I think it's perfectly fine that the dogs eat the hooves - they know what they need. And Hambre is doing so well!!! Wonderful progress! You are so kind. Ray is fabulous to watch, and he certainly doesn't need anyone to help him! Thank you so much, this is wonderful.💖
With everything he’s been threw there is the possibility his right front is hurting a bit in that slightly tilted angle. I wouldn’t doubt he will need a chiropractor once he’s gained more. ❤
Ray is the very best ... Prepares the nervous and first timers to hoof care for a life of being comfortable with hoof care... And yes my dogs have always eaten hoof traimings
You can see how Hambre responds so well to Ray!! When Ray lets a hoof go and walks away, Hambre walks toward him! His ears come forward to Ray! This is incredible. Obviously he knows he's in good hands with Ray!! Great work there training a young one!!
I see that Hambre's right side is stiffer than the left one. Horses, like people, have a better side and a stiffer side. In general, as a first time, Hambre is doing fantastic!
You chose the right farrier to work with Hambre, Ray is so patient with him giving him time to learn what is needed from him. Our dogs used to love chewing on horse hoof trimmings too, the farrier would toss them over to the dogs, and after he was done the dogs would go and sniff around for any bits they missed. Our farrier used to say it was good for their teeth. I just noticed Hambre has little feathers on his feet, cute!
Ray does have a great skill being a Farrier and having great patience and Ombre did wonderful getting Trimmed. Alan your Red Roan Stallion 66 Foals from Martin's Quarter Horses look beautiful.
Love to watch a experienced shoer he is a master handling that young inexperienced colt just waited for him to trust him and colt did. Great job! All like it was no big deal what a pro shoer amazing to watch him.
as a child i volunteered at a local riding stables and whenever the farrier was there, the farm dog was straight there to eat up the discarded hoof pieces.
Dogs love hooves. All my life anytime we shoe or trim horses the dogs are ready for the trimmings. Anyone who has both horses and dogs knows it’s normal
Wow ! I just learned something I didn’t know . But I do know this ( my vitamins that I get from the health store has ground up bone hoofs in them. Like buffalo 🦬. Look it up ! So I’m sure it’s ok for the dogs 🐕. Plus, this man isn’t go to do anything that would harm any of his animals. He loves 💕 them !
Ray is so gentle with Hambre and that is so good to see. My cattle dog loves to eat the off cuts from the horses hooves every time they get done. I would guess Ray is 45 yrs old.
Ray is a horseman. He is calm, uses the best tools to give Hambre a solid foundation and keep himself from being injured. Have used this same technique for years. Dogs can eat the hooves, actually good for them, but after the farrier is done. Particularly when working a new horse. Keep the dogs away, protect your farrier❣️❣️ Good vlog though. 💕🤗 PS It’s rasping not filing🤪
I’ve seen that before watching farriers, where the area dogs love love love to eat the hooves! That’s a good natural treat for dogs, who are predators, though we often forget since wolves have been domesticated to the point where we can no longer recognize their nature in our canine friends.
I served a mission in Bolivia 45 years ago and everywhere I went people sold cow hooves in the mercados! People loved them, they would boil them and extract the gelatin to eat. Maybe horse hooves are a source of gelatin that the dogs enjoy? Ray is amazing! Another horse whisperer, like Gilbert! 🤠
Ray is skilled. He did a fantastic first time trim for Hambre. This yearing is willing to trust. Impressive. First time trim. Toue encouragement gentes him down considerablyso good to see him improoving so much. He is an awesome little horse!❤❤ 😅
Never had a problem with the dog's eating hoof trimming..Ray is awesome..when you have a great farrier, horses do awesome...look good for your age Ray😉.
And they LOVE REAL RAW human grade meats too. Been feeding RAW meat to my Aussies, for over 26 years now. And quit vaccinating, about 20+ years ago. Now, much healthier and happier. NO junk food kibble here. Starting a new Aussie puppy on RAW...
Great video. You teach us how to give great loving care of horses. Thank you for saving them. Ray is wonderful. His gentle approach with Hambre is amazing to watch. 🎉🎉😊
Wow!!!!! This was impressive for both Ray and Ombre....Ray is a master!!!! I would have guessed he was 40! Being a farrier is very, very hard work but this technique was awesome! Ombre did very, very well for his first time...what a trooper. Most dogs love the hoof trimmings....I have no idea why people would think that is objectionable, dogs love bones, rawhides etc.
I have had a few issues with the hoof eating. They've gotten stuck across the back of their teeth at the base of the tongue. Also I can't stand to have them crowding around when the farrier is trying to work so my dogs are always in the house at those times. They can eat the little shavings but not the hard outer ring of hoof. Hambre seems to be a patient, trusting guy. Can't wait to see him in the future.
People sometimes eat their nails... dogs like the hooves due to the odor (including poop smell). The hoof contains calcium, protein and biotin. It's actually good for them. The only thing to be careful about would be hooves that have been treated for things like thrush or polish. Keep munching pups!
Hooves are made of keretin, a protein. Same as horns & fingernails. Dogs will do the same around cattle, sheep and goats when hooves are trimmed. The dogs are doing what dogs do; free treats. Ray is great to watch and learn from.👏😊
You are so lucky he is willing to work with your horse. Some farriers expect your horse to be worked with and especially their feet before they will trim your horses feet. Great job to you all. And thank you for sharing. Hopefully others can use this technique on their own horse.
Awe such wonderful work Ray, and WTG Hombre!! You're such a sweet, brave boy! We Love you and we are So Proud of you!! I think it's Fantastic that you have no issue letting your dogs have the special treat of horse hooves! I believe they are a Nutritious, great, chewy treat for the pups! I am So happy that I've found such a normal, rational, wonderful ranch family to follow. I love your channel,(tin barn farm too) you truly are the Best! ❤🙏
I love the quiet, gentle way Ray works with the horse. He is a master at his trade.
Ray is a patient and kind farrier, but lets congratulate Hambre on being brave, thinking and being a very good lad. Well done all round.
Dogs love horse hooves! You buy all sorts of hooves for treats!
Absolutely lots of info here! Thank you and Rey for this basic lesson!! I owe you!
You are so lucky to have such a ferrier that takes such time to teach a yearling how to get his hooves trimmed
No way he’s 60!! Congratulations!!!!! I can’t bend like that for that amount of time 😆
Ray is a horseman. He understands the brain of the horse and works w the horse. Well done!
Hambre has a good mind he is working it out… … and Ray is just awesome
Sorry, but the horse's name is spelled HOMBRE...
Ray is a good farrier. Hes awesome. And Hombre has done an awesome job for his first time.
Ray's energy must be amazing. So wonderful to see his quiet way of working with a horse.
Ray is a 60 yr old young man with a gift for horses!
The hoof trimmings are actually very good for their teeth. It keeps their teeth clean.
Yeah, I see no harm in it. Aren't deer antlers essentially made of the same minerals?
Ray is so amazing the way he works with the frightened horses!
❤❤❤ This is so amazing. Ray is patient and kind.
What a great horse and how Ray is able to calm the horse down.
Amazing and interesting at the same time…
Ray is 60yrs is fantastic for a farrier!!
Ray does such a fantastic job trimming skidish horses. He is calm and does things slowly like getting them used to the big soft rope❤❤❤❤
I didn’t realize he’s just a yearling😢
Ray is so kind and gentle. And kudos to you for rescuing this precious little guy👏❤️
That is one calm sweet colt. He is amazingly well behaved.
Ray really knows to trim a horse. He's amazing
Hooves are the most greatest think for dogs to chew on. Helps with their teeth and gums.
I like Ray's patience. I bet he's seen a lot in his years. Good boy, Hambre. Your stallion's babies are lovely, Alan!
He seems to have this attitude of, "Well, this is weird, but so far, everything has been good since I came here."
Ray did a fantastic job and he doesn’t look 60.
Hambre is doing amazing for his first time with a farrier!
..glad he is still alive and looking so much better since you got him❤
With everything he’s been threw there is the possibility his right front is hurting a bit in that slightly tilted angle. I wouldn’t doubt he will need a chiropractor once he’s gained more. ❤
Wow! Ray is amazing. I can’t believe he’s 60!
Hombre did, really well, considering the environment he came from!
Give that boy a treat! And Hambre, too. 😉👏
My dog stands by and snatches the horses trimmings . Lol. They absolutely LOVE them.
Ray is the very best ... Prepares the nervous and first timers to hoof care for a life of being comfortable with hoof care... And yes my dogs have always eaten hoof traimings
Important for clean frog care- it’s the cushion for the foot.
Nothing like a navajo farrier...awesome
You can see how Hambre responds so well to Ray!! When Ray lets a hoof go and walks away, Hambre walks toward him! His ears come forward to Ray! This is incredible. Obviously he knows he's in good hands with Ray!! Great work there training a young one!!
Hombre is fortunate to have Ray as his first ferrier!
I’m just happy hombre only suffered for a year, now this life will be a great one, poor little guy .. 🥰
Ray is such a wonderful guy with horses. It is great to see!
I see that Hambre's right side is stiffer than the left one. Horses, like people, have a better side and a stiffer side. In general, as a first time, Hambre is doing fantastic!
It is amazing how far he has come along. He trusts you.
This was fantastic for me to see. I'm one who doesn't know much about horses, so yeah, it's a good education for me while entertaining.
this is a more (or less) very good natural technic to learn how to give up the hoofs..❤❤❤
I enjoyed this video, Ray is amazing to be so kind and gentle with Ombre
You chose the right farrier to work with Hambre, Ray is so patient with him giving him time to learn what is needed from him. Hombre did great, thanks to Ray! I thought Ray was around 45 yrs old!
That horse is going to be beautiful when he starts to feel out!! Love his coloring. Ombre did a good job for a first timer
We grew up this way and I'm 65! Dogs live and die and ours lived sometimes 15-20 years
Wow patience all around!! Hambre is looking fabulous!! ❤❤❤
❤ Please like and Share ❤We want to continue to watch this Beautiful Family Grow ❤
Ombre tried his best to do good 😊 can't believe Ray is 60😊he don't look half that age❤
as a child i volunteered at a local riding stables and whenever the farrier was there, the farm dog was straight there to eat up the discarded hoof pieces.
Ray is maybe 50. Love the way he works with the horses. Wow look at the experience. 😊😊😊

I’m more knowledgeable on the subject now .
Plus I think it’s kinda sweet that they see it as a treat 🐕🐴
Hambre was pretty calm with Ray. Very impressed. So glad this young guy is getting a second chance ❤ For first time...pretty good results ...
Ray is so gentle with Hambre and that is so good to see. My cattle dog loves to eat the off cuts from the horses hooves every time they get done. I would guess Ray is 45 yrs old.

Humble and Ray worked very well together!🎉

I’m devoted to Hambre and Luna’s story. ❤
Ray is a real horseman. This was fun to watch thank you
Ray seems like a very talented and patient ferrier. Thank you, Ray, for taking such good care of my favorite, Hambre ❤.
Good Boy, Hambre 🤗

Like the name 66. It goes back a long way. We traveled 66 going to grandma's in Cement and Chi kasha. Telling my age. Am loving watching.
Thank you for watching!
Hambre was better than expected. Good job.
Excellent job Ray
Thanks you Ray
Dog's love hoofs.

hambre actually went to ray to be close to him, he must have that horse way about him that they are attracted to.
Well done ombre ,ray was brilliant ❤
It’s very interesting to see how the horses are cared for. There’s definitely a lot of skill involved.
I really appreciate the job your farrier is doing
Well done Ray! Ombre us being really good too seeing as it's his first time and he came untouched! 😊
Great video. You teach us how to give great loving care of horses. Thank you for saving them. Ray is wonderful. His gentle approach with Hambre is amazing to watch. 🎉🎉😊

Ray is amazing!
Wish I had known some of his ways working with horses when I was breaking and shoeing horses 50 years ago 😢
Hamba is being very brave for his first hoof trimming and the farrier he is very good at he's job can't wait for the next video 📸❤❤❤
He will be a beautiful well mannered horse one day. Ray is a blessing. All draft horses have feather legs.😊❤🎉
I just can’t wait until hombres personality comes Out..
I have had a few issues with the hoof eating. They've gotten stuck across the back of their teeth at the base of the tongue. I think that horse could be amazing! Feed him and watch him grow!
I enjoy watching your dog’s interest in watching the farrier.😀
If a 6 " piece of duck tape is put just above the nostrils on the bridge it calms the horse and can do the trims because they are fixated on the tape.

Ray is a hoof whisperer! ❤️🤎❤️
(I was getting nervous with the dogs so close to Ombre’s rear legs 🫣)
My dogs love the hoof trimmings 😂. Such excitement when the farrier comes 😂
He works like ans moves around like a young man!
Ray did well and Hambre seems to be pretty level-headed.

Ray should charge $50 for triming and $50 for training a first time training session
I’ve been around horses all my life. And our dogs always ate the hoof trims!
