I watched this video 45 days ago, I wasn't able to do 1 perfect Pull Up! Now, I can do 5 reps in 3 sets perfect Pull Ups! I just worked Negatives and Scapula Pulls. Thanks Guys !

*Correction for Tapp Brothers*: scapula is a bone (we have two of them). They don't generate power nor strength. The organs that perform that are the muscles. A muscle worked on the scapula pullup (and even regular pullup) is the latissimus dorsi (lats), which is a long muscle in the back. This muscle moves the scapula, but the scapula doesn't move by itself. However, the information is appreciated.
they just called it scapula pull ups to reference the bones needing to be in the proper posture. without proper form you can't gain the full power your muscles are using.

Not to mention, when doing inverted rows. Do normal ones, close grip (Hands are practically touching) , and wide grip (hands are as far apart as comfortably able to). These help build muscles in that area and can really increase your muscle but you have to do the same amount of reps of 8 to 10 in each grip

Good advice but if you cant do a pull up its easier to wrap your thumb under the bar. I noticed you didnt if you think that helps then yeah go ahead but when i did my first pull up its was much easier to get grip and contract the under side of my forarm using more muscles to help thank you! I acquired the ability to do pull up by lifting weights about 15 months. When the weight I was lifting exceeded 2/3 my body weight, I tried doing a pull up. I was able to do two. Within a month I was able to do five. After a few more months I'm able to do seven.
I was 120kg could not do even 1 chinup light years away from it. The thing i did was doing weighted hold chinups with my chin over the bar. I held for 10seconds x3sets 1time /week. I started with 5kg then added more weight, when i reached 15kg 10sec holdx3set i was almost able to do 1chinup. Then i lost like 3-5kg weight and i was able to pull off 1 real chinup pretty easy. Try this guys if you have problem with chinups. And yes im talking about chinups because they are waay easier then pullup and shud be the starting point since you probably cant even do a chinup. So doing weighted holds and loose some weight (if you can) made a 120kg 196cm out of shape dude make it. Im convinced that if i had continue until i was able to do holds with 20kg weight added i would probably not even need to loose any weight.

I am 6'1" tall and weigh 300 pounds. a pull up is nearly impossible for me but your exercises are useful for eventually getting there. Maybe you should mention weight issues when starting your exercises.

What's the difference between holding the bar palms towards you, palms away from you, narrow grip (hands head width apart) and wide grip (hands shoulder width apart)?
I think using an exercise band (attached to the pull up bar somehow and put one foot through it) to take some of your body weight would help a beginner.
Band-assisted pull ups may seem like a good idea but personally I've found little success in it, as it creates uneven support throughout the exercise. It gives alot of support in the beginning of the pull up, which is where most people struggle. If you have support at that stage of the pull up youre not building enough muscle. I find negative pull ups and inverted rows work much better. Bands can be good for improving your pull up technique though.

Some useful tips and exercises; the slow release is the more important part of the exercise. Might be better if you started with the actual exercises: just show them. You do get to them reasonably quickly, compared to some other vids! Far too many others spend three to five minutes waving their hands and working out their mandibular muscle groups. We can SEE, so get into the explanation after the demonstration.
What I learned from my parkour instructors is you want to use your shoulder muscles and triceps to do pull ups instead of chest and biceps. Try pulling in your elbows back and squeeze using those shoulder muscles as if you're trying to hold a pencil by squeezing those two shoulder muscles together while attempting a pull up! Hope that helps. Train safe!

Ahh! I wanna start training for anw again and I am not great at pull ups. I can do seven though. I started being able to do four. I would do sets of five. I made circuit at home... lunge jumps, burpees with tuck jumps, hand stand push ups, pike ups...and I do pull ups on the tree in our back yard. sometimes back tucks on the airtrack as "fun" conditioning...I can do handstands for a pretty long time and tumble though...but ya I am hoping to compete again this year. Ok thanks for the tips! :)...how often do you train? How hard do you push yourselves? like challenged but not dead is good? ...

*Correction for Tapp Brothers*: scapula is a bone (we have two of them). They don't generate power nor strength. The organs that perform that are the muscles. A muscle worked on the scapula pullup (and even regular pullup) is the latissimus dorsi (lats), which is a long muscle in the back. This muscle moves the scapula, but the scapula doesn't move by itself. However, the information is appreciated.

Not to mention, when doing inverted rows. Do normal ones, close grip (Hands are practically touching) , and wide grip (hands are as far apart as comfortably able to). These help build muscles in that area and can really increase your muscle but you have to do the same amount of reps of 8 to 10 in each grip

Good advice but if you cant do a pull up its easier to wrap your thumb under the bar. I noticed you didnt if you think that helps then yeah go ahead but when i did my first pull up its was much easier to get grip and contract the under side of my forarm using more muscles to help thank you! I acquired the ability to do pull up by lifting weights about 15 months. When the weight I was lifting exceeded 2/3 my body weight, I tried doing a pull up. I was able to do two. Within a month I was able to do five. After a few more months I'm able to do seven.

I was 120kg could not do even 1 chinup light years away from it. The thing i did was doing weighted hold chinups with my chin over the bar. I held for 10seconds x3sets 1time /week. I started with 5kg then added more weight, when i reached 15kg 10sec holdx3set i was almost able to do 1chinup. Then i lost like 3-5kg weight and i was able to pull off 1 real chinup pretty easy. Try this guys if you have problem with chinups. And yes im talking about chinups because they are waay easier then pullup and shud be the starting point since you probably cant even do a chinup.
So doing weighted holds and loose some weight (if you can) made a 120kg 196cm out of shape dude make it. Im convinced that if i had continue until i was able to do holds with 20kg weight added i would probably not even need to loose any weight.

I found you need to strengthen your forearm to be able to do a pull up. Hammer curls or inverted curls should help strengthen them

I am 6'1" tall and weigh 300 pounds. a pull up is nearly impossible for me but your exercises are useful for eventually getting there. Maybe you should mention weight issues when starting your exercises.

What's the difference between holding the bar palms towards you, palms away from you, narrow grip (hands head width apart) and wide grip (hands shoulder width apart)?
I think using an exercise band (attached to the pull up bar somehow and put one foot through it) to take some of your body weight would help a beginner.
Band-assisted pull ups may seem like a good idea but personally I've found little success in it, as it creates uneven support throughout the exercise. It gives alot of support in the beginning of the pull up, which is where most people struggle. If you have support at that stage of the pull up youre not building enough muscle. I find negative pull ups and inverted rows work much better. Bands can be good for improving your pull up technique though.
Does it matter when doing pull-ups if you use a reverse grip- knuckles facing out?

Some useful tips and exercises; the slow release is the more important part of the exercise. Might be better if you started with the actual exercises: just show them. You do get to them reasonably quickly, compared to some other vids! Far too many others spend three to five minutes waving their hands and working out their mandibular muscle groups. We can SEE, so get into the explanation after the demonstration.
What I learned from my parkour instructors is you want to use your shoulder muscles and triceps to do pull ups instead of chest and biceps. Try pulling in your elbows back and squeeze using those shoulder muscles as if you're trying to hold a pencil by squeezing those two shoulder muscles together while attempting a pull up! Hope that helps. Train safe!

I started with cartwheel, handstand, front handspring, back handspring, then back flip, front flip, b-kick, gainer, side flip, b-twist

Ahh! I wanna start training for anw again and I am not great at pull ups. I can do seven though. I started being able to do four. I would do sets of five. I made circuit at home... lunge jumps, burpees with tuck jumps, hand stand push ups, pike ups...and I do pull ups on the tree in our back yard. sometimes back tucks on the airtrack as "fun" conditioning...I can do handstands for a pretty long time and tumble though...but ya I am hoping to compete again this year. I had that problem but it gets better the more you do it. your shoulders will get used to it. And also curve your back, i didn't do that enough first
Make sure you tuck your chin in your shoulder or else youll probably roll on your shoulder blade which really hurts
