- The PHL-03 was developed by NORINCO and reportedly entered service with the Chinese army in 2004 - 2005. Currently it is one of the most powerful artillery rocket systems in the world. The PHL-03 is also being proposed for the export customers as the AR2.

@@MojazInfo It is exactly like the smerch mlrs in all aspects except in firing range and operational range. The PHL has a longer firing range of 70 to 130 km whereas the smerch has a range of 90 to 100 km. But the smerch has a bigger operational range with 850km whereas the PHL has 650km. So it is equal to the smerch. Also it doesn't make it right to copy everything and justify it by saying we made it better. Now china isn't the only country which copies others. America and Russia copied from Germany. Yet they didn't copy everything. They took some of the good attributes and created the rest themselves by spending tons on research. China as we could see from the PHL 03 system copied everything. From chassis to the rocket tubes. They changed the rockets but the system itself is cheap because they didn't spend anything on research. You mihmght say why invent the wheel when somebody has else has already done it. True but you shouldn't steal the wheel. You should make your own and understand how it works
