 2. My battery lasts at least a month. Yes the torch is very useful. It's not a gimmick at all. I looked at Apple watches, Suunto and others, but I think Garmin are heads and shoulders above the rest. If the Apple Ultra 2 had a battery that lasted a week, it would be a harder choice, but Garmin also look like real military style watches. Very much like a beefed up G Shock. As a non active Military person who is into differebt sports, the other option for me, would be the Enduro 2. Another beast of a watch.
Looked at it, but it seems to not have some of the features I was looking for. I was wanting more navigational and Ballistics features. I'm also not a hard-core runner. Maybe in the future.
