Finding a reliable sitter for any animal is hard. After going through a few bad fits (they came with recommendations from friends but didn't meet my expectations), I found one that does this as a full time job. He's way more expensive but, the peace of mind is worth every dime.
Thank you for not using rodenticide! That's so important for the environment. (When birds of prey eat rodents killed with pesticide, they can get sick and die or their babies die, which means fewer birds of prey to eat the rodents which actually leads to more rodents overall!)
My friend’s dog ate a rat on their property that someone else poisoned. Her dog didn’t survive.Poison isn’t a great way to go if the rodents can walk a ways.
Brilliant! I'd been hoping to see more of Huckleberry, and here's a whole day of him being a good boy "helping"! My favorite part was him playing fetch across the stream. But the whole video was good, it was great to see a lot of the chores and a bit of time with the horses, plus supervisor Tiny!

Not to mention all the chores that go with cleaning up the property daily, locating, picking up and delivering feed and hay to the property, and making sure the shaky plate is in good working order! we learned lax ligaments are related to mineral deficiency of manganese. of course one just does not add manganese by itself but from a food source. this is old (vintage) veterinarian stuff. can look for references if you are interested. thanks for your 'work'

The black birds look like grackles. When they migrate, it looks like a "grackle river" in the sky - sometimes it stretches all the way across the sky: spectacular! Ooooh - look how close to 100K subscribers you are! This month for sure!
People tend to confuse grackles with starlings. Starlings are the short squat birds with speckles. Grackles are a little more sleek and shiny and have yellow eyes.
When you live in a city like Austin, TX, it’s not so wonderful to hear them (so concentrated) and not slip in the bird poop. And it’s a substantial amount of bird poop. They roost in the trees on campus (Univ. of TX at Austin worked there for 18 years) and make one holy mess all over the sidewalks - sat the capitol 3 blocks away. One year, the guys at Maintenance shot off blanks during the grackles’ roosting time so they’d go roost somewhere else. It never worked permanently. They are a protected species so blanks was about all one could do.
You and Huckleberry must be exhausted after your long days, very hard work looking after so many horses, dog and cat. I'm sure you all sleep very well. I hope you find your forever home and land soon. Look after yourself C.C ❤❤❤❤❤

CC, thank you for setting a shining example of proper animal care. I truly care about you. PLEASE stop using your back as a lever. ALL lifting training says lift from your knees. Back straight, squat, lift. Extend your work life. You have a lot to do. Back surgery is excruciating, and then you can't work. Ask me. Rig up a pallet jack thing. Use a long pole lever to roll those things off. You wouldn't treat a horse's back like that.
I use round bales and I get old leaky stock tanks, cut the bottoms out and put them over the netted bales. The rounded edge is safe. When the net is almost empty, I remove it and they clean it up pretty good. I hope you find a nice place. 🐴🐕

You're talking about freezing weather, but today we got a prediction for a (low category, minor damage expected) hurricane to come ashore in the middle coast of Louisiana....probably to hit land on Thursday. I just put in a delivery order for bottled water, colas, snack foods and lots of cans of Vienna Sausages! It's garbage but it's great hurricane food. And a new deck of cards to play solitaire, more flashlights, batteries & candles. No matter where you live, if it ain't one thing then it's another !
I'm a tribal member from Lake county with the best views that there are I usually would never say anything to an outsider but I like you and there is one on round butte road with a house on it with irrigation which is outside of ronan close to the ranch I live on sooooo just saying❤

It's an instinctual urge to camouflage their smell to facilitate hunting.
Land prices are insane everywhere I think. Here in Michigan it goes for between 8-10 thousand an acre and the smaller the parcel the higher it goes.
In Flemish we call those birds "Kauwen", they live in very big families. They arrive in big quantities. And they "talk" a lot :-D
Is Kauwen a species name or a description of behavior? I tried to look it up with no luck. I think they are Brewer's Blackbirds, which as far as I know doesn't occur in Europe.

You're talking about freezing weather, but today we got a prediction for a (low category, minor damage expected) hurricane to come ashore in the middle coast of Louisiana....probably to hit land on Thursday. I just put in a delivery order for bottled water, colas, snack foods and lots of cans of Vienna Sausages! It's garbage but it's great hurricane food. And a new deck of cards to play solitaire, more flashlights, batteries & candles. No matter where you live, if it ain't one thing then it's another !
