I can see this device being extremely useful to older people who have a hard time navigating through smart phones as well as children under 10
"Revolutionary new technology"
"It's great for grandmas and toddlers"
@@randomhuman69420 considering that currently there's no great tech for grandmas and toddlers then it's still Revolutionary
You can make a million dollars by having a million customers pay 1 dollar or 10 customers pay 100k.
Also, something that can automate simple tasks in virtually every app without detection is hugely beneficial for a lot of people
@@randomhuman69420
yes, yes, i can already see it.
children under 10: Do you want to confirm ride to disneyland for 10,000 dollars. Yes. Good
Older people: Do you want to book trip to Dubai for 4,000$. "No i wanted a trip to my son Dubby.". Click wrong button. That be 4,000 sir.
Very useful indeed - for making extremely hazardous errors. There's reason we cannot book things with 1 button.

no. It does way less. 😂

i think its good for blind people without the need of spending much for an iphone
@@tiwitiwi6202I mean.. a $50 android phone can do this 😕
-what do you do?
-I write uniformed stuff on the internet
it's an LMA device and they mostly use it as a standard voice assistent. That's not the device's fault.
The whole selling point of the device is being able to interact with your apps. Why on earth did they only try one command that could be easily achieved by voice assistants already, and two which doesn't involve any apps.
Im actually trying to finf information on that. I wanna know if it can edit videos and get actual work down for my online business. That could be the best spent 200$ ever but its suspicious how there is no showcase. They said its able to learn any interface. Why is there no demonstration?
Exactly, I'm so tired of the AI term being used for things that are not AI and are common place at this point. This review didn't do anything to help show the value the device has. What are common use cases, other than doing what my phone can already do?
My thoughts exactly. I preordered one to try and see all of it's computer based applications. For example: can it learn how to use Google and ChatGPT interfaces to teach itself anything? Or can it be used to create hundreds of bot accounts on a social media platform (including filling out the captcha). Or can it learn the interface of a video game from watching the tutorial and then play the game to completion? Or can it be used to not only write code like ChatGPT, but use a programming editor and debug it's code that it writes? It really irritates me that the only things they show off with the device are things that a voice assistant already can do, and not showing us the actually useful things.
@@eliasschnutz6826 I need it to log into my Schwab account, pull up data on bonds that meet a criteria, then execute a trade at best execution.
You totally said what I was thinking while watching this 👍
So you have early access to a new device with an advanced AI that can control any existing app and the first thing you ask the age of Brad Pitt or play a song. Great, very useful.
Because you already have your fingers to controll any existing app

As someone who wants to spend less time on my phone and reduce screen time, I think this could be a great solution. It requires you to access information with intent, as opposed to doom scrolling and becoming easily addicted to visuals in applications. It's a great tech solution for those who want to be more present in their lives. My only question is about GPS capability whether it will allow you to use Google maps.

This makes a lot of sense
would be amazing to have offline ai processing for stuff like wilderness navigation and survival tips along with camera plant identification. sadly it is cloud-only device so if your internet is down, you're out of ai. at least that's what i understand. would be amazing to feed it survival, fishing and orientation pdfs for it to browse in offline mode. same for many other hobbies where you want to save time on your research and you don't have access to network.
No apps
In other words, this will be just another carry on item alongside your phone.
“I’ve only had a few minutes to check it out.”
Yeah this was an absolutely terrible showcase video. I honestly didn't know CNET got this lazy over the years.
Hol up, Brad Pitt is 60 years old?!
That was the shocker for me, too in this video!😮
I had to pause the video because there’s no way!!!!! 😮
And then reminds yourself that you're aging too 😭😭😭
I wasn’t expecting that either.
Brad Pitt/Age
60 years
December 18, 1963
The video is edited with a cut after every question, in this way is impossible to tell the accurate response time, that is a crucial information for these kind of devices.
Good observation, does seem pretty deceptive the way they did it.
Rabbit R1 is collaborating with Perplexity, which provides real time fast answers, so, it may be possible it is not edited
Like every other demo of this relatively obvious scam - they didn't show it doing anything at all other than answering questions that a Google Home could answer 8 years ago.
It doesn’t take much time, someone showed it a picture of jordan’s and it took 6 seconds to find it and info on when and who made it, however it seems this was on good wifi (if that matters?!?).
I'm confused my phone can currently do all that stuff now? Lol
ye but it can do that faster, and better since you can just search on youtube for stuff or you can say some words and get the whole dictionary
Imagine a folding phone that has rabbit R1 like features when closed, but opens up to a full smartphone.
Yeah, I wish their was a folding phone that can work that’s folded and I can open it to be a full size phone. /s
That's actually a great idea
yep, that's a great idea. It doesn't to be this huge thing, just an android phone and when closed simply have a button and ask ChatGPT or any other LLM using the built-in voice assistant
I cannot see this thing taking off personally. Not when people already have phones in their pockets. This is not meant to replace your phone, it is an assistant. I think that once the novelty of a new device wears off these things will do nothing but collect dust. One big factor is that all of the hard work is being done on the servers in the backend anyways. So as you might expect Google, Apple and Amazon are all probably well aware of what this thing is and is potentially capable of... and get this, they will update their Siri, Alexa and Homes to do the same thing. It's not even far fetched, i bet within 6 months this thing will be overshadowed by the bigger companies. I would probably bet they would have something in testing prior to the actual release date of this thing (march-ish timeframe from what i heard)
Facts tho. Voice assistants from big tech will surely be able to the do same tasks soon, so for now this thing is just child of Siri and ChatGPT 4 on steroids, located on the separate device, nothing more
Yeah you bring up a great point. What am I supposed to do now buy another device to put on this device so I can find it when I lose it? I have a hard enough time holding onto my iPhone.
I don’t see this taking off. With smartphones
VA making advances in AI, there doesn’t seem to be a point to tjis.
That has to be the worst first impressions ever made.
I appreciate your effort in sharing your thoughts on the R1. In the future, it might be helpful to conduct more thorough research and testing before creating a video. This could provide a more comprehensive understanding of the product's capabilities. I understand the excitement of sharing content quickly, but taking the time to explore the R1's features could offer a more insightful perspective for viewers. This video felt like a waste of time to me. Constructive feedback can help improve the quality of the content. I believe the R1 has potential, and I'm looking forward to seeing more comprehensive reviews in the future. However, this video seemed like you tried to make a video without spending more than a few minutes on it - this is a waste of time for me personally. I would show better use case scenarios rather than asking silly questions to the device - this video makes the R1 seem like a useless kids toy, but I know it's much more than that. It would have also been way more interesting if you also did an unboxing of the product in addition to this.
Looks like a nice gift that you can give to a curious child
LOL!! Indeed!
Yes. Exactly. Or like myself. My kids aren't allowed cellphones yet and they're not getting one until I feel they're old enough and mature enough to handle the crazy, disfunction that comes with exposure to social media/apps. This device would be both helpful for them and it would calm the begging down for a cellphone because it ain't happening right now. 😂
@@ray6639You sound like a helicopter parent. Your kids hate you.
everything this device can do can be done with a siri shortcut, you can even make one to speak to chatgpt. (I dont know how it works on android but its probably something similar) And the fact that it is voice ONLY means that when you just want to search something you are going to be spending ages for it to understand your request
I wish foldable mobile device (like galaxy z flip) would implement this simple feature. An AI wakeup button, that's it.
CNET doing this thing a disservice by only talking about voice assistance.
This is actually a really cool device that is way more than just an AI assistant, but for some recent CNET failed to show that. It can connect to your smartphone at home and perform actions with your apps, as well as allow you to teach it new actions by just showing it a screen recording. It's kinda like if you had an intern at home that's actually doing the things on your phone or computer that you ask it to.
So it's like using your phone with extra steps for an extra $200...
Either CNET completely misunderstands the purpose of the device, or they weren't allowed to try to actually interact with apps on a phone. I am leaning towards the latter and I believe this technology will flop. Not because if it's premise but because they aren't going to be able to deliver on what they promise.
@@Patellothat would make sense, until you account for the fact it's CNET you're talking about
Something you can already do with macros....
@@LarryJ602 no, it's stuff like "plan a whole vacation for my family of three and book everything" and it does it. I really want to see how much time you spent on such tasks. or if you don't know how to use an app, you just tell it the result you want.
It's not a smartphone replacement...it's literally a new class of electronic device..AI companions will have their own market n future integrations with tools like sora are gonna be mind blowing
Finally someone gets it 😂
Yes it's SUPPOSED to be a smartphone replacement - but it's not. Not right now, and there's literally zero to stop Google and Apple from doing exactly what this thing does or could come up. And those companies have vastly more people and resources to pull it off. There is literally nothing this thing can or could do that an iPhone/Android couldn't be made to do.
Dang good point
Is it different with chat gpt app subscription? It's around 15 dollar right..?
You have a device marketed to interact seamlessly with other apps based on spoken instructions and are you asking it account security questions? Very helpful
Can you control volume?
The main problem with any voice assistants is that on the street they are a tool for extroverts. Still, here you need the ability to use the keyboard at least as an additional accessory and the ability to connect headphones. They can charge introverts for this if they want, but it's necessary if they really want their product to reach a wide audience.
Looks like it could be useful when out and about but how do you access the internet?
Its best used to do tasks vs ask it questions. You can train it to do tasks on the applications you use for you. Great for productivity I think
Would Rabbit R1 be able to do the following task, which I repeat about 60 times each day manually? On my iPhone 15, (Step 1:) I go to app #1 which shows two addresses. I cannot "select and copy" the upper address from the screen because it is "not selectable" (though if I take its screenshot and save it in Photos, then I can "scan" the address and copy it in the clipboard. (Step 2:) Automatically insert the copied address in the Search field of App #2. Both Apps are available in the App Store. Tell me if you think it is possible with Rabbit R1.
@@TCFP-mi6ug yes, I think that would be possible given the demos they've shown on training new workflows
@@TCFP-mi6ug What do you mean "app #1?" and what are you trying to "automatically" copy it too? You didn't really give enough context of what you're trying to do.
@@TCFP-mi6ug No. Rabbit doesn't exist and whatever apps you are using, definitely isn't going to be re-made just for this new device. You are better off trying to use an actual computer, where you can automate such tasks with ease.
Idk if it has chat mode where i connect my headphones and do stuff on it while i walk and i dontneed to push a buttom that would be cool
Im not sure... But did they cut out the time they had to wait for the answers?
I could see this being a great idea for time travelers
Does it have a cellular modem?
I bet within a few weeks/months there will be an App for my Android phone that will do that and more.
Does it need wifi to work?
I think it could be great for all kinds of people. When I’m studying, I can easily get distracted when I have to look something up on my phone. 3 hours later……I’ve been on UA-cam, IG and other social media apps, just from trying to look up one question 🤦🏾♀️
Why would you think this thing would change this behavior of your?
@@stefanogandino9192 it removes some of the distractions. If I’m reading a passage in a book, and I come across a term I do not know, I go to my phone and research it, but a silent notification comes through or just seeing an app on my home screen (email app, or message app) may prompt me to and click on it, which starts a rabbit hole, of activities. It appears that this limits the risk of mindless scrolling that I could get trapped in, just opening my phone or iPad.
It may not be for you. However I would be open minded about something like this, if it works the way I’m thinking it works.
0:30 why skip the delays?
Could this replace my phone at home I have adhd but don't want to spend all day at home with my apps but need a virtual assistant to spell things and do work
I am curious about this too
If only I had a device I carry on me all the time that can do this and more.

It’s a standalone Siri or Alexa I believe they are about 10 years too late unfortunately
No volume buttons? What about power?
Can this interface with the Flipper Zero?
I wonder why they made a physical product.. all of us already carry devices with screens, navigation buttons and speakers; couldn't it be sold as an App?
Could, but not for $199, hardware will probably give them more profit
Yes, but the hardware has several use cases. For example, in an alternate universe, smartphones are too confusing for me. I could use this device as a substitute.

I wish there were more comments like this. Seriously... My iPhone does what this R1 thing does because I use a iPhone Shortcut to enable ChatGPT to answer questions. Siri doesn't work well for me but understands my daughter's teen-speak. Alexa understands me better. Yeah, put it out there and let's ee what it does.

@@mrwoodcat I watched that movie and I 100% agree with you, the R1 should just be able to chat with you like her which one be a good selling point for the R1, I hope they are looking at the comments
Did not mention, how it charges, how it connects to the internet? Is it a SIM card,
You could do the same thing with your phone. It’s called Siri.
To everyone talking about how it can do less and doesnt have apps:
I read through their mission a while ago and it seems kind of cool. Its all about how we get consumed by the complexity of apps and what we can do, from binging reels to playing mobile games. They wanted to simplify things so we start using it more rationally instead of being the victim of algorithms designed to consume us.
Can you post this without edit between question and rabbit1’s response? I want to see the real time lag
Who and where does this device run through and where was it created
Basically a portable Alexa
Awesome finally we have real world Jarvis now
If this one can prepare and bring my breakfast into my room, I'd totally buy it. But until then, I wouldn't want to add another disposable technology into my house.
@@rubina6327 wait for mass production tesla optimus for that one
As someone who does automation work for a living, this is not going to be that easy. You'll be able to get it to do 90% of the task, but I'm willing to bet that last 10% will be enough to make you decide to just do it by hand in the end anyway.
Rabbit R1 makes alot of sense for people that consider money as no issue, and don't want the hassle of clicking on apps to order taxis, book holidays or ordering food and maybe do your taxes for you too. It automates heck out of alot of tasks, so you can focus on other things in life, like enjoying it.
What's the difference between this and saying 'OK google" on my phone.
So basically a Google device like the thing I'm typing on currently
Why would you want this when your phone practically does all the functions
Name one thing the phone does that this does
Expensive Google assistant that does less.
Ooooh, a Mediatek chip in an AI assistant? That's interesting! Wonder how it stacks up against the usual Qualcomms. Gotta see some performance benchmarks!
The only benfit i could see from this is being able to instantly start asking a question, I’m getting anniyed with having to unlock my phone and texts calls or slow phone clicks accidently launching wrong apps
So its just a portable Alexa? Which our phones pretty much already have with Siri, Bixby, and the google assistant?
How is it different than Alexa, which is also 100% voice activated?
I just got a rabbit r1 ad just before this😂😂😂
$199 for chatgpt lol
The only main difference is you’ll be speaking instead of typing, meaning everyone in your vicinity will know what you want
AND
the machine will decide what you want, meaning, you have way too little control, for instance you want to check the pricing options of many things, moreover chat GPT right now has only 70% accuracy, so let’s say you want to go to Rome, it may take you to the wrong Rome in the world, maybe even a street. Even if one word is wrong by the AI, it can truly rip whatever you are doing apart. I’d like it as a collector item though.
The main feature of the device is being able to do tasks..which you dont mention, but that is the key selling point and something a smartphone cant yet do.
It literally can't do anything your smartphone can't already do.
Brad Pit's like "HOW YOU GOING TO DO ME LIKE THAT CNET!"
Looks like an improved version of Apple's Siri with significant upgrades of NLP (natural language processing). Looks good for budget phone or for disabled people but will not replace a modern 2024 smartphone for the average consumer.
So how does it connect to the internet?
Over WiFi or the built-in 4G SIM card slot
I definitely want to buy a share, but can’t find anything on these guys.
I’m lefty and won’t be able to use my right thumb, this seems to be a challenge.
Siri or a simple search always does what I need
This thing does stuff for you. Like write me a resume based on my skills. Then it emails you the resume. She just asked it things. You can integrate your apps and sort of program it with a bit of ease. That's the point of difference to a phone. It's like Chat GPT in a device but no subscription.
Does it require active internet???
My $50 android phone can do this. Smartphones exists and there is already an app for that!
True
Not true.
They didn't go through everything it can do. Watch the keynote speech
it is more of accessory which is aimed to use for specific conditions
basically it wants you to use more than your phone but never want to become the phone
The point of this is that you don't interact with any apps anymore. You setup your apps with rabbit and say "Open spotify and play this song" or "add this appointment to my calander and set an alarm for it" so instead of going to each app and clicking through and doing everything, you can interact with your apps in the cloud instantly. The language model will also learn from experience with you
okayyy, not sure tho what this will do. Siri can do similar feats btw,
Im struggling for a while now , considering buying an old "dumb" phone to replace my 'smart'phone. Tbh, its more distracting than useful. So why not , buying this R1 and test it out. Looks like future this concept of devices. Will give it a shot when its shipped to germany :D
So what is so unique about R1 compare to siri , and Google Assistant , or Alexa ? Those questions current phone can do it
So I am carrying two devices around now? Ai assistant and a smart phone.
Didnt show the part about needing to use a computer to sign into all your apps like music, uber, blah blah. Oh and the best part is you login through the company who owns the R1 servers.
Now we just have to wait for the production of the Rockman Personal Terminal (PET) to become a reality.
As someone who is going bhlind , I think this would help me out so very much
It would be better if it has the setup from the megaman battle network with their AI and chip system to play
Can it also have the ability to battle other AI devices.
voice command will always be slower than navigating a screen by hand or mouse/keyboard. good luck multitasking on this and trying to check/write emails while looking up when the nearest train or bus is coming or maps navigating while answering a call.
Great - a device that fully bypasses safeguards against erroneous information by limiting content only to what the AI concludes. Just what the world needs. I can already do that on my phone simply by ignoring the fact-checking links Google's interface gives me.
Gotta ask it real hard tough questions, like what kind of ice cream does the big guy like?
This just sounds like Siri with extra steps.
"Hey, Rabbit, which device is more powerful, you or iphone?"
or android

Is this a limited cellphone and even a limited smartwatch?
Make it a watch, with the ability to turn my questions into notes and I’m in!
Some people going to assume things they think they know about this device. Sure it does many things we can, but maybe also things we can but faster? One way to find out is by buying it. It's only $199 so not bad.
Apple and Google will never make such a device, as it will ruin their app business model where they can earn commision money from developers making apps in their appstores. That's why Rabbit will be such a breath of fresh air.
But you still need the apps on your phone. It's such a redundant device
@@simonthewatchguy6073 actually you dont need the apps on your phone, you just need to register to the service, and then logout and uninstall the apps even. you can even register on your laptop, dont even need to install the apps, its a whole new way of accessing the service, which is a great alternative.
