    The man did 45 years after he flipped. I have an old friend that knew Michael in the 70s at Tracy before he was sent to Folsom and before he dropped out. Michael, so much respect for you!!
    My older brother spoke nothing of his time in Florence AZ as a penitentiary
    I heard many stories about him, not knowing the true from the false but ignorantly riding the coattail of his name. He has since past and I am (for the most part) clear headed and left with many questions. And being left with questions I let my unbridled mind makeup illusory stories.
    I so much wanted to show him a different side of life but he was 6' 4" +- 280lbs and I stand 5'7" and 160 wet .
    I've followed your story for many years and always think of my brother . Anyways...... thanks for being you!!

    I love to hear Michaels interviews and realize hes an incredibly intelligent man. That said the white privilege comment is off, especially in my experience. As an Irish/Indian American my white skin didnt help me at all, or for that matter, my ancestors! Love ya Mike, but I disagree with that, and that sentiment is being turned hard against white people, which is absurd in this day and age.

      @@cinemillstv Yes, I could agree with that. That happens quite often, especially in smaller town America. If that's what was meant, then I agree, but I can go along with blanket white priveledge statements. As a matter of fact, I've seen numerous times (college funds being one) where blacks were given Preferential treatment just because (there was a blacks only study area which in my opi ion is no different that seperate bathrooms or drinking fountains, its wrong no matter who does it). I'm all for equal treatment of everyone, but that doesn't happen by screwing over white males now, because there was slavery. Preferential treatment of any group is going to breed racism, not fix it. Anyhow, those are my thoughts anyway.

    I wish him the best. Many years ago, I worked in the CoCo County Jail and had to supervise a few AB members and drop outs. They were all very respectful (to me at least) and quite articulate. The real gangsters in my experience did a lot to educate themselves. Their houses were always filled with books and it was not uncommon to see them reading or playing chess. As an avid Chess player myself, there were inmates I know who were world class.. Best of luck to this man.

    • @c30888
      @c30888 2 місяці тому

      That was the 'Life' sentence in California until November 1978, at which time they changed the murder one sentence to 25 to life, murder 2 from 5 to life to 15 to life. All it meant was you did a minimum of 7 calendar years to be eligible for parole. Before politics took over, if a lifer programed he would get a parole date at 7 years to be released in maybe 4, 5, years, the idea being that as a 'lifer with a date', you weren't going to risque losing it because if you did you might never get it back. Until politics took over, a lifer typically did between 11 and 13 years. That all changed when Dukmejian was Governor when the door was closed for lifers until we got all that changed in court. It didn't matter if you were locked up 2 years or 20 years, the door closed until the late 90's, early 2000's. I was a 7 to life and only did 33 years. Everybody I associated with had been there long before I got there and were there long after I left. Fortunately, most are now out. I just picked up an old friend that had been there 52 years. And I thought I was lost when I got out.

    A good man is not a harmless man. A Good Man is a man who is capable of doing very bad things but does not. He knows he has a dark side and he harnesses that for good purpose. He is the man who will carry his sword with him everywhere but choose to keep it sheathed until the last possible moment when there is no other choice but to brandish that weapon and use it accordingly. Just being harmless does not make you good, it makes you weak and actually dangerous. The weak man is the man who doesn't challenge you to a knife fight, he drops a kite to the CO'S and gets you removed from the block or the Pod or the yard that way. Usually underhanded and backstabbing. He is right regarding the humanity however he is wrong that it is not part of your mentality which is also part of your spirituality. God sent us here as a package, not in slices or parts.
