The Super Beetle! And I do not mean that in a derogatory sense....as all great things have humble beginnings. The 1936 Beetle would be pround of its great great great grandson...
I have a 2005 997s for five years with no bore score or IMS issues this standard reply from people is inaccurate as this is a rare occurrence and is usually more to do with lack of use or poorly maintained cars or both.
@@garoglasser I think it's quite a bit more than rare. Rare would be for a 2.5L or 2.7L to have scoring. Porsche made changes since the original M96 including a 40% increase in displacement and HP in a high reving engine, hence the scoring occurs on the power stroke only. I bought a 3.4L last year and scoped #6, #5 and #3 myself (fwiw). On the IMSB, I replaced my dual row with an EPS while I did the clutch. It appeared to be solid with original grease and I actually regretted doing it. A little later I removed the seal and flushed the grease and found it did not turn smooth, but notchy. The grease hid this. It likely wouldn't have failed for a long time but it was not like new. Like you said, maintain it well. Maybe you have low miles too (mine is at 55k).
It simply doesn't get any better than this car!
