Luka said he doesn’t plan on playing as long as Lebron has. He’ll prolly play until his early 30s and then retire since he’s played professional basketball since he was 16.

This shouldn't be a controversial take, but... For the life of me, I don't know why the NBA isn't putting some of that money into the G League. Pay those players, grow those markets, and this seems like the perfect time to get an academy system up and running. We have fallen behind with youth development, and we have the resources to do something about that. I'm not Frank Michael Smith, but that's my take.
@straightshootah7550 Their governing body for basketball in Europe would not like that, and they could- and would- disallow that. Very easily. They simply would not allow that to happen. More realistically, American investors could buy existing teams and use them to feed players into North America on favorable terms. That would be unpopular but possible. On the whole though, I really think we need to get to a place where the G League is the second best league and competition in the world right after the NBA. And our youth development needs to catch up to Europe.
@@straightshootah7550the problem with US basketball is that young kids don't get paid... In EU when u sign with basketball club they paid you money!!!
By the time players are in the G league it’s too late, Americans will still be playing catch up. When Americans have to compete in popular sports with Europeans they will always be behind in terms of developing players. It’s the same thing that happens in soccer and it’s because of the college system, also because of the American obsession with “athleticism” and the numbers that go along with it like wingspan instead of actual basketball fundamentals and skill. Europeans in sports like soccer and basketball join academies while they’re still young children and stay there developing their skills until they turn pro at like 16/17. Americans move schools, colleges and then most aren’t going pro until they’re already in their early 20s, they aren’t being developed either that whole time they’re all just competing against each other and the “elite athletes” will get picked out of the pack. The college system is just bad, the AAU system is bad, the whole structure is bad. It’s not built to develop players, or even find good players… it’s good to find people who have the potential to be elite athletes which won’t necessarily translate into being an actual good basketball player. Lucky for the US basketball is only popular in a few European countries and even then it’s not the number 1 sport.
Tax? Luka don’t care about tax if he’s pulling 95 a year. Plus, if you make over 700k in Texas you really don’t pay much. It’s rigged that way on purpose.
Messi made 400 mio euros over 3 years on one contract bro. And that was after already earning hundreds of millions as he was already a superstar for over a decade and and then he went to paris earned another 150 mio over 2 years ro then go to inter miami where his salary isnt that high with 20 mio euros bit he gets compensation in form of shares in inter miami and revenue shares from apples revenue of mls season pass incomes. And then he has contracts for advertising worth around 100 mio per year additional.

It’s crazy how much money players are going to make but that just tells you how lucky they are and I think they should be more grateful to fans and start taking regular season more seriously.
they aren’t lucky. They put in more work than anyone, beat the odds, accomplished their dreams, and went to the gym relentlessly. You do that and become a NBA player and tell me if you’re lucky.
Thinking about it now The way how the lead currently is with this money increase people are going to start to care less unless about playing the game and more about making money honestly to incentivize people actually playing and playing hard there should be like a rule in place where you have to play all 82 games to get all of your salary being listed as an All-Star you get a bonus
