- Prior to tonight’s game, Coach Sullivan announced that Ryan Graves did not make the trip with the team. Graves stayed back in Pittsburgh, because he and his partner are expecting their first child. To fill his hole in the lineup, Jack St. Ivany would make his NHL debut. Coach Sullivan described St. Ivany as a player who plays a “conscientious, reliable, trustworthy” role. Michael Bunting got the scoring started against the Stars by crashing the net after a crafty pass from Evgeni Malkin. Pavelski answered for Dallas, and the two teams would head into the intermission, 1-1. Benn scored the only two goals of the 2nd period for the home team, and Steel added one on just over four-and-a-half minutes into the final frame. After the fourth Dallas goal, Alex Nedeljkovic replaced Tristan Jarry in the Pittsburgh net. Just after the midway point of the 3rd period, another pass from Evgeni Malkin behind the net set up Rickard Rakell for a quick, top-shelf wrist shot. Dallas would go on to win the game, 4-2.

amazing to see someone aside from Sid (maybe Rust too) do anything to get the puck in the net. Reminded me of the hockey I grew up with (80s and 90s) when Bunting was on the ice swatting that puck in....amazing. Keep him with Geno.
@@johnnythunder196 you can really see how lackluster this group is when they play actually good teams like Dallas, who skate hard like they want it. So absolutely, seeing someone hustle and show emotion other than relief when they score a goal feels refreshing 😬

Hey Pens. You so sucky, sucky. I've been a fan since 1990. And honestly, this is the worst I've seen them play. No effort, no drive, or desire to win. I'm ashamed and embarrassed. Sure the Pens have had some tough years since I started watching them, but this is bad.

I think Crosby needs to shoot more on goal. Bemström should be in the first line. And fire Sullivan already!
