Confirming the world of nothing but shrimp was fantastic.
I’m wondering if the world without shrimp is also out there. Tara seemed to really like that one.
What did the shrimp eat, though? And where did they live? 🦐 🍤 🤔

I’m assuming they lived in the water and ate plants or plankton. Or they ate each other.
Thinking about it, both worlds could have been wished together. Wishing there were no shrimp created an alternate reality to dump all the shrimp.
So one world is recently shrimp-less and the other is filled with cannibalistic shrimp winding it’s way down until entropy takes the last shrimp.
Probably catastrophic for the world without shrimp as well as shrimp are important to the food web. Probably a lot of extinctions after they disappeared.
Or an even more nightmarish world with no land or see just a globe of water filled with shrimp. More than any one would could contain. Just shrimp piled on shrimp. Piled so deep that in places you can walk on hills of shrimp that rise above the water.

But Lindsey only for sure knows about 2. Questionable if he would know about Doyle, given that Doyle died before before Lindsey became entangled with Angel on a more personal level.
I feel like Lilah would have known all about Doyle (witness her doing extra research in both Blind Date and during the Darla pregnancy arc) but Lindsey may have glossed over those details.
@@rnroberts1254 Lindsey introduced himself as Doyle to Spike earlier in the season. So yeah, Lindsey was well aware of Doyle and how important he was to Angel.

If I remember correctly, it was while they were filming the fight in the basement that the cast and crew found out the show had been cancelled
I believe that is what they say in the DVD commentary.
I also believe that’s why they added Mercedes to the credits starting with this episode.
I was reminded this morning of what Lilah said to Lindsey in "To Shanshu in LA:" *Remember when Robert Price let the Senior Partners down and they made him eat his liver? I don't know what made me think of that.*
How Promethean! I like to think this episode's outcome for Lindsey had always been in their mind since that episode.
This is actually one of my favorite episodes of the series. Lindsay speech in particular is so relevant.
I love how spike was only grossed out by the heart after lindsay told him it was his😂😂

I walked worlds of smoke and half-truths, intangible. Worlds of torment and of unnamable beauty. Opaline towers as high as small moons. Glaciers that rippled with insensate lust... And one world with nothing but shrimp... I tired of that one quickly.
I'm surprised Illyria did stay in some of those worlds it sounds like she enjoyed them.
I love how everyone's reaction to Eve's "I'm gonna die" is just 'Oh no...anyway...'
I always felt it would've been so much better if Lilah had been their liaison to the senior partners. It was definitely a possibility, seeing that her contract extended into the afterlife. She showed up in 'Home' after all. I don't know why they didn't take that route. It would've added even more pain and drama to the story which, as we all know, is something the Buffyverse writers love more than anything else. Eve is just so...meh.

If you think it’s uncomfortable, it’s supposed to be. You’re seeing his grief through his eyes.

You know, some people got mad at MacKenzie (FT TV) for not liking Wesley, but I mostly agree with her. Where the others practice self-reflection and seek atonement and self-betterment, Wesley always chooses to just wallow in self-pity. It's not like he's completely blameless in this entire situation. He may not remember all of it, but he's well aware of the fact that he accepted a job at Wolfram & Hart knowing full well what kind of business they were into.
I care about Wesley, but he’s a very flawed character (which isn’t a negative imo), and the more I rewatch, the less sympathetic I am towards him. Still like him and find him interesting as a character, but I don’t find his arc to really be that of a champion.
I think Wesley is more like Lindsay than Angel. Which is why I feel like he was better suited to Lilah than Fred. I think his feelings for Fred were partly about longing for who he used to be and could not be again.
Lindsey’s speech about THE apocalypse never fails to give me chills and make me emotional… it’s just too damn good! 😭❤️ Wesley and Illyria’s conversation on the rooftop is definitely one of my favorites. Their dynamic is simply so interesting to watch. Loved this video, Liam! Can’t wait for more 🥰

There's a reason that if I had to choose between the two groups the AI Team is the better group. The above is just one of _many_ examples. How many victories vs loses each has doesn't matter to me. I'd rather be on a team that cannot guarantee a win over a team that treat friends/people the way the Scoobies do.

The Illyria and Wesley scenes were meant to establish there relationship more and show an understanding between the two. I think there’s still some fred left over because she seems drawn to Wesley the most? I agree though that some parts were redundant.
I can’t remember how I felt about the next episode, but 19 through 22 are all incredible!

I'm surprised you didn't like the Wesley Illyria stuff, to me it's the best part of the episode. Yes some of it is exploring territory from before, but in a very different context (much more thoughtful as opposed to all exciting and high stakes), and it's establishing a relationship between the characters, which is very important for later. (It's easy to forget, because she's played by Amy, that Illyria is a completely different entity from Fred, so they needed to establish this new relationship.)
But oh man, the dialogue. It's some of the best in the series. The writers just seemed to let lose when writing for Illyria, her speeches/rants in this and "Time Bomb" are absolutely some of my favourite dialogue ever and Amy NAILS it. 👏
It's also very in line with Whedon's usual themes of existentialism, the randomness of existence, the need to create meaning in the world, etc. And fits very well into the themes of the episode as well - the reality underneath the petty appearances.
Definitely recommend watching these early Illyria scenes again once you've finished the series to get a real appreciation for how good they are. 🙂
(And I know it's hard to love Illyria if you also loved Fred, but just remember - in the end it's all about Amy's amazing talent 😃)
