Mahalo man
RESTORATION - I’m doing it brother. 50 years old and been wanting to do this since helping other guys build circle track cars just out of high school and became a sparky I stead. Just bought a 67 C-20 a couple of weeks ago to earn my chops on. Thanks for taking the time to put these videos together. That’s top shelf.
Truly valuable information from a guy who knows! Thanks so much for sharing your talents and experience my friend Pete!
Thanks Pete!!! I always learn something..your awesome
Awesome, Pete!
Extremely useful. Thank you very much.
I've seen this done at some shops here in Cali and i'm amazed at the results, Thanks for showing how it's done
My Friend Pete.
I watched you restore the steering wheel. I understand stand cutting the groove to stop it from cracking farther.
I'm talked to you before I'm a retired truck mechanic of 37 years. A lot of people don't realize you have to drill a hole at the end of a crack on cast iron before you weld it.
If you don't the crack will run from you and crack farther down the block.
Thanks Pete I'm 68 years old and retired.
What’s the brand or specific glue you use?
Worked like a charm
Did I miss something What is the name brand of the epoxy you used?
It's funny over the last couple of weeks I just restored a 1959 and a 1960 Thunderbird steering wheel and then I ran across your video. I did pretty much the same thing that you just did and it turned out great. Thank you for sharing
Fantastic video 👍
Thanks for the videos very helpful
too give you some encouragement i am 16 and im about to fix the steering wheel on my 1965 ford falcon! ive watched quite a few of your videos and they have helped with alot of my questions
Great info Pete. I did this on my 59 chevy wheel this week. I used 3m #35887 EZ sand. I was told it was for plastic bumper repair, sanded easy. I'm going to squirt it this weekend. Wish me luck🤘
Good Luck 🍀👍
Thanks for the video.Have a great life.
Hey Pete, great job on this one 👍👍
Great video😀
I about to do mine for my amx thanks for the lesson.

D.I.Y Chumpchange Custom'z With Mr.Pete The king of restoring...
All ways wear your safety glasses and don't sash Minnie. Good info Pete.
Nice
I was about to restore the old slick style wheel on my 72 Dodge van but more I looked around the hub, I noticed the cracks were so heavy they shifted the seperate pieces of plastic from each other. what a nightmare! I had to get one of the later wheels that looked the same.
what is the epoxy you use and where do you get it ?
Thank you for the video it is very informative, and I like the encouraging life lessons too! What is the name of the filler you use?
Pete those safety glasses look cool but they offer lil to no protection against flying debris at 3000 rpm
I see the black duct tape over the cartridge, is that panel bonding adhesive?
awesome Pete...hello from north Idaho. i am building a 51 chevy 327 cu 350 trans mustang 2 front end. 2 door bizz coop
That sounds like it’s gonna be a beautiful car when it’s done. Good luck
Hey pete, i was never able to see what part number the epoxy was that you used. I used a panel bond that was blue and dam thing had some kind of reaction and the whole epoxy fluffed up and was not hard at all, it was spongy after days of drying and i did use the mixer syringe and also tried hand mixing, same outcome. Can you share the part number please? I didnt see it on the description either so figured I'd ask
Carb cleaner also doesn't evaporate nearly as fast, so much better for cleaning
Ah well hell, that's a job ment for me.
I can chase some cracks man, fo sure my guy. 👍🍻😂
It’s better to restore the OEM parts rather than use inferior replacement parts.
especially since you cant buy everything new
Thanks for sharing this knowledge Pete! This is valuable information! Why are there only 420 LIKES??!! Hit the button people!
Pete, what's the name or part number of the 2-part adhesive you're using? Thanks!
Good morning, what do you charge to restore 67 impala steering wheel?
👍
Buying parts for a vintage car is a slippery slope!
I think the new generation does like old classic cars, they're just all lazy as fuck and accustomed to the instant gratification. I know because I'm lazy as fuck, and I've been lazily restoring my 69 beetle for like 5 years now. Thanks to that one thing that happened last year, which I won't name cuz youtube censorship, I've had so much free time. Watching these restoration vids on youtube has given me a new kick in the ass to get it done. I'd love to try set up a shop tuning/fixing classics, since there's so few places that do it anymore.
do you have any tempest 64 steering wheel for sale
I know this video is a few years old so it was made before the 2023 Mecum auction. Classic muscle cars as well as other stuff was selling well in to the six figures.
My Friend Pete, when is Part 2 coming out?
Will you send me what brand of epoxy glue to use?
Hello my friend pete. When is the nightmare project becoming a dream?
It’s coming around soon. Thanks for watching.
Does this work with Bakelite? not shure what type of plastic is on 1968 Mustang
Yes this procedure works on most steering wheels unless they’re to far gone.
Instead of epoxy, why not use fiberglass filler? I would think it would be more mailable. I would think you could get it in there without bubbles or air pockets.
Your rite people can’t even reverse engineer shit we made in the 50’s
So does the plastic shrink after all those years, and the cracks are the gaps left behind?
Yeah that’s the skinny of it!
honestly, 100$ on a caulk gun, thats a racket. and 40$ a tube! Dude Im doing my aluminum stepvan and I need half a fuckload! Shit I was counting on 4 times the paint but damn the price of poker keeps going up.... why cant 2 parts in the same tube, and mix in the tip just like the foundation repair stuff...
Kind Like Early Dentistry ...
Classic cars was the big thing 20-25 years ago. Now the people who own these cars are getting old and tired of them so the aftermarket value has tanked. Even new car dealer will give you money for a credit towards a new car. Of course they give nothing and try and sell it for 3 times what you traded your classic in. I got a classic they what to give me half if that. If your lucky if you can find someone special. You have to find the right person if you can or take the beating. Right now it has been for like 7 years now is it is a buyer market.
Classics aren’t worth as much and are not as desirable as they used to be for sure. It’s a firing breed for sure
Okay so if somebody doesn't have air tools then what
Like going to the dentist.
Getting rid of the cavity’s. 😂😂😂
Materials are too expensive Hells bells they want $75.00 for a gallon of plastic filler anymore!
Man you need to get after it and quit talking so much and took 3 minutes of video just for you to get to the first step
24 min video of talking and talking...I left...just get to the points
Talk way too much
