While I now play on a heavily modded copy of Sims 2, I still enjoyed Vanilla a lot when I tried it out for the first time. Sims 2 and Sims 3 were so fun in Vanilla because they had so much features and details in just the base game, the mods in those games feel like new content that complement the existing content while for Sims 4, they're absolutely needed if you wanted to have fun.
@@Meowynina if you play without or with minimal cc/mods you probably won't ever experience crashes. Sims 2 is actually not optimized for modern computers, that's the main issue. If you have a brand new video card you're actually more likely to experience crashing/pink flashing.
@@bibipixels I have about 5GB of cc and mods and a 4070 graphics card which is pretty new so I guess i'm just one of the lucky people who has it run perfectly. It's the same when I play sims 3 my game rarely crashes and I also have a lot of cc for it too.
@@Meowynina What's your secret? Lol I've had a couple of computers that had no issues and one that crashed every time I loaded the game. It took forever to comb through and remove some bad files on that one. It was destroyed in a roof leak at my old apartment, sadly.
The pink flashing and crashing aren't an issue if you use the 4k patch and limit the amount of high poly/large texture CC you use. It's still a very stable game when you set it up properly.
The CC I use is mostly for adding new gameplay possibilities, I'm not that interested in changing the way my game looks. Especially when in comes to sims themselves. I want them to be recognisable and even ugly, when necessary. All these default replacements for the sims' looks make everyone even more similar than they already are. I once saw someone with that much CC in their game that their Gordon King (a burglar from Pleasantview) looked like a photo model. 😅 But sometimes I see very beautiful CC for improving the neighborhoods' looks and get tempted to install some. Luckily I understand that my vanila-looking sims would look wrong in all the wonderful scenery around them.
I mostly download gameplay enhancing mods too, but I recently gave in and downloaded a default hair replacement pack, and I have to say that this was huge for me, since vanilla game really doesn't have great hair options, even with all packs installed.
Sims 2 came out the same year I was born but I’m older than the game by 1 month I was born in August 2004 it came out in September 2004 I played sims 2 since 2015 downloaded the game on torrent full in December 2015 and finally got the legal copy in summer 2018 luckily before origin stop giving the sims 2 ❤
I've always plays the Vanilla-Game. This year is the First time i've ever put CC in my Game, but no Mods bc im afraid to crashing and destroying my Game.
@@missleah1111 be daring! 😃 If you're worried about borking up your game files just make backups occasionally. Ts2 isn't as easily broken and corruption isn't as scary as some ppl make it out to be. With mods the most annoying thing you have to watch out for are conflicts w other mods.
hi, i really want to try the sims 2 but they dont sell it on EA (they stopped on Origin earlier so it makes sense). Where did you download yours from??
The game has been abandonware for years. The best version for Windows is the Osab Installer, look it up. It comes with a one-click install and a document guide with all the basic fixes you need.
I have to play vanilla bc my shit laptop doesn't connect to the internet anymore so I can't DL anything anymore. I suppose I could DL off my other laptop I use for college and save it all to an external hard drive but Im not even sure if I can DL on Windows 11 at this point. I really want an old Windows 7 computer because thats what I know for CC downloads. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm open! ❤❤
I'm not sure what you mean by "DL". If you mean download - yes you can download anything you like on Win 11, it's just the matter of switching off protection from unwanted programs. It's located somewhere in settings or win firewall. I also like to use Edge for browsing through CC sites, as it has smart screen that detects potentially malicious content and you can back out from this type of sites safely. I think it also scans downloaded file so yeah that's great 😅
@@maevependragonI have Windows 10, installed Sims 2 Ultimate Collection and it works perfectly. If works on my Windows 10 without issues, I hope that applies for Windows 11 too.
Hi, this video was recorded in a completely unmodded game, that's just how the sims look. They move around so maybe you haven't seen them stand like that?
@@beckiiee3610 it doesn't matter that much, it's a 20 y.o. game and most new laptops and computers will run it. However, it's not optimized for new devices and you'll have to get all the fixes to get it to work properly. I recommend looking up "Osab installer" for the current best version of the game for Windows computers + it includes a guide for properly setting it up and troubleshooting any technical issues.
Skellington7d/whattheskell has done amazing things for a more vanilla game in temrs of clothing and all. Lots of people have built and decorated lots amazingly on vanilla games making you wonder how/where all that stuff has been when it's been there all along. The fact that you can't create a custom neighborhood in Sims 4 like in Sims 2 blows my mind anew every time I remember it. It's SHOCKING
