I was researching the difference between these two species just a couple of days ago! I realized I had misidentified a picture I took of a bank swallow for a northern rough-winged swallow. Thank you for this video, it was very helpful!
It’s the Violet-green Swallow that has white patches on their rump. It’s a bit harder with the Tree Swallows. Bank Swallows have a partial white collar wrapping around the ear coverts on the hind neck.
