I'm a beginner rider and my bike is a 3rd gen busa. It was very odd pulling out of the dealership having never ridden a motorcycle before, but I was able to quickly figure out how to ride it safely all the way home, which is about an hour away. Its been about a year and I have never regretted buying my busa as a first bike. The worst part about the busa being a first bike is that you really have to know and understand how to turn slow on it or you will dump the bike. I have been very lucky in my slow speed practice and was able to pass my test and get my license.

EG I was interested in a Honda CMX 1100 Rebel but when I sat on it my knees exceeded the tank recesses by a couple of inches, never seen this limitation mentioned, boo. Plenty of bigger riders than my 6'1". Fit is a crucial aspect, if it doesn't fit you there is no point in considering it further.

Thanks for the thought papa yams. @6’4” and anywhere from 350-390# depending on what state of hibernation I’m leaving or heading to I have lived this video. The dr650 and its endless aftermarket support makes it a wonderful bike for a big guy as it can be made to fit. The hd fatboy not only fits but has a name that is endearing, and it’s basically just like every other Harley for the most part. They are absolutely built for larger people to be comfortable on but absolutely expensive but cool. Also, an old yz490 is a wonderful big guy dirt bike, suspension handles the weight like a champ for trail riding and what not…. But man that engine is wild. Can’t keep the front end down, that’s actually the craziest bike I’ve ridden, just brutal unpredictable power on a light bike. Definitely an adrenaline junkies machine… and I’m not an adrenaline junkie, but I got one and trail ride it for a while against my buddies advice just because I’m stubborn and hard headed.

I've been looking to upgrade from my rebel 300 and I've been hitting the tall ass seat problem on all the bikes I really like. I always forget about the suspension change so this vid helped me with that too!
Getting my rebel 1100 t (2024) in a week. I’m 6,2/6,3 and I feel just comfortable on the bike, might put some forward controls on it in the future but as far as it is from factory I don’t have any problem feeling comfortable on the bike. Everyone’s body is different even at the same hight so my advice would be to go sit on your bike in sight and take it for a spin. I´m 6' 3'' and if you're into Caferacers i recommend you the Yamaha XSR900. I dont feel to big for it and it surely has enough power for every weight class.
Thank you! I'm also 6'3" and I'm absolutely in love with that model, is the XSR700 similar in size? also, I see there is a "street pack" wich includes a flat seat, wich seems to be higher, is that something to consider you think?

Is it? I'm also 6'6" and about 130 kg, 35.5" inseam. Want to find something smaller than a litre bike but it is so hard to find something that it is not an ADV, enduro, etc.
@@user-zqrj9tt13 gsxs is fantastic, I cant fault it now that it has been flashed and re mapped. Will say I am considering a different wind deflector as it hits me just under the helmet causing helmet lift at speed sometimes. I had a Yamaha xj6 for a decade. Again couldn't fault the machine my only issue I had with that was the shape of the seat would slid me into the tank on a long ride and give me numb nuts. But I had that resolved with a new seat that was shaped to prevent that. I do miss going through the gears on the 600. The litre I never get out of first lol. Good luck on your hunt. Safe riding 👊🏼
Finally, Someone talks about beginner bikes for fully grown people, not just children. Even though I tend to go towards Large capacity Cruisers, With my 6'8" (203cm) and close to 400lbs It's hard to find bikes that can handle me. The Honda Varadero is perfect, but not produced anymore. Most new Royal Enfields actually work quite well for me. Especially the Super Meteor. The only sportbike I've found to be comfortable is the BMW K1200RS. Most large ADV works as Papa Yam said, but one honorable mention is the Husqvarna Svartpilen 401. The old model, the new one is too small. My current stable include a '11 Victory Cross Roads 106, '96 Suzuki DR800 BIG, '07 Honda Varadero XL1000V, '98 Suzuki Intruder VL1500 and finally a '99 Suzuki VL1500 Intruder. Comments about my choices?
@@firstinlastout For cruisers I'd recommend looking at a Suzuki VL1500 or Yamaha XVS1100 Custom with forward controls. For ADVs it's easy. Most ADV bikes are OK for taller riders. But I'd look at Honda Varadero XL1000, Suzuki V-strom DL1000 or even Triumph Tiger. Also look at BMW K1200 series. I Recently got myself a K1200 GT and it's so much fun and it's got heated grips and seat. and the pegs and seat is adjustable for optimal comfort.
G'day YN. I'm a little surprised that you didn't include the Triumph Rocket 3. My best mate is 6'2" and was about 440lb (now down to about 320lb) and has owned a couple of Rockets now. You couldn't get it from him with a stick of TNT! His other bike is a Triumph Tiger 1200... please ignore the apparent Triumph bias. I'm 5'10" and about 220lb and I have ridden both. They are both great bikes, especially if you are on the chunkier side of the monkey tree. I own a Triumph Bonneville America and I absolutely love it! Although it would be on the borderline for taller, heavier riders...
Kind of surprised KTM wasn’t mentioned. Their whole range seems set up for people over 6’ tall. No lowered suspension options, no 5/6 scale bikes over 250cc available (looking at you Honda 500s).
for anyone in the uk/eu just starting out on 125cc bikes: 6'4", and I found the aprilia's 125's the most comfortable among the street bikes range. Tuono 125 was amazing but went with the RS125 purely due to looks and have ridden over 6 hour journeys on it great. It has the same frame as the bigger bikes, so it even looks similar to an RSV4 (until you hear it lol). Great bike
6'3" and 250 lbs, i started on the S1000XR. 4 years and 100k kms later, i still love my bike. BIL started on versys 650. He states that the XR is the easier bike of the two.
6ft 2 and 240lbs fit just fine on an XVS650 classic with profiler seat and 14 inch highballs.. I admit the power leaves me wanting more at times, but it's plenty comfortable with the minor inexpensive mods.
I'am 197cm (6,5") and bought a BMW F900R. i really like naked bikes and the F900R has the possibilty to install a original higher comfort seat up to 86cm (34 inches)
6ft6 here, kawa versys 650. Im chilling with it. Dont listen to the haters, try it out if you are in the market for a bike and you're tall :) Also the vstrom is big enough and most ktm bikes in the same type. But those are expansive.
Love that you did this, I think either a Dual Sport would be good, love to also look into a used Fatboy also due to the one I'm looking at have forward controls 👍
Great video, a good honorable mention would have been the VFR800! What do you think? Also, ever heard of the 2007 BMW G650 XChallenge? The tallest seat height of any bike I've ever ridden, most people below 5'11" can't ride it comfortably unless you hang a cheek off the seat to put a foot down.
Great timing Yam. I have been toiling away online trying to narrow down what I want. At 6’1” 270 and being built like a linebacker, I look like a clown on the “cool bikes” and I’m bored with riding Harley or my Multistrada. I want something fun, friendly ergo, and for the love of god nothing that is going to cost me $500 min for a basic service.
The XR650L I owned was one of most fun bikes I've had. TALL and plenty of power for a big one-lunger, hauled my 6'1" 230lbs around with ease. But, "Let me tell you about my FJR1300" LOL!
I'm 5'8" 176lbs and am seriously wanting to get a gen 2 Busa 2013+ been riding for 13 yrs now and currently we love riding our 2015 Carbon Diavel, a Busa just seems like a good stable mate hahah
Day 1 of MSF today, on the tallest bike they had, a CRF300LS. I'm 6'5"/235lbs and would say I probably will be getting a bigger bike, maybe a regular CRF300L or larger.
1m92 (or 6'4" for american) and a begginer (so no GT for me, yet). I found all Suzuki surprisingly fitting and bought a GSX-8S as my first bike. I assume the 8R will fit as well. Thank your suzuki for not making knee destroyer gas tank.
Some good older cheaper bikes for tall riders - Gen2 Busa, Honda VTX1800, Honda XR650L, I have all three. My honorable mentions - Gen1 Suzuki Bandit1200, Kawasaki KLR650. I'm 6'9" 240lbs.
I want to get back into motorcycling from a 30-year hiatus I'm 6 ft 2 and 260 and would love to have something sporty especially the new Aprilia 457 I haven't sat on one but I know it would be too cramped
I'm 6'2" and thinking about starting to ride. I knew I would have to watch out for my height but hadn't heard anywhere about the weight as well ( I'm 200 lb). I guess my dreams of getting a Ninja 500 are going to stay exactly that, dreams ahah
Hey yammie any chance we see more cruiser content. I am really interested in what you guys think about the Indian chief since you guys liked the scout so much
Im 6.2 and 300lbs (yeah yeah), going for my first bike. I love cruiser looks but i hate bigger cruisers for sluggish controls. Really dig Rebel looks, and Indinad Scout too, but i am afraid they will be too little for me (Rebel especially). And i am not into dualsport looks at all, like really. Considering i am 43 yo emotions kinda matters, i want to love the looks of something between my legs, srsly. Gonna spend some time at a dealership contemplaining life i guess.
The Yamaha Tracer 7 is a superb choice for a large beginner. It's more lively and sporty than the Versys and has the excellent CP2 motor. Unfortunately, I don't believe it's available in the US but we get it here in the civilised world
I’m a 6’0” 250lb 18 yr old and haven’t ridden a bike before. I wanna get into riding but I need a beginner bike that could accommodate me. Any suggestions?
I rode my buddy's R3 home for him from another friend's that he bought it from. I'm 5'10 and 180lbs, not exactly a big guy. I felt so dam cramped on that bike.
My Problem with most bikes is peg to seat height. I have rather long legs and crappy knees. My legs just feel cramped. I’ve had ninja 250s, xr150L and a shadow 600.
i'm a small guy, 5'6" only, ... but ride my 2023 XDiavel with some ease ... ! there's some discomfort while cornering or U-turns, as the wide handle-bar is somewhat out of reach for a short man with short hands, like meself...!
would love to own the R1300GS as i don't have an ADV ...... already own 2022 Gen 3 Hayabusa (sport-tourer, not really though; also known as Beluga Whale), Scrambler 400X, Trident 660 (roadster, naked), the Greatest Grand-Tourer = Goldwing is another dream bike
As a person with the A2 curse and a 6.3 length i came down to a cb500x its nice but a bit small i dreamt of an afrika twin but those feel even smaller but the bike is as big as a building like HOW Luckely moto guzzi makes the v85tt i fit on that like a glove so that is what i will go for when im a max level motorist
I'm 6'3" 185 and I've been riding for over 14 years and I've passed up buying certain bikes because being cramped up on a bike is a pass for me. First time I sat on a CBR600RR I was like NOPE. That said I've only ever owned 2 naked bikes being a MT07 and MT09 SP. While the rest have been middleweight sportbikes or litre bikes. Aftermarket rear sets are a God send for taller riders.
@@PapZoltan99 It was when I was looking to buy my first street bike over 14 years ago. I had years of experience offroad with dirt bikes so starting out on a 600cc wasn't a bad idea. I sat on a Gixxer and hated the in the bike feel, then the CBR600RR and didn't like the cramped up feel with the rear sets. So I moved onto a R6 and it just felt right. At the time I was a idiot to swapping rear sets for a more comfortable rider triangle. Now with a few years of track riding I appreciate a full race riding triangle. Maybe I'll reconsider a CBR600RR one day but I recently bought another R6 so won't be in the near future. That said I've heard good things about the new CBR600RR.
At 6'4", about 230 pounds, I rode a 2019 Ninja 650 for a couple years and was more than happy with it, despite upgrading to the Ninja 1000sx. If I had room for 2 bikes, I'd have kept the 650.
Did you feel a big difference between the 650 and 1000sx? I'm 6'2 and I ride a 650. I'm looking at ADV (like Tuareg 660), but also 1000sx. Do you feel more comfy? Or still look like a giant on a tricycle?
@@rabahk.7089 At 6'4", about 230 pounds, I'm definitely more comfy on the N1K. I don't think I'll ever sell it. I still look a tad big on it, but tbh I don't care. It works so well for what it is and what I want that it's perfect for me.

Bullshit harley makes a bike for bigger guys, all the softails I (6'2) sat on were made for dudes that are like 5'9, if I want to fit comfortably I need to spend even more than the ridiculous price of a harley. But yet I fit great on my MT09

I'm 6 ft 2 and 300 lb, can you suggest anything pre-owned that is less than $5,000 that I can find that I'll be comfortable on? Thanks
Love my Cardo Pack Talk Edge.
Kind of surprised KTM wasn’t mentioned. Their whole range seems set up for people over 6’ tall. No lowered suspension options, no 5/6 scale bikes over 250cc available (looking at you Honda 500s).
Right! I’m 6’3” but I feel at home when on my KTM 690
S1000R is a good big bike too. I'm 6'1" and it fits me perfectly.
for anyone in the uk/eu just starting out on 125cc bikes:
6'4", and I found the aprilia's 125's the most comfortable among the street bikes range.
6’3 and daily a Ducati Hypermotard 950sp
I'am 197cm (6,5") and bought a BMW F900R. i really like naked bikes and the F900R has the possibilty to install a original higher comfort seat up to 86cm (34 inches)
Thank you for this. 6'7 here. Not an adv fan. I wish each manufacturer would design one bike for Taller riders.
Super Meteor ?
6ft6 here, kawa versys 650.
Im chilling with it. Dont listen to the haters, try it out if you are in the market for a bike and you're tall :)
Also the vstrom is big enough and most ktm bikes in the same type.
As a 5'7 dude i found this quite helpful
Day 1 of MSF today, on the tallest bike they had, a CRF300LS. I'm 6'5"/235lbs and would say I probably will be getting a bigger bike, maybe a regular CRF300L or larger.
The reason the height graph is not a smooth curve is because the 5’11” guys claimed to be 6’
1m92 (or 6'4" for american) and a begginer (so no GT for me, yet). I found all Suzuki surprisingly fitting and bought a GSX-8S as my first bike. I assume the 8R will fit as well. Thank your suzuki for not making knee destroyer gas tank.
Do a video for tall riders, I’m 201cm tall or 6’8 I think
PLEASEE
How about a giraffe?
Some good older cheaper bikes for tall riders - Gen2 Busa, Honda VTX1800, Honda XR650L, I have all three. My honorable mentions - Gen1 Suzuki Bandit1200, Kawasaki KLR650. I'm 6'9" 240lbs.
Nah Yam, don't stop talking about the Hayabusa. We love the memes and we love the bike.😂
Suzuki boulevard m109r is another good one for bigger riders
yes, Intruder M1800R B.O.S.S.
I'm 5 11 330 and I feel very comfortable on my boulevard C50
I want to get back into motorcycling from a 30-year hiatus I'm 6 ft 2 and 260 and would love to have something sporty especially the new Aprilia 457 I haven't sat on one but I know it would be too cramped
I'm 6'2" and thinking about starting to ride. I knew I would have to watch out for my height but hadn't heard anywhere about the weight as well ( I'm 200 lb). I guess my dreams of getting a Ninja 500 are going to stay exactly that, dreams ahah
Well being tall has many Positive attributes comma It does seem like many motorcycles are built for a short Japanese guys
I’m 6.3 and I have a scrambler 1200 xe great bike
I am six foot six, and I own a 2023 yamaha.M t 09 s p. Are there any rear sets or foot pegs out there that I can lower and get more legroom room?
Spraying sparks!!! I thought I was gonna die laughing…
5:51 But what about a 6'1 American man who weighs 165lbs?
6’5 240- mt07 is once again the answer.
I'm big and tall. It's a stupid life, but I do recommend the Versys 650, it's boring, but gets the job done.
Thanks
The Yamaha Tracer 7 is a superb choice for a large beginner. It's more lively and sporty than the Versys and has the excellent CP2 motor.
Unfortunately, I don't believe it's available in the US but we get it here in the civilised world
I purchased a Yamaha fz6r and its very comfortable even though its a sporty bike
I’m a 6’0” 250lb 18 yr old and haven’t ridden a bike before. I wanna get into riding but I need a beginner bike that could accommodate me. Any suggestions?
Any ktm is fine if I’m being honest I’m 6ft3 and ride a duke 125
Did you mix up the words beginner and bigger several times?
i am a 6'3 man, will a 780 mm, 1415 mm wheelbase sportbike fit me?
Take a look on Hero Xpulse 200 4V. extremely small displacement one according to US standard's but nice little bike for taller riders..
Only 6'1 - I used to play basketball in college and felt tiny, now riding motorcycles I feel like a giant
I rode my buddy's R3 home for him from another friend's that he bought it from. I'm 5'10 and 180lbs, not exactly a big guy. I felt so dam cramped on that bike.
What is a bigger or shorter rider ? Im ~5'11" 180pounds and i don't know if I should look for a bigger bike to begin or smaller one
6ft 250 ride a fatboy n its great ! tryna save up for a BUSA as well..ahhhh that would be heaven! 😃👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
there's some discomfort while cornering or U-turns, as the wide handle-bar is somewhat out of reach for a short man with short hands, like meself...!
would love to own the R1300GS as i don't have an ADV ...... already own 2022 Gen 3 Hayabusa (sport-tourer, not really though; also known as Beluga Whale), Scrambler 400X, Trident 660 (roadster, naked),
the Greatest Grand-Tourer = Goldwing is another dream bike
Tracer 9 GT
Scrambler 1200 XE
S1000XR
H2 SX SE
are other interesting bikes
At 6'3" 280lbs, I still enjoy my ninja 250 and feel I fit it fairily well. Is it as comfortable as my klr650? No. But I enjoy it none the less 😁
6'4 and the Hayabusa was perfect for me.
As somebody 6'3" 240 pounds, i can only really comfortably fit on adventure bikes
As a person with the A2 curse and a 6.3 length i came down to a cb500x its nice but a bit small
i dreamt of an afrika twin but those feel even smaller but the bike is as big as a building like HOW
Luckely moto guzzi makes the v85tt i fit on that like a glove so that is what i will go for when im a max level motorist
Is there a reason the honda cb509x is not on the list ?
Surprised that the Honda 650 Dual Sport wasn’t mentioned.
I’m 6’0 155lbs and looking for my first bike. Still not sure what to look for
I started on a quite heavily modified rz500. Wouldn't trade it for anything. Im 6'7".
Why did you noped out on the CBR600RR? I am same size/weight as you, and want to buy the 24' 600rr.
I’m 6’7” 265 and I want to get a bike I just don’t know which one to get. I’m thinking the first suggestion.
Hey Yams, doing a cross-country trip in 2025, looking for recommendations for the best/most reliable bike (under $6K) to take 10,000 miles...Not sure if you have done a vid like this before, at least since I have been subbed. My current ride is a 2012 Triumph Street triple R...
I'm 6'9 300lb the M109r is the best i found to ride
At 6' 300lbs, I'm planning to get a CBR 500 X as my first bike.
Nah bro it's like a put xs preservative in a black porn hub pp, I'm 6'4 and like 290lb I drove her when I searched for an a2 bike, it's quite uncomfortable and it's relatively Small, is the biggest of the category but remains a lot tiny expecially for the leg
Bullshit harley makes a bike for bigger guys, all the softails I (6'2) sat on were made for dudes that are like 5'9, if I want to fit comfortably I need to spend even more than the ridiculous price of a harley. But yet I fit great on my MT09
...rode a H-D full dresser cuz I looked like John Wayne on a shetland pony on everything else!😊
Triumph Rocket 3 should get a special mention.
My S1000RR holds my 6'0 285lb fat ass perfectly. Super comfortable to ride.
Lamb chops did over 600 miles in a day on an rr
