I am thinking of going to Nauvoo on August 1st and I just came across your video and I noticed it was uploaded August 1st of 2021. I take it as a good sign lol.
Thanks for posting this video. I have never been to Nauvoo or anywhere around that area so I appreciated seeing some of it through your lens. I loved the artistry of your photos and the music you chose. Makes me long for a simpler time. Thank you for sharing in such a respectful and curious way, I think I would have been wandering and exploring just like you did. Much love to you Brother.
I've been to Nauvoo several times. I have ancestors who lived there. Basically all the cheaper wood houses have decayed and been destroyed. If you look at maps from the time, the city was packed. Only the more pricy brick structures have survived.
True, 12,000 people lived in Nauwoo at its peak and that’s a conservative est. When I built my home on Preist street in 1842, my wife and I raised our two children there. Such a pleasant communty.
The smaller building behind the Scoville Bakery would have been the summer kitchen. The part jutting out at the back is called a bustle oven (like the bustle on a woman's dress).
The history knowledge has only been scratched on the surface. Read the Book of Mormon for more history in that area going back to the time period shortly after the Tower of 😠Babel to 423 A D.
Nauvoo is part of the darkest times in American history. Mormons we’re run out of New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio and went to Nauvoo, Illinois. They established a beautiful town. Then we’re runout of Nauvoo and clear out of the United States. That’s when they went to what is now Salt Lake City, Utah. They had lost many homes, farms, ranches, businesses. Many lives were lost. The Governor of Missouri even issued an “extermination order” against the Mormons if you can imagine that. All this took place less than 50 or 60 years after the Constitution and Declaration of Independence were ratified granting us Freedom of Religion. The President of the United States and the judicial system did nothing to protect the members of the Church. Extremely disgusting and shameful. This guy should have done his homework and explained this better. Joseph Smith was murdered in Carthage jail by a mob that was allowed to do so.
good presentation, but it fails to mention that the city was as busy as chicago before the mob drove the entire mormon population out, I don't think the survivors of this genocide were ever compensated.

That's very similar to what happened in Warsaw (and I mean the part that escaped WW2 destruction). Most was wood and that's almost all gone.
