A Sammie on a silicon strap feels so comfortable... Its just so good on the wrist.
the combination of steel case and silicone is oddly very nice! also the curling and taper on the strap really works with the samurai
I bought one of these as my hiking watch. It looks more expensive than it is. It is also very comfortable and unobtrusive. I really enjoy it.

I own the Seiko Samurai it is a great watch to own I would love to own this one Its an awesome looking watch
Have the Baby MM Reduced with Stainless Steel bezel, it's about twice the price of the Samurai but it's on a bracelet and has a 6r35 not a 4r, checked the prices at my favorite JDM dealer. Still that Sammi Padi and it's siblings look great. $558 with free shipping and have about $25 in loyalty credit thinking about the Padi or the Save the Ocean Manta Ray which is $80 more but on bracelet. Love the blue dial on it. BTW have the Seastar for a few years and don't wear it much. I do think the Baby and Willard are superior watches and it's reflected in the price. Love your Seiko reviews, FWIW the Sammy would be duty free because it's under $800. And they never hit me up for the Willard and Baby MM, just got lucky they're like $1180 each. One watch I got from your reviews was the Sharp Edge GMT. Becoming my favorite Seiko.

You would be surprised. A jewelers sponsor, used to carry Tissot but dropped them "due to QC, too many problems". CEO's words not mine.
@@EscapementWatch good to know. Got my eye on either the sla051j1 or the sla047 next. My last seiko diver had alignment issues but I think the sla series has superior QC and the movement is awesome. Keep up the good work
It's better to turn the bezel from 12 and 6 position . It feels good to turn and you can tell it was designed to be gripped that way.

I feel the white one calling to me ... until I look at the dark manta ray one, then I'm torn which I prefer. I have 6.5 inch wrists too, so I'm not sure about the size. The marinemaster reduced is nice as well... for some reason Seiko watches are the ones I like the most.

I own a save the ocean edition samurai and I have to say it's a bit chunky and wears kinda top heavy i do wear it maybe once a month but not much more, nice job on your reviews.

It is almost identical to the “save the rays” that I bought. Mine gains 20 seconds per day. If this doesn’t improve I’m going to regret the purchase. The lume is great for 15 minutes. My Casio T200 is good for 2 hours and readable with effort even at 4 hours. Disappointing lume on this Seiko.

it's a little strange why they didn't painted the lume on the minute hand and on the pip in a different color like they did with the previous padi.
I would love to buy it, but every single one of my samurais had to be send back for corrections on dial because of horrible qc. Im not going there again and will stick with Tissot

I like the color scheme but It's strange to see a PADI edition without the standard red white and blue. It was always easy to spot a PADI edition. The new color scheme is just kinda meh

Great review, thank you. Green lume instead of mixed, strap instead of bracelet. Less legible bezel. Think I'd buy a previous version PADI and put up with the hardlex crystal.

I guess Seiko divers are better bought in store, ewhere one can check on missalignements and all those QC problems. Other Seikos, no problem buying online.

I'm 64, I like the cyclops, makes it easier for me to read. And try and stick to JDM for QC.
Misalignment has become the cool signature feature for Seiko 😎✌, so watch out an aligned bezel is probably a fake watch from China. Know it by the bezel 😄
@zack oblong well you can call all sorts of crazy things, but this is how seiko answered when emailed : " Actually, as the watch is one of the mass produced products, the printing misalignment on the dial and the misalignment of the dial legs’ positions are allowed to some extent; we set the appearance standard.
Meanwhile, we think it is difficult to adjust the misalignment by repair as it is due to a variety factor (e.g. dial print, dial legs).
Therefore, please kindly ask the customer to accept the appearance level by explaining the above and the fact that you explained to the customer before the replacement that it could not be guaranteed that the appearance would be improved dramatically as the watch was within standard originally."
So Seiko regard $600-1000 watches to be mass produced enough to allow misalignment as standard.

It is the number 1 watch I recommend to all. Its cheaper on jomashop with perfect alignment and SWISS MADE. Also, more water resistance and longer power reserve then the 4R!!! What a no brainer!

I'm not sure I think the 600 m version of the newest generation is actually ISO certified but I think the 300 m version is not but again I'm not 100% sure.

Well I know some AD's who stopped carrying Tissot because they were a nightmare for quality control and complaints from buyers to the point where they said its not worth it to sell this brand. Plus all the newbie swiss fans use Tissot to take shots at Seiko.

Pretty hard to clown on the Seastar when you're holding a 4R35 with half the power reserve and a glaringly botched chapter ring and dial. Sad.

Seastar may have better specs on paper but like most tissots will have no collectibility and end up collecting dust in a drawer after a few wears...the powermatics I had also were garbage.
I would buy more Seikos if it wasn't for price and QC issues.
Yeah I just received the Asia limited edition today. The minute hand was horribly dirty, grit under the paint on the bezel increments. Unacceptable, returning..

@@Antonio5559398 I haven’t returned it yet. There are a lot of Seiko 4r35/36 movements having this issue. I have one to the contrary has no issues. So I suspect there is a QC issue or was one anyway. Additionally, my watch dealer says these watches are fail safe in his experience, and has sold Seiko as authorized dealer for 30 years. So either it’s a QC issue or an operator error - me 🤷♂️. The Seiko that I own that runs flawlessly is the SRPC91 STO1 Turtle which also has the 4r36 movement.

I like your channel man and will definitely keep watching and I do like Seiko's but I noticed you love to lavish praise on Seiko and rip on the Swiss pieces but you know something Mr. Titan? The Swiss know how to line up chapter rings and dial markers. Seiko has no clue how to do something as simple as just making bezels, chapter rings etc. line up and at least the Swiss always asked a lot for they're watches unlike Seiko suddenly deciding they are going to charge Longines prices for basic watches with misalignment. Sorry, losing that Seiko love real quick now. Sticking with my Certina.

127 grams on a rubber strap I don't think is accurately characterized as "ultra light". That bezel action sounded really unpleasant. The lousy but predictable accuracy, combined with the lousy but predictable alignment both really seal the deal for me. No bueno. You should have taken your lady friend's advice. She's got a lot of valuable feedback.
yeah I mis-spoke. It is top heavy but the strap is soo light it brings it way down under 150g marker where watches start to really feel heafty on the wrist.

Blue vs. Red Underwater (+UV underwater)
In a video could you kindly shine a UV flashlight on these new PADI models, to show if the blue might fluoresce under water?
As some divers have commented (see: ua-cam.com/video/eAKu8Vex0Dw/v-deo.html ) the previous PADI red simply turns black after a few meters of being underwater, making it much harder to see when actually diving (a color/materials goof perhaps for a PADI approved dive watch...presumably intended to actually be used and more (not less) readable underwater)
Blue on the other hand is a color that travels further under water than red, so perhaps not turning grey-black under water as quickly. However, if the dial also fluoresces (not lume, but fluorescence en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fluorescence ) in the UV light that travels furthest underwater, that color/material will actually glow brighter and be extra visible for divers

But without seeing a UV light test...we don't know if the minute hand will glow blue under water or just turn black...
