I remember the first time I heard them too. Probably 1994? I took my 15 year old daughter to see them a year ago in SF. I’ve never danced the way I did that day. She has a Jawbreaker tattoo!
first heard this on a comp as well...PUNK USA...Lookout Records? i've loved this song for almost 20 years...i read the lyrics or the first time tonight and learned just how good it is. It's really great.
@campinginalaska thanks so much for the reply! I've definitely heard some influence but never knew if it was direct or thru other bands that took influence from Blake. If you come by MI soon I'll try to make it out and introduce myself! Didn't know this channel was even still active.
@@harveyradius yeah I got a jawbreaker AND a jets to Brazil tattoo LOL. We're gonna try to come back in October!! Yeah we don't really upload anything on this channel anymore but it's my default UA-cam profile since like 2011 lol
Does anyone know where I can find The God's Reflex cover of this song? I used to have it on a burned CD and it kills me that I cannot find it anywhere online!
@Pauleymack Oh yes, corporate radio "3 minute classics" are so important. If only Jawbreaker made their songs easier to digest. I am of course being sarcastic. Gtfo with this bullshit. This song's perfect the way it is.
I remember when I first heard this song on a comp a long time ago, back in '99. I was just learning who this band was, they became one of my favorites, but back then this was one of the first songs I heard, I later got bivouac and 24 hour...those were better days, back before I had to grow up...on any sunday ill be there.
@MTVVH1sucks i feel ya with them deserving the money and recognition should have had but Green day didn't come after though, they started about the same time. Jawbreaker may have formed a year before but green day was in the bay area while jawbreaker was in new york. Jawbreaker wasn't big enough yet for green day to hear about in their first year. Green day's first full length came out the same year as jawbreaker's.
[Verse 1] A '63, 10,000 miles What was I thinking? I drove myself insane No small getaway Asleep with both hands on the wheel White knuckle weekend Chewing ephedrine Going to an unnamed end (Unending) [Verse 2] We met in rain You asked me in Seemed like a good sign Now I need a guillotine To get you off my mind I brush my teeth until they break Until I start bleeding So when I smile, I'll know I'm almost good enough for you (And would you...) [Chorus] Follow me to the end of the dare Raise your eyes, return the stare Become your words Your words, so becoming On any Sunday, I'll be there [Verse 3] I tried to drink you off my mind I just got wasted It only made the pain that much more acute (But cute) Isn't strong enough a word Unintentionally gorgeous An accidental charm A graceful drinking arm (Disarming) [Chorus] Follow me to the end of the dare Raise your eyes, return the stare Become your words Your words, so becoming On any Sunday, I'll be there
I wish I could eraser all memories, back to the year 1993. I want to relive the first time I heard Jawbreaker.
Same here.

still feel the same as i did back then listening to this... love bringing the old back to today
The first Jawbreaker song I ever heard. Took me a few listens to really get into it. Now I think it is a work of lyrical genius. :)
Best. Song. Ever.
This song reminds me of bay area times and railroad wine, long lost romance of that era. Where are ya now Blake?
Lyrics are so true when you've been through it. One of their best songs after fantastic planet

@rorschachh Actually, he's not and hasn't been for a while. He's a bartender at The Double Windsor in Park Slope. He's pretty good, too.

This song could've been a 3 minute classic. TOO long at 4-13.

Thanks so much! I check out your channel and saw you like Joyce Manor, NBA, and Selena. You're good people!
It has been a while since I heard this song, I am soo glad I stumbled upon it.

SUBLIME
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
[Verse 1]
A '63, 10,000 miles
What was I thinking?
I drove myself insane
No small getaway
Asleep with both hands on the wheel
White knuckle weekend
Chewing ephedrine
Going to an unnamed end
(Unending)
[Verse 2]
We met in rain
You asked me in
Seemed like a good sign
Now I need a guillotine
To get you off my mind
I brush my teeth until they break
Until I start bleeding
So when I smile, I'll know
I'm almost good enough for you
(And would you...)
[Chorus]
Follow me to the end of the dare
Raise your eyes, return the stare
Become your words
Your words, so becoming
On any Sunday, I'll be there
[Verse 3]
I tried to drink you off my mind
I just got wasted
It only made the pain that much more acute
(But cute)
Isn't strong enough a word
Unintentionally gorgeous
An accidental charm
A graceful drinking arm
(Disarming)
[Chorus]
Follow me to the end of the dare
Raise your eyes, return the stare
Become your words
Your words, so becoming
On any Sunday, I'll be there
