Thank you so much Keola Beamer, your whole family and markwitz for the "The Beauty of Mauna Kea." This presentation touched my heart and soul. Me ke aloha pumehana, Robert S.J. Hu March 18, 2022.
Brings tears to my eyes. I first saw Keola perform in Waikiki in the 70’s; 30 years later I was privileged to study slack key guitar twice with him at the Aloha Music Camp. I’ll always hold those times in my heart.
Beautiful and mesmerizing. I played the original version on KGU in the 70's, but this is so much richer, the vocals and the nose-flute are almost hypnotic. You've aged well my friend !!!
I still have his first album. We have been playing his Guava Tree in our family for years. We play it much differently but it has always been a family favorite .
Was great to meet you and R Carlos at Dartmouth College and your great legendary concert! This piece was incredible to hear the wonderful nose flute with your dream guitars! love your slack key Keola C
Keola Beamer, You are always a delight, and make me chuckle.. This song resonates in my mind and memory. I have been honored to be allowed to photograph you and the photos are precious to me.. Mahalo for your gift of music and beautiful Hula by Moanalani Always Aloha Lea in Seattle
I've admired hula since the 1st time - Keola & his extraordinary wife Moanalani Beamer shows us how hula is the complete expression of beauty & majesty of our mauna a wakea. Her hula takes us into nature to define the Splendor & Regal movements of our aina & our high regard for it. Hula of Ancient, hula of change, hula of Love for our hawai'i nei. imua kakou e hawai'i nei malama 'e oni pa'a ……………………………………….. *
Thank you so much. I hardly find the words to Express my feelings. I am going to some very hard times, some times, when you wish to fall asleep and don't wake up. But in your music I can find some soothing energy, that help me to accept my situation and carry on. Believing, that someday everything will be ok again. Thank you so much for that. I cannot explain why and how, even though I have never been to the islands of hawai'i I feel such a strong connection to the language, the words, the music, the history, the tales, the people. I hope to visit Hawai'i soon.
I carry you always, mountain, like a heart in me that is beating to a rhythm strong as the season that carries you like an infant. Like a heart on fire, mountain, like a frozen flame of dreaming, like an avalanche of desire that is had by the long, dark instant. I am carried with you, mountain, on centrifugal weathers of greening. Up from the crystal torrent, shot from the stalk of adamant. In love with our nemesis, mountain - birth of the death that claims us - let us stalk the bright fields of heaven, the cold cloud fields of heaven, where the wind has it in for us, mountain. Rare with the songs of our dreaming, let us embrace the season, strong, to awaken the dormant.
Fun Fact. Mount Everest is the tallest mountain above sea level, while Mauna Kea can certainly claim to be the world's tallest mountain (when sea level isn't taken into account)

There aren't words to tell you how much I appreciate this. Mahalo, Norman!
Absolutely wonderful and beautiful...I am a rugged outdoorsman and kinda hard around the edges yet this song put a tear in my eye, it touched my soul.
