TOSH! If this is fair and truthful, why is he calling it a civil war? It was clearly an externally backed plot to overthrow the legitimate ruler of Syria, done with Saudi fighters, money and arms. Isis wasn't Syrian and had no power base in Syria at all until their fighters crossed the border, ergot, this was an attempted regime change, engineered by foreign powers, and fought off by the legitimate government with the help of their ally Russia.

Some of these factions mainly left wing and military, tend to consider the European or Communist secular way of life as more progressive, while other factions cling to what they consider their own traditional way of life. The result of these deep cultural differences cause great internal instability to these countries, resulting in oppressive military regimes that think it's their duty to lead their people to progress while on the other side, the majority of their population becomes radicalized going the other way. Beyond this fundamental internal strife, international policies come to play. If you see the countries that the Arab Spring tried to bring Democracy to, like Iraq, Syria and Libya were all at war with Israel. The idea Americans apparently had was that if democracy came to these countries, there could be peace in the Middle East. The problem in this, was that democracy meant that the traditionalist extremist factions such like the Islamic Brotherhood or ISIS, Al Nusra (the Syrian Al Qaeda) and others would come to power and they were even worst enemies of Israel. The end result was total chaos where every body was fighting against every body. The only country saved so far is Egypt, because the military managed to keep the country secular. In Syria the U.S found it self in the position to help the "opposition" to the pro Russian Assad regime, only to find their weapons in the hands of extremist groups. As far as the current president Assad, he was never supposed to rule Syria, he got stuck with it after his brother was killed. In any case he is an enemy to Israel but he is an enemy you can come to terms, under the right conditions. On the other hand, with the exception of the Kurds, almost every other group of the so called Syrian opposition are extremist fanatics, that no one can reason with. Take the similar situation in Afghanistan for example: When the Soviets were there, the US was supporting the people it ended up fighting against, for the past 20 years. The Afghans that supported the Americans, were the same that supported the Soviets in the past, because they believe in a secular society, regardless of it being communist or not. Unfortunately for the world, all of these events are, each in turn, just an other brick in the wall of US foreign policy and domestic politics blunders. That's my opinion and I seriously think that the US policy makers need to go back to the drawing board, before we all start glowing in the dark...

There's a wonderful Syrian family that lives in my building that's always sharing food with us. My wife and I aren't excellent cooks so I've return the favour by donating old computers for their children to use for school. I know they very much miss their home, but we do what we can to make them feel welcome here and I hope they'll think of this as their home someday if they can't return.

I also think it’s important to remember that the Syrian history goes back 10,000 years to the Persians, Babylonians and Phoenicians. The modern state of Syria is more a result of this, and that is often forgotten. All Glory to Marduk!
During my life I've heard numbers about how old human civilization is here on the Earth. We kind of think of our own country here in the US, 200 years old like it's a long time. None of this really had any perspective to me until I read "the richest man in Babylon". For some reason reading about life back at that time while the war in Iraq was raging, seeing reporters pick up pieces of broken tablets from the Babylonian era, it finally all kind of made sense to me.
This is the best video you've ever done. Sure it lacks the polishing of the main channel but this is the most informative video of the conflict I've seen. It wasn't new information for me but that's a good thing you hit it all very well. As someone who has been covering and volunteered in Rojava, I think the best part is that you left Rojava out of it. (even though that's where the 900 troops are) Rojava is essentially an entirely different country, government and conflict that's largely against Turkey and should be an entirely different video. I have a 15 min unlisted video completion on the aftermath from when Trump pulled out if you are interested. It's graphic war crimes and global news coverage of what our Nato ally did.

Thank you for your honest reporting on Syrian conflict. As a Syrian I pray for peace and union in Syria. Many people misunderstand why different groups are fighting against each other. This clarifies it for those who need it.

Over here we have a saying "if you can't laugh you'll cry". I can't even imagine war or what you went through, let alone to play it down for haters on youtube, so yknow, glad to see you are still laughing.
Again these are conversations that lower enlisted need to be having. Wars a won left of the boom. Knowledge can be the difference of life and death. Especially for young war fighters
Some knowledge is passed on to the troops on the ground, essential knowledge to get along with friendlies or simply not incite the locals but no one will teach the troops the whole thing especially in places like Syria for the following reason: The more troops know about a certain situation the more likely they are to develop an opinion on the matter and will act, even if subconsiously, according to that opinion. This is a bad thing for those on top and generally for a military which goes above and beyond to reshape you into what they need you to be which is someone who will obey an order handed down by his nation no matter what (Note nation not commander). The troops recieve need to know knowledge and basically stuff which would help them point the gun at the people who oppose their nation. Some militaries are more strict on it, some less so. Some don't convey much information at all which often results in disaster.

Yea the engineering, history and everything is so fascinating but the realities of war is always something that is hard to swallow. Like I really want to see what new weapons people come up with... but do I really want people to keep thinking up new ways to kill each other? No not really... I guess it's not a very pleasant hobby/interest to have but that's just how it is.
Great little speech there at the end. A functioning democracy requires informed and citizens to work the way it is supposed to, and order to be informed citizens these are the kinds of discussions that need to happen, even if they are a little uncomfortable at times. Keep up the good work.

Serving left me with a very conflicted view on all military things for quite some time but I think it boils down to a simple: The technology is higly fascinating, the strategies are interesting and the aesthetic is cool but I sure don't want to see any of it being used ever again. None of this really had any perspective to me until I read "the richest man in Babylon". For some reason reading about life back at that time while the war in Iraq was raging, seeing reporters pick up pieces of broken tablets from the Babylonian era, it finally all kind of made sense to me.

This is the best video you've ever done. Sure it lacks the polishing of the main channel but this is the most informative video of the conflict I've seen. It wasn't new information for me but that's a good thing you hit it all very well. As someone who has been covering and volunteered in Rojava, I think the best part is that you left Rojava out of it. (even though that's where the 900 troops are) Rojava is essentially an entirely different country, government and conflict that's largely against Turkey and should be an entirely different video. I have a 15 min unlisted video completion on the aftermath from when Trump pulled out if you are interested. It's graphic war crimes and global news coverage of what our Nato ally did.
I love the empathy and insight you have into the Russian soldiers perspective. Note that empathy just means understanding not agreeing for the critics in the comments. Love your content. Keep up the good work!
Excellent video here. One video that might be interesting, sort of adjacent to the Syria civil war, is something covering the situation with the Kurds, and how that effects the surrounding nations. In any case, please continue these videos!
Thank you for your honest reporting on Syrian conflict. As a Syrian I pray for peace and union in Syria. Many people misunderstand why different groups are fighting against each other. This clarifies it for those who need it.

Again these are conversations that lower enlisted need to be having. Wars a won left of the boom. Knowledge can be the difference of life and death. Especially for young war fighters
I plan on joining the Army in a few years. I watch almost every video on the platform to understand what I'm going to be dealing with.
Some knowledge is passed on to the troops on the ground, essential knowledge to get along with friendlies or simply not incite the locals but no one will teach the troops the whole thing especially in places like Syria for the following reason:
The more troops know about a certain situation the more likely they are to develop an opinion on the matter and will act, even if subconsiously, according to that opinion. This is a bad thing for those on top and generally for a military which goes above and beyond to reshape you into what they need you to be which is someone who will obey an order handed down by his nation no matter what (Note nation not commander).
The troops recieve need to know knowledge and basically stuff which would help them point the gun at the people who oppose their nation.
Some militaries are more strict on it, some less so. Some don't convey much information at all which often results in disaster.

Yea the engineering, history and everything is so fascinating but the realities of war is always something that is hard to swallow. Like I really want to see what new weapons people come up with... but do I really want people to keep thinking up new ways to kill each other? No not really... I guess it's not a very pleasant hobby/interest to have but that's just how it is.

Serving left me with a very conflicted view on all military things for quite some time but I think it boils down to a simple: The technology is higly fascinating, the strategies are interesting and the aesthetic is cool but I sure don't want to see any of it being used ever again. I still love (military) history and keeping up with current developments but every now and then I also spend a night back there and that sucks balls. Keep up the great work.
