Yeah, I agree with @Masteroftheweb, you really should have switched Sliver Queen and Sliver Hivelord. You can have a bunch of Slivers out, late game, where Queen shines but Hivelord let's you tutor for the very same slivers that set up Sliver Queen. It's putting the cart before the horse by having them as they are, Eddie.
I said the same thing in my comment. The overlord fetches you the combo pieces (including the queen) where the quyeen just makes tokens that may or may not be big, depending on what you naturally drew, or tutored for using actual tutor cards.
@@Masteroftheweb plus with Manaweft/Gemhide Sliver and Quick Sliver you basically have a response to nearly anything your opponents could do with Overlords ability. Slivers can get very OP and I think Overlord should be the only STier Sliver, all the others depend on luck of the draw or other tutors.
If you want to lean a little bit into jank, you could also do some hilarious "gotcha" things with Shields/Blades/Wings of Velis Vel, Standardize, Artificial Evolution, Unnatural Selection and Imagecrafter The Velis Vel cards are particularly hilarious because they all have Changeling, so Overlord can also tutor for them as they count as Slivers

Sliver Overlord. I want to use it as the commander in Centurion, I assume multiplayer is a totally different beast and I'd go with sliver queen/even more combo oriented with tutors, buried alive, reanimation effects. Tutors: green sun's zenith, wargate, bring to light, eladamri's call, Idyllic tutor. Sylvan library, 4 spot removals (maelstrom pulse, void rend, vindicate, anguished unmaking), 4 counterspells (force of will, swan song, evasive action, negate/dovin's veto). Virulent, screeching, galerider, mindlash sliver, bop as cc1, ameboid changeling, crypt, dregscape, quick, acidic, frenetic, hibernation, dormant sliver and the other obvious ones; no +1+1 effect slivers, no lavabelly. I try to keep the manabase towards spell (low amount of lands that give colorless mana for spells, like cavern of souls). 10x fetchlands 10x shocklands, grove of the burnwillows, path of ancestry, city of brass, forbidden orchard, some painlands, commander tower, reflecting pool.
I run Morophon leading a sliver deck. Cost reduction being a key to the deck, it gets pretty nutty pretty fast. I've heard more than once than once that it's the best sliver deck opps have seen outside of CEDH. Jodah/FotS makes everything free. A few tutors in there to find Overlord, and it's pretty much done from there.

Codie can produce fast, repeatable, protectable combos based around cards like Hypergenesis, Living End, Resurgent Belief, etc. Many of the cards you use to protect Codie or counter spells can activate the combo. The dredge potential is also really exciting.
Reaper King is SUPER underrated especially with the new Myriad cards allowing for an entire NUKE ability for every opponent as each clone created acts as another vindicate...
Mirror Box is also great with him, imagine successfully casting a kicked Rite of Replication on your Reaper King with Mirror Box up. The most terrifying part about him is that he can target lands, if you're not afraid of losing your friends. Say you're preparing for a big play, but the blue mana user has some mana up. You can cast some random-ass Changeling Outcast for 1 to nuke their open land on your first main phase, let their mana pool empty, and do your big play on your second main phase
Jegantha is great for a 5 color mutate deck especially with him being 4 colorless cause you essentially ramp from 5 mana to 10 on your next turn which allows you to play your base creature and mutate more than once on it in that same turn
Great video, as usual! Power aside, I do love my Scion of the Ur-Dragon deck because of how much of a toolbox he is, and how well I can cater the play experience as a result. Do I want stupid amounts of value? Nice, I'll grab Miirym or Beledros Witherbloom. Is this a less complex or less experienced table? Also fine, I can grab Drakuseth or Ojutai and be a-okay. If I want to be sure that the deck can fit the table, whatever it is, that's the one I break out, and I love it for that.
I put blade of selves and doubling season in my deck since I'm running a lot of non-legendary token engines. You can reliably get him out turn 3 every game and swing turn 4 as whatever you want. The look of horror on my pods face when I rolled 5 d20s for my Ancient Gold Dragon and made 100 1/1s on turn 5 was priceless.
@@PH03NIX96 That is a cool setup. I'm personally not big on the new ancient dragon cycle (a personal hangup), but I'm glad you have a fun build, Scion seems pretty much perfect for a whole slew of different deck plans.
Idk, once you started touching the silver decks I felt a type of way BUT you did mention in a casual setting. I find the Overload better then the Fisrt Sliver.
@TheTribalOne Yeah, cause I've had a sliver deck for years and rotatate the commander based off who I'm playing. The Overload has always performed higher, especially compared to whiffing those cascade triggers.

Progenitus is one of my favorite cards ever and one of the most ridiculous, and is my commander of choice to honestly signal ‘I’m trying some dumb, ineffective bullshit that requires all 5 colors, please don’t take me seriously’
The fact that Ur-Dragon is by far the most powerful tribal-tribal commander, using the eminence ability to play a lot of small changelings per turn to generate massive value should have probably pushed it a little bit higher than the other tier A options. That said, nice list in general.
im just saying, Sliver queen is the only of the sliver legends that is reliant on other slivers to be valuable. overlord can just get any other sliver from the library, so he probably should swap with her.
Hard disagree on the placement of the first sliver in S tier versus overlord in A. The first sliver is a lot of value, but the first sliver you hit off of his Cascade will not cascade itself because the first has not resolved. The majority of slivers are also low mana value, So the odds of you going four, three, two, one are extremely slim. Overlord is an answer to any potential problem on the board at instant speed, plus he can tutor for any of the other five legendaries. If you build your deck specifically to Cascade into specific cards, then the first might be a more powerful version, but then we're looking at CEDH territory. I think as a common sliver tribal deck, the overlord will always be the most powerful and consistent iteration.
This may be just me but I think Sliver Overlord should be higher up, you can use it to tutor the other WUBRG slivers and adds a level of consistency to the deck
Leaving this in the beginning, I'm making a ramos deck and absolutely love him, if he's anywhere below B im going to literally go outside and toss a rock at a tree
Nice video! I do have to say I beat Sliver decks ALL THE TIME with Tiamat😎 I actually prefer playing them since all I have to do is one or two board wipes and GGs... Perhaps Tiamat mistakingly was put in A tier rather than S tier!?
"how dare you make valid points about my favorite commander!" i say knowing full well kyodai isnt the greatest commander, but is the pilot of my 5 color spirit deck, and is my favorite deck
Honestly morphon makes those legendary dragons like tiamat, Waistora, and the time spiral legendary dragons cheap to cast. Throw in the changelings for low to the ground casts early.
I just had an epiphany - I absolutely love the un-sets and Niv-Mizzet Reborn would be the perfect commander to just slam out all of the 2 color legendaries from unfinity plus the other silver bordered ones. With WUBRG you all of a sudden have attractions and stickers, you're slapping instants onto the board as creatures, and all sorts of nonsense just ensues from there. Probably nobody will care much about this but that's understandable lol figured I'd share anyways
Seems like Jegantha is good for providing the mana fixing needed for the WUBRG-cost Commanders, and I expect it to see Sideboard play in any such Commander deck - though Progenitus is a 2(WUBRG), or WWUUBBRRGG one, so if they are in the same deck, you have to mainboard both to get it to work. You are probably just going to cheat out Progenitus anyways, though, with something like Thran Temporal Gateway.
The best way I know of to neutralize Karona's downside is via Assault Suit (see my comment on one of your other videos that include Codie for more info).
Morophon is another good solution for mana fixing among the 5 color commander options. It can make the single WUBRG 5-cost commander options - both D-tiers, for example - free casts. Furthermore, it helps Jegantha get Progenitus out by turning him into a single WUBRG instead of a Double if you choose Hydra or Avatar. Personally, though, I think Progenitus works better as a Hidden Commander. Speaking of which, Morophon makes a great addition to any/all Sliver decks, either in or out of Commander, even if it's not actually the commander, though it does allow you to use the WUBRG Sliver legends as hidden commanders much more easily. I want one.
Like Codie, I actually have a copy of the Go-Shintai, and have been meaning to make a commander deck around it. Yes, the mana fixing is an issue, but you only need to have Green to cast it, and green has the best nonland mana fixing I know of.
We come full circle in a way by finishing off the video with Kenrith, a 5/5 five-drop with 5 activated abilities, because we started off with Chromat, a 5/5 five-drop with 5 activated abilities.
Codie is a very versatile commander. CeDH aside (because the book is god teir in competitive), you can build tempo by combos with Jadzi or build Polymorph to cheat out big dumb creatures or even run token generation in all colors to amass and army. I feel like B teir is a bit low for the dumb book honestly for casuals.
@@Masteroftheweb that's so cool. It was always a card I wanted back in the day but I couldn't justify the 40 or so dollars it cost at the lgs in 2003. Finally picked it up in 2019. Cool story. Thanks for sharing. Those have some nice meaning.
@@PinkDevilFish Honestly... I feel in love with the idea of slivers, and didn't even know about the queen till she brought it to school. It's why my Sliver deck was the very first EDH deck I ever made. I wanted a deck that utilized my entire sliver collection. I've left if virtually untouched since I made it, which was 100% on a budget... but I'm debating making my land base better with cards that aren't budget rainbow cards.
@@Masteroftheweb I feel you there. I played a lot during scourge legion when slivers had been brought back. Loved it then stopped playing for a long time.
Heavily disagree with Tazri. She's a massively good toolbox commander that basically can get your wincon at any time. There's a surprisingly good amount of Allies that are really, really good. Easily a deck that can blow out ahead of everyone simply because your commander can get any ally for the right boardstate. A Tier at the very least.
Most of this list I agree with or at the very least can see where you are coming from, but in my opinion Ur-dragon and Sliver Overlord should be S tier. I know someone who plays slivers and they had a combo with training ground, Overlord, and ameboid changeling, they literally were tutoring and stealing the best card across the table every turn for one mana each, with every sliver on their board able to be tapped for mana. As for Ur-Dragon, even just with the combos that came in its precon, Ur-dragon can easily destroy an opponent AND get you a full hand of cards AND cheat in an expensive permanent for you, all in one fell swoop, and that isn't even getting into running it with powerhouses released later like Tiamat, Hellkite courser, the Ancient Metallic dragons and Miirym from Baldur's Gate, Isshin, and Scion of Draco, though I admit, I am biased on that particular deck as I play it and my list miiight not wholly be casual at this point. I also feel like you might be underestimating Ramos a little not putting it in A, but considering some of the other things that ARE in A, I can see it as iffy, a B+ as it were that is sort of on the fence, being able to suddenly pop out ten mana on an opponent's turn to help you respond to what they are doing while tapped out is a pretty powerful effect. Anyways great video, and out of curiosity, if you had released this now, where would you have put the new five color commanders from Dominaria United on this list?
How I know I am picking the right commanders: Your 2 "D" list legends are my two favorite decks! I mean that in a good way. So many players are so focused on breaking the format/commander/play group that these great and CHALLENGING commanders are too often overlooked. Cromat and Horde are easily two of my most powerful decks in my arsenal. It isn't easy but in a casual and friendly playgroup both of these Generals can do plenty of winning. Are they the worst 5 color generals? I would say "no" but I can see why someone might say that they are.
I do think that morophon is at least a tier, purely because of all the broken cards it works with, like Jodah archmahe eternal, niv-mizzet reborn, or ur-dragon. Also Tiamat is a one-time thing. Its a good commander, but it’s not on the same level as Jodah and ur-dragon
Would Progentious have protection from mama cost spells then? Since you have Haktos the Unscarred. It gains protection from mana cost spells which could change how protection from everything would now interact.
Sacrilege!!Kamigawa powers my dragon deck and does great! The free indestructible is awesome in a deck that has no graveyard retrieval.I forgive you for sharing Cromat, but shading Kamigawa,a dragon, and flyer come on dude🙅
I don't understand your logic... Sliver Queen is S tier because of combo potential... but Sliver overlord... which literally fetches you all the combo pieces is A tier? Legit Sliver Overlord is the strongest sliver, and S tier in my opinion. Having the Sliver Queen at your beck and call is what I do when I want to play my silver deck casual. When I want to crush someone who has pissed me off, I switch to the overlord. It was the first deck I ever made and it's mana base is quite weak because of it... and I still consistently get rainbow turn 5, fetch all the combo pieces and go infinite by turn 6. At that point, you can win by literally any method you choose. Mill someone out, make them draw, direct damage, or simple combat. And if you want to use the MC ability, there are changelings that make creatures slivers, as you well know. Amoeboid Changeling has been in my sliver deck since I built it in the late 2000s
Wait, you can kill Progenitus with a board wipe?? I always thought that since it has protection from everything, that would include instants and sorceries too. Like how Emrakul, the Promised End has protection from instants. I guess the protection only protects from being targeted, and board wipes don't target?
I believe "protection from X" means it can't be targeted, blocked, damaged, or destroyed by X. Might be forgetting some other interaction they're immune to. Either way something like a Toxic Deluge or overloaded Cyclonic Rift get it off the field.
@@baconsir1159 I see. That makes sense, I always thought Progenitus was basically immortal unless you countered him while he was still being cast lol. Good to know
Protection is commonly misunderstood as complete exemption from permanents, and effects created by cards, with the specified quality. However, protection is defined by a relatively narrow set of rules, which are often communicated using the mnemonic acronym DEBT. The permanent or player with protection cannot be: Damaged by sources with the specified quality. (All such damage is prevented.) Enchanted, equipped, or fortified by permanents with the specified quality. Blocked by creatures with the specified quality. Targeted by spells with the specified quality, or by abilities from sources of that quality. *copy paste from the wiki*
Worth mention Progen is immune to damage based wipes, but yeah, it comes down to protection being targeted base. If you use something like, Tribute to Hunger, and force you opponent to sac him, he's just as dead.
Can you choose a colorless commander? I forget it's name, but there's a 7 cost colorless legendary shapechanger that can count as another creature type, (elf) for my uses. I wanna use him as a leader for a 5 color Elf deck... Assuming you know the creature I'm referring to, can it be used in this way?
@@criticalcat Quick question my guy; I noticed someone making a squirrel deck with Chatterfang, I believe it was, and I was confused because they made it BG but he's only Green. Then I noticed his ability was a black mana ability, is that also why Morophon is WUBRG in regard to Commander Colors?
I only disagree with general tazri I have a super mean tazri deck that my friends hate playing against but I also would just put her higher because of how fun I have with my deck
I disagree about Tiamat, she should be Tier S on this list, because when she goes down the game ends immediately if the opponents don't have a response prepared, as she takes at least two combos and puts them in her hand!
Karona is a pretty lousy commander, but you can reduce the chances of your opponent's getting it if you wear a mask. ... at least it doesn't have infect.

If you want to lean a little bit into jank, you could also do some hilarious "gotcha" things with Shields/Blades/Wings of Velis Vel, Standardize, Artificial Evolution, Unnatural Selection and Imagecrafter
The Velis Vel cards are particularly hilarious because they all have Changeling, so Overlord can also tutor for them as they count as Slivers
Love the video, only gripe is that sliver queen and hive lord should have been switched. Yes sliver queen is great IF you have the right slivers, hive lord makes SURE you have the right sliver.
sliver queen is just because it combos so easy I prefer the lord myself but folks love infinite slivers
Sliver Overlord. I want to use it as the commander in Centurion, I assume multiplayer is a totally different beast and I'd go with sliver queen/even more combo oriented with tutors, buried alive, reanimation effects.
Overlord as commander, all lords, morophon, training grounds, necrotic sliver intruder alarm, mana echoes, gemhide/manaweft sliver, each sliver that gives haste (4), bloom tender, faeburrow elder, cryptolith rite, elven chorus, opposition, telekinetic sliver, chaos orb, teferi time raveler, living death, patriarch's bidding.

*29:12* nevermind, I'll settle
Cromat walked so kenrith could run 😍
6:52 You’re saying its C tier, Mitch. But corona shifted the entire meta-game for nearly three years.
@@BloodiedShingle I also have Miirym, but thinking I might take it out and have its own commander deck.
@@PH03NIX96 Miirym's fun, I was debating giving her a deck of her own, but that's for another time, if I ever do.
I blame Eddie for not waiting until Jodah, the Unifier was released to make this video. Lol
I honestly wasn't expecting to see my favorite Scarecrow commander in the A tier.
Idk, once you started touching the silver decks I felt a type of way BUT you did mention in a casual setting. I find the Overload better then the Fisrt Sliver.
I agree with you because my whole thought is that with sliver overlord you can tutor for the first sliver
@TheTribalOne Yeah, cause I've had a sliver deck for years and rotatate the commander based off who I'm playing. The Overload has always performed higher, especially compared to whiffing those cascade triggers.
My poor sliver overlord. As a Sliver player that has all five I would say Overlord and the First Sliver are the best commanders
the first one worked best for me

Cromat Now: “Witness my ascension! Gaze upon my accelerated growth! Have I not evolved?!”
I know that "Golos, Tireless Pilgrim" is banned, but I like to know which category he would fit.
Great video by the way.
S considering they had to ban it right?
I think a cool idea is ranking certain tribe commanders! Like the best elf commander, or best vampire commander! lol
Great video :)
Sliver Queen is ahead because she is a legitimate threat to the entire table even in a deck with no other slivers.
Sliver Overlord is definitely S tier
Horde of Notions is very very powerful. A lot of Elementals have strong ETBs and being able to recur crib swap is funny as hell.
Overlord user right here: 100% agree. Tutoring Crystalline and Hivelord makes my board almost impossible to wipe.
This dude put sisay in b tier. He has no clue
Ok, this is acceptable
Nice video! I do have to say I beat Sliver decks ALL THE TIME with Tiamat😎 I actually prefer playing them since all I have to do is one or two board wipes and GGs...
Perhaps Tiamat mistakingly was put in A tier rather than S tier!?
She is expensive to cast, impossible to cheese, reveals your strategy, is vulnerable to discard effects... I don't think she's S tier levels of power
@@astuteanansi4935 fair points
"how dare you make valid points about my favorite commander!" i say knowing full well kyodai isnt the greatest commander, but is the pilot of my 5 color spirit deck, and is my favorite deck
Eddie! You forgot my favorite silver border commander; surgeon general commander!
What's casual?Casual for our LGS is no infinite or land destruction-sometimes😆
Honestly morphon makes those legendary dragons like tiamat, Waistora, and the time spiral legendary dragons cheap to cast. Throw in the changelings for low to the ground casts early.
Just made a Tiamat deck and loving it!
I only have Sliver Hivelord out of the legendary slivers, but man does he still strike fear into their hearts lol.
The Reaper King is my baby. I love him so much
Surprised Reaper King isn't higher. It's missing one very important word: *NONLAND*. It can pop lands and has access to every blink spell in the game.
I want one.
Ramos. With a bunch of spells that generate +1/+1 counters, he's basically the perfect commander for Progenitus decks, even as a secret commander.
Great video. Sad to not see my main man Golos since he's banned , would have definitely been an s tier
With the release of Dominaria United, I wonder which tier the Jared Carthalion planeswalker would get.
I think progenitus needs an errata protection from everything should be literally everything.
I love my Sliver Queen deck. Super happy I bought it before it went over 150.
My dear friend gave me 2 sliver queens she had and when she didn't care about the game anymore back in the 90s.... I still use them to this day.
I love my najeela the blade-blossom commander deck and the infinite combat
So I do believe he forgot our beloved golos the best commander known to command
Would Progentious have protection from mama cost spells then? Since you have Haktos the Unscarred. It gains protection from mana cost spells which could change how protection from everything would now interact.
Well it has protection from everything
Idk about Go-Shintai being at B i think its a lot stronger and shrines are an awesome commander deck
Sacrilege!!Kamigawa powers my dragon deck and does great! The free indestructible is awesome in a deck that has no graveyard retrieval.I forgive you for sharing Cromat, but shading Kamigawa,a dragon, and flyer come on dude🙅
Would love to see a ‘break the bank’ deck tech on The First Sliver.
Just saw this video and thought…”is Morophon and Fist of Suns a good combo…?
What about Omnath locus of All and Jonah the Unifier
Yay my fav commander first sliver is a S tier!!!
Can Jagantha be Jodah Archmage Eternal's companion?
Do you still play your golos deck
Gonna do a cat tribal with morphon and cards that change creature types, then include wubrg creatures and insist they're cats
I miss Golos :(

It's not a surprise to find out that Kenrith is King
You should brew Kardur land destruction
:)
Atraxa what are your thoughts an maybe the rank of it
First deck I build is najeela. XD, I enjoy it
Wait, you can kill Progenitus with a board wipe??
The permanent or player with protection cannot be:
Damaged by sources with the specified quality. (All such damage is prevented.)
Enchanted, equipped, or fortified by permanents with the specified quality.
You can respond to him on the stack before he resolves
Karona is fun as a grouphug commander ;)
I honestly thought there was alot more 5 color commanders. Kinda surprised by this amount
Where does Jared carthalion fall in this?
Everything counts as a spell. So Ramos gets counters for every creature you summon

I disagree about Tiamat, she should be Tier S on this list, because when she goes down the game ends immediately if the opponents don't have a response prepared, as she takes at least two combos and puts them in her hand!
If you do Morophon and Jodah then you can cast all spells of the chosen type for free

I feel that the ur dragon and Tiamat should be in the s tier but that’s just my opinion since I play dragons a lot 😂

I run him as a mutate deck. Having regenerate right on the body is super useful there. He's definitely not the worst
Quite literally what I did as well
My first and favorite commander deck was reaper king, there are a lot of ways to turn your creatures into scarecrows, now add some tokens and now you can blow the entire table including lands.
Having faced Garth I'd say he's an A. Always having creature, enchantment, and artifact removal, plus regrowth, is extremely oppressive!
S - tier commander:
Najeela
Kenrith
Sisay
Dude likes slivers a lot more than they deserve.
