@BrAndOnWUlvE316 A 1981 Dean Ml with a Dimarzio Super Distortion in the bridge. Strung with D'addario .010- 42 gauge. Straight into a Roland Br-1600 using a Soldano patch.
Yeah- I even talked to the RockNRoll Hall of Fame and Museum to have it there but they need it verified-as in a picture of him doing it. This was 96 and I didn't carry a digital phone or cam. Only my students who were with me know it's authentic. He carved it in with a screw driver after blowing some blazing metal blues licks on it. We parttied backstage after-I gave him one of demos which his gtr tech told me he liked. A great guy and the greatest player since Randy Rhoads. Cheers!!
It's an amp simulator- using the Mesa Triple Rectifier patch. I use a 100watt power amp through Event 20/20 monitors. The pickup in the Dean is a Dimarzio super distortion.
@MusicMotivator yep,the are guitarists the mistake is that u must play palm muted not only 6th string but 6th and 5th .5th string on 2nd fret.so its palm muted pwer chord
Well, I believe both in studio and live for this they are standard A=440. (E,A,D,G,B,E)not drop D as some guys posting have said. They are forming power chord shapes based on standard tuning not a one finger barre like drop D needs.
@rammsteinvideos101 I'm assuming Paul and Richard are Rammstein's guitarists? So, how do they play it? Do not say drop tuned. Remember whenever any of us demonstrate how to play something, it is only accurate for the version- in this case the album/studio one. Bands change tuning and vary things over time.
@JesseStorck28 funny! actually I did try to sell it to Dime back in 96'! He had just had a couple stolen. i guess he had 11 of these Deans at the time.
Hey Iby Girl- so you getting it? Here's the final confirmation for anyone that still thinks it's in dropped D and can't hear it's not. At about 1:30 you cleary see Paul make the standard power chord shapes! (Can't put link here but it is a live vid in Metro Hall)
@MrMrBeansidol Thanks. It's not a Dimebag. It's an original Dean from 1980- about the 1st year they were out. I didn't meet DD till the 90's- he carved his name above the tailpeice with a screwdriver! What a fckn tradgedy- the best since Rhoads.
Hey Daniel, if by "that sound" you mean the tone and not the power chord, the Dean has a very dirty, gritty tone as it has Dimarzio super distortion pick ups. It is running direct through a Soldano amp simulator. The Boss Heavy Metal pedal gives a good gain, and Line 6 make amps that have tons of distortion options. Explore!
@1122CHINA Well if you mean a Strat with all single coils, then you really have a challenge. Try anyone of the Metal style distortion pedals to get a thick, midrangy distortion. If this is the style of music you're into next time get a guitar with a humbucking pickup (Les Paul, Ibanez etc)
i like the rhythm you played it sounded sickk
