Of course the flat tire is under the outrigger that won't work. Thanks for the visit to Fallon, it's been a while. Best Wishes to everyone at Anderson Construction.
Here's an interesting tidbit...In the early 70s Galion took a crane chassis and put a wheel lift on the front that picked the graders up at the pivot point of the front axle to move them around the factory grounds
Nice score on that unit ❤👍 Sure was easy to get it started and it walked on the trailer on its own.😂 Thanks for taking the time to show us👍👍😎😎 Pat from northwest WI
Great video Jeff nice looking part's machine for your Galion Crane. Glad to see you and the other Galion Crane made it home. Looking forward to your next video stay safe Jeff.
On my 97 dodge. I cleaned all the block grounds. One of the lugs wasn't even that tight. Also found that the main electrical plug that goes into the trans was wet with tyranny fluid. I also had a 99 dodge and it had same problem. Ended up being alternator. The next thing to try is drive with alternator unplugged and see if it goes away. Then you have to change the alternator supposedly it's a bad diode.
Well I got my 97 to stop unlocking by doing the things I mentioned first. Didn't touch the alternator except I also did clean all the alternator connections. Hopefully Jeff does that first.
453 Detroit I ran some of those back in the day they were 150 A models typically 453 was common had a later model had a 12 valve cummins yours is the first ive seen with a IH engine
Not sure of the year, but Komatsu bought Galion supposedly to take their motor graders out of competition! About the same time, they also bought Dresser, the former IH construction equipment line. At the railroad shop I worked in, we had one of the last Galion cranes built. It was labeled Galion at some places, Dresser at others, and had a Komatsu engine! Damn shame this American made iron is gone!
I’ve been waiting for this video. Jeff in my hometown, crazy. Wish I would’ve known you were there that day, I would’ve stop by with my air compressor on my service truck. I lived three miles away. Crazy seeing that crane parked there for the past few years. Never knew it was wrecked and never would’ve guess you would end up with it but at least you’ll get some good use out of it.
That’s a 4-53 Detroit Mr PayDirt. It actually came out after the 71 series. Only the 53 series has perimeter valve cover bolts. 71 series are through the center. 53 series has fuel pump and Governor on the same side. 71 series in-line has liner inspection covers on the side of the block, in-line 53s do not.
It would be nice to have friends really but when you are a really good mechanic people tend to use you under the pretence of friends..an then when it's fixed they tell you ...your only needed when your needed..
There's one of those puppies down the road from me here in the north Okanagan. Everytime I drive by im thinking of ya. Iffin you commence to building a collection I'll check er out :)
These GMC have emergency shut down flaps on blower spring loaded . If tripped motor will never start even on starting fluid. Seen many people stuck from it tripped . It can be reset by hand on blower.
Nice fleet you are building up Jeff. Next thing that will happen. Jeff’s phone ringing “ Hey Jeff! This is Andrew Camaratti! You interested in selling a D9 or a Gallion?” 💵💵💵 😂😂😂
🤣😂🤣 Not a trucker but I play one on YousTubus 🤣😂🤣😂 New Felon Galion dang fell off 😳 I heard you got another Galion. We named the new dog “Butterscotch or Butters” Got me a new toy also. Scissor lift.😊 needs some work. So I’m headed out to play.
TORQUE CONVERTER LOCKUP PROBLEM: Could be the APPS ( throttle position sensor ) is glitching out, I did have a few trucks back in the day that had a interference problem and the fix was to clean the main ground on the block, add a ground to the Dodge PCM from the block ( yes on the plastic PCM case ), clean the Cummins PCM mounts and add an extra ground, last replace the ground wire between the APPS and the Cummins PCM. I would clean and add the grounds and see if the problem goes away before replacing the APPS ground wire because it's a pain to do. The best part is that if it's the interference/ground problem, you will never see it even with the factory scan tool. Ask me how I know.
so i replaced the tps resistor style with a hall effect one years ago, but the voltage is off and it needs adjusted, I was talking with a local tech and I mentioned the chip and he picked it up and gently dropped it a couple times as I'm telling him maybe I should unplug the chip and see it the problem goes away and he said ya start there, so I left and no more problem.......so is it the chip or did my truck hear us talking about it? LOL
My 2005 Jeep Cherokee kept dropping out of lockup. Did that a while until lockup completely failed. Not sure why and so I think I'll have a trans shop do the rebuild. Maybe it wasn't holding enough pressure somewhere.
AC ripple from your alternator. Replace the diode pack in your alternator, or buy a reman. Bet it would clear up with your lights off and reduced load.
When the DOT comes and knocks on your door And ask you to pee in a cup Just hand him the Gatorade bottle And tell him go ahead and And test that It's still warm😅😂

Nice parts machine! That Detroit sounds great

Correct. AC ripple from failing diode pack. Don't even trouble shoot it. Just replace the pack, or buy some junk off the shelf.

It won't be long before Jeff has the biggest D9 fleet and biggest Galion fleet on UA-cam.
I think he already does!!
Nice score
Winnemucca Nevada, where the men are men and the sheep are o scared Gal told me that one time over there
Hey Geoff your new crane runs better than the one you just restored pity its a different engine/trans !!
These GMC have emergency shut down flaps on blower spring loaded .

It can be reset by hand on blower.
Carl's Jr. used to have fried zucchini, dip it in Ranch, it was the only reason why I'd stop there.

Nice looking rubber on that gallion

Nope. On all of that.
@@Jpaydirt Don't know what chip you're talking about... But your tech should have said alternator and sent you on your way.

should be little spring loaded fipcap fitting in the intake near supercharger spray gogo juice in there thumbs up jeff
Now you need a third crane so you can swap parts on these two
AC ripple from your alternator. Replace the diode pack in your alternator, or buy a reman. Bet it would clear up with your lights off and reduced load.
Got a decent engine for the other crane now ,beats that IHC junk.
you went to Winnemucca and did not stop at The Griddle restaurant ? You missed out

No, I'm your father Luke

what ply rating are those tires? I got an older Skytrak with that size tires on it.

I’m kind of interested in the story of that Chevy pickup next to the crane Jeff. Was that your previous daily driver?
it was my dads, then matt drove it
tag on valve cover will tell you what it is. Im guessing 4-53
Good ol screaming Detroit or a Yamaha
shut off has a spring missing
Hope you don't leave that new battery to rot ?
it's going in the other one, as the battery in it is old and weak, on a side note.....do batteries rot? LOL
I cant believe it didnt have stuck injectors.
it ran in 2018
As my wife would say. More yard art for the pile of junk.
But honey, it's a parts machine. 😊
