it's been like. a year. but i think i finally know why this edit always gets me (aside from you being really good at making these xD). you've perfectly captured iwtv's general miasma of unmoored confusion, not knowing your place in the world anymore now that you're dead/immortal and removed from all context. "where's your mother" both as a condescending accusation ("why are you behaving this way, who raised you, what wrong with you") but also as a genuine question ("who am i, where do i come from, why do i behave this way, what is the truth). louis and claudia look for an ancestry outside of lestat, but so many things in their life come back to their maker. one of their many conflicts is deciding what parts of lestat they want o take with them into life, which to regect outright, and how do these gel with their old human lives. it's especially poignant because they're both played by mixed-race actors, and you've brought out that conflict SO WELL.
The ending gave me actual chills oh my god
the claudia part ohwow!! this IS AMAZING
0:45 - 0:48 made me literally breathless. so SO good
This is the exact sequence I was about to comment on 💞
brain currently whiting out, will come back later to tell you how cool this is.
