    Like so many others, I used to get my nails done in the salon and then well, lock down. I started with Azure and while their liquids were nice, I didn't care for the powders. I ventured to Kiara Sky and Sparkle & Co as well as Double Dip. I do prefer S & Co for solid colors and for glitters, I have a favorite independent seller. But, lovely video.

    I love Azure liquids! And I have a lot of their solid dipa as well. I started out with one of the "Big Brands" based on a friend's recommendation. The liquids would gum up on the bottles and seal shut no matter what I tried to keep them clean, which was so frustrating seeing how expensive they were. I tried the azure set with just the two liquids out of desperation and I haven't looked back. They work with every dip I have from small brand to big. I've never actually used the top coat because I love my igel beauty gel topcoat so much but maybe I'll try it now! Beautiful mani as always! 🤩

      Wow that’s awesome Amber! Thank you for sharing your experiences! I haven’t had the best experiences either with some of those big brands! Perhaps if I’d started with these I could have avoided a lot of frustration. I’m happy with my Virgo and Gem and Vivid now but I’ll be adding these to the rotation as l well! I really do think the top coat is great too. Thank you my friend! 🥰

    Azure was how I started. I was pandemic shopping and had only heard of Kiara Sky and they were backed up for weeks. So I hopped on Amazon and read reviews. I had a really good experience!! I guess I've never really even had any crappy liquids. Their clear isn't very clear, but the liquids and powders are no complaints from me. Mine came with full size bottles, including a pH prep and the brush cleaner, 3 colors, clear, a normal sized file, a bigger brush, orange stick, a buffer file (not like the block, but a file size buffer), and a cuticle pen. It was a little pricier due to the full size bottles I believe. My skills were not great, but I think my manis turned out well for only having my salon experience to compare it to. I am mostly a dip top user, unless I'm doing gel art, and I was always happy with the shine!

    • @carriegnails
      @carriegnails  2 роки тому

      Really!? That’s awesome! Kiara Sky was my first order but I got tired of waiting and ordered IGel dip liquids. Both gave me horrible dip flu and the IGel took forever to dry. IGels powders are good just too big. KS powders were pretty hit or miss for me. Some of them were HORRIBLE to work with. All of my KS stuff has been decluttered from my collection. I think I would have had a much more enjoyable first go with this kit. This top coat is so pretty!! I definitely have had my share of mediocre liquids. Good liquids make such a difference! That’s so weird about the clear, I definitely will skip on that one.

      @@carriegnails one of my friends dipped her own nails since about 2018/19 and she started with whatever they sell at Sally Beauty, and she switched to KS and loved them. I guess my worst liquids experience (and bigger business in general) was Rossi. Talk about the slowest drying liquids and sooooo smelly!! They sent them to me to try out though, but I had purchased powders from them, which are also bad.

    I'm a beginner. with the powder. I will be getting the starter box delivered today. I need a way to do my own nails as I have arthritis in both hands and holding the brushes can be difficult, plus I don't want to go to the salon anymore. I think this will be easier just dipping the color. My question is, what is the best way to remove it? Is it hard to do? Thank you

    Is dip as durable as acrylic or close to it?

    • @carriegnails
      @carriegnails  2 роки тому

      I haven’t had an acrylic set done in forever so it’s hard for me to compare, but I can tell you this. Dip powder and acrylic is virtually identical. In some cases the dip powder is a bit more finely milled, but that’s about it. Only the application method is different. I really got until dip powder for its structure. It’s very strong and holds up well. So it’s definitely close to (if not the same as) the durability of acrylic. ❤️

    • @carriegnails
      @carriegnails  2 роки тому

      Yes that’s exactly right Jessica! 😊 So my tips I apply the regular way with gel glue. The peel base goes over top of the tips and then the dip goes over top of that ❤️❤️❤️

    Beautiful! I was curious about this brand too because I’m always on Amazon. As someone very new to diy nails, besides the cuticle cleaning tool you use, do you do anything else like filing around your cuticles? Or do you find using the tool to be sufficient? Thanks for your videos!

    • @carriegnails

    I know you filmed this awhile ago but I just realized I don't think I've seen you use a pour over method... do you not like that method for powder application?

    • @carriegnails
      @carriegnails  2 роки тому +1

      Hey Allie! It's pretty rare that I use the pour over method. I totally see its value but somehow I always end up missing spots here or there. 😅 It often gives me a more sheer/thinner application too. And since I use thin dip liquids already, I don't really deal much with thickness. That said I definitely think it's a method worth trying! Especially if you're doing more layers of dip (i.e. such as dipping on natural nails, etc). ❤️❤️❤️

    I love the colors offered by the kit but the base coat stinks really bad to me....really awful. I could not stand it. Same with the activator, and the activator brush just doesn't coat nicely, in my opinion. I like the brush to dust off the excess powder though. So the colors and the dust off brush saved the set for me.
